That's the thing. If I'm all rebel geared at, let's say Sofia, and my scotch houses are close to Kavala, I gotta drive/fly all the way there, store my items in a crate and then re-spawn multiple times. Used to be much more simple just to connect and then play however you wanted to play.

Might sound lazy, I know. But scotch has always been something very-well balanced in Asylum. Might suffer a small nerf with the new 'Show storage' thing. Other options can be studied as well, if the community really liked the new option. For example, make your crates/barrels appear remotely. Just brainstorming though.

I agree with you :) I just think it's worth the efforts and it's not that big of a deal to me.

@BlackShot

The goal of the house portion of the patch was to reduce overall memory utilization when players join, which is working. I took out the Hide Storage piece because we were hoping hiding the storage would free the memory up when that piece happened. Only the second part isn't quite working as intended, so only that piece got removed.

Overall though, memory utilization is down. Now if I can just find a way for BIS to actually clear memory it's not using.

A side benefit here is that it reduce fed overall network traffic as well. Spawned in crates have to be related to everyone. Every time something changes. Regardless of where you are. Brilliant design by BIS right?  Give me a network bubble!

Thanks for clarifying! Is there anything to do to help scotch aging without visiting house by house and clicking the 'Show storage' option, just like it used to be?

Hotfix 2:

  • Crates will now be able to be spawned if you have soft logged or disconnected and then come back to the server.  For gang crates, if the person that originally hit "Show Storage" DCs, then someone else in the gang will need to "Show Storage" again to bring them back in.
  • Prisoners will now be able to get their aggression out once again in laser tag
  • MBH tracking message should now show the proper time until you can re-track your bounty
  • Drug runner plane pings should now show an actual message to the APD

Thanks for addressing @bamf!

I see your point. Problem is: I have at least 3 houses for scotch, and they're all spread, which makes it harder to access them each server restart. I think scotch has always been very balanced before this patch. Since you have to store them in your houses, there's always a good amount of risk when going to process/store and when going to take/sell. Not every friend wants to escort you, since it takes a fair time to go through all the scotching process. You can either be caught by the police or killed by 'scotch hunters'.

The goal of this new 'Show storage/hide storage' thing was to reduce BattlEye kicks, at my understanding, which didn't happen according to @bamf himself. They weren't planned to affect how scotch works. Either way, let's see how it goes. ;)

All 5 of my houses are in athira. I recommend that you get houses close to eachother or just store your gear and suicide to each house to show crates.

I added the lights (because I was far too lazy to go find the positions myself)

No problem. I was actually trying to save you some time. I was also a bit rusty with the editor and the coding thing, so I thought it would be a good chance.

By the way, can you add back again the 'Open Gate' option for police officers on Tanoa, so we don't need to get out of our vehicles to open them? You said you had to rollback the change 'cause Tanoa wouldn't be getting any patches soon, if I remember well. But that was before Bamf's decision to release them anyway.

Open gate. EVery scrollwheel option runs checks to see when it should show up. The number of checks for Tanoa is like 2-3x what runs for Altis; and I don't want those to run on Altis.

Oh, I see it. I guess it's a different issue then. Let me show you something:

If you click on that image you're gonna see the option 'Close Police Gate' (top left), to remotely close the gate without actually having to touch it. This option is available on Altis, but not on Tanoa. Do you think you can address that? Just trying to make sure we're on the same page.

Thank you, @Gnashes!

Right. Tanoa uses 2 kinds of gates. I don't want the checks for that second gate to run on Altis.

Pretty sure that the purchasing a Hummingbird at Kavala skiptracer is broken. Bought one the other day and it was not in my garage and never spawned. (Still lost 85k) Not goona risk trying again lel @bamf @Gnashes

I'm fairly certain that is working now.  I'll check it out next time I launch the editor though.

@bamf

I have a question, are the house crates cleared up? Will I be able to purchase a home and effectively put crates in them bad boys?

Also, there used to be a global market when I was around, and I'm recently returning to the server and am curious on what happened/the reasoning behind taking it out because I thought it was a very unique feature.

Also very good update by the way!

Housing seems to work fine (as far as I know).  So buy a house, put down crates, and enjoy.

The Asylum Exchange is still technically just "turned off".  There are some issues with the way Arma doesn't release memory (from a server perspective), and until the 64bit server comes out we have taken steps to reduce overall memory utilization.  One of those steps was to disable the exchange (large chunks of data pulled into memory through DB queries).  Hopefully we can bring that (and other) feature(s) back once Arma finishes it's modernization.

Alright thanks!

If I may ask, what other features have been removed for performances sake? Any other big noticeable ones or just little things?

Exchange

Crates now must be loaded in manually via scrollwheel on house

That's about it. Next project is some ish in the wanted system (which will prevent bounties from rolling back until a much higher value)

I bought a house yesterday and crates to boot. Still unable to access them even after repeated server restarts and relogging attempts. Nothing shows after using the scroll option still.
