Guide to proper hostile initiation

[Legit]

In order to properly initiate hostile RP you must supply people with a demand and then a threat. A threat can be inferred but it is recommended to include one in your message. 

Good

Spoiler

• Hands up or die.
• Drop your gear or be shot.
• Get out of the vehicle or die.
• Stop the vehicle or be downed.

If they refuse the order within a reasonable amount of time (3-5 seconds) or show hostility back then you are free to act on your threat.

Bad

Spoiler

• Hands up!
• Hey! Stop!
• Get out!
• Stop!

If they refuse any of these orders and you shoot them that would probably be considered RDM (Hostile intent can be inferred if the outcome of refusing is obvious)

Helicopter Initiation

• Always text the pilot, you may be using earplugs but the pilot might not. He might not hear your initiation at all.
• Before you shoot make sure the pilot has clearly ignored your request. 
• You can fire warning shots for a helicopter to leave an area, fire a few shots wait 5-10 seconds and fire a few more. If he seems like hes avoiding them but not leaving the area you may fire. If he isn't moving at all he probably doesn't even know he is being shot at.

 

TIPS

• You should chose the right time to initiate, don't initiate on somebody facing you and immediately shoot them because you were threatened.
• When people exit vehicles their weapons will draw. Either tell them to holster it or to put it in the vehicles inventory before getting out.
• Hostile initiation lasts 5 minutes. If you are questioning how long it's been, re-initiate via text.
• If you did accidentally RDM somebody, apologize and compensate the player. Record/Screenshot your compensation. 
• If somebody complies you need to find a different RP way to kill them. (Be Creative)
• Make sure people are aware you are initiating with them, in crowded places it may be ideal to text them.

 

Misconceptions

• Crashing into somebody or being hit by a vehicle is not initiation, if you wish to shoot you must initiate via voice or text. 
• Restraining/Escorting somebody who is downed is not considered initiation. 
• Different groups must initiate individually. You must be in the same group to respond to a threat made against a gang member. If you are in the same gang but different groups, each group must initiate individually.  

 

Only initiate through your phone or voice. Dispatch/911 or Side are NOT acceptable ways to initiate!

Some situations have RP/context, in grey area moments use common sense.

Day before yesterday I started playing for the first time. I encountered a fellow that "hands up or die"-d me. I ignored him, so he killed me. ok.

Everytime I respawned for the next 5-7 times he runs to me and keeps doing the same thing over and over and over. Is this trolling allowed?

Granted, I could have spawned in a different town, but I had just started and bought my first car while this was going on. So are people allowed to keep approaching you and robbing/killing you when you respawn like that?

As long as he maintains initiation, he can rob/kill you as much as he wants.
