Way back in the day we had a cement mixing plant

Keep a backup of the current (what would be old) server database so if needed it can be reverted if it is blatantly failing after a few months. Keeping that back up is a good fail safe. From what little I understand about databases, it can't be that hard to do or costly long term.
On the bright side I see light at the end of this if its executed with near perfection and maybe with some new solid content as icing on the cake.

why r u such a hater on the wipe? its not like there is even a chance the server will have pop otherwise. 0 people on rn.

This is about make or break Asylum. Finally commiting to the wipe that's brought up every year. Fuck it, it's a 2014 game and taking the risk is the only way Asylum might get a population again.
As long as there's a backup DB who cares. Only kids crying are the kids losing their houses in Athira and Kav square. Y'all have fun shooting kids from your houses with 20 people on the server? cry.
God forbid we move away from the stale ass economy and make kids fight at cartels again. There's a reason to fight now and money actually means shit now. A new reason to grind.

Honestly might as well hold off on the wipe and let people fuck around while a modded server is developed in the background 

With the coming wipe to the server there are multiple ideas that I can think of that’ll separate you apart from oly. These will be drastic changes but I feel like that’s needed in order to set yourself apart and have players come play asylum. 
1: Give longtime players special skins/tags/donor ranks for their dedication to the server before the v3 wipe
2: Have a prewipe myasylum category or just keep the stats on there because they are cool almost trophies for longtime players 
3: Mass Unban
4: Lastly and honestly in my opinion MOST IMPORTANTLY add mods to the server. With the modded life scene down horribly right now (with how bad this anzus wipe has been) it could be a huge jump to add even some simple mods that add cool content (new guns and vehicles) to start. It would allow tons of cool customization, take a load off of skin devs, and switch up weapon selection and make fights and new metas. I think the only way we are gonna see new players switching over is adding mods. I know the old argument was that mods were hard to install for new players but the ease of installing mods combined with the fact that arma 3 has almost 0 new players this is the best way I can see asylum surviving.

Just discussing this with people in my gang. I understand the difficulties in adding mods and balancing armor from modded vehicles with vanilla ones can be a nightmare but I think doing this is the only way to separate ourselves from other servers. If asylum announced they will be adding mods in the future and made their own mod pack would be the best idea imo. Even if it took 4 months to make the mod pack with all the content they want it would allow for easier development. I just think the announcement alone would get people starting to play tho knowing that it’s coming in the future. 

Likely yeah to all, atm still planning on paring down the illegal options, but we’ve got some stuff cooking for other metas, in the future we’ll make sure things evenly distributed

This needs to be executed correctly, launch of the server needs to be done at a time where EU and NA can grind, unban ALOT of people, daily rewards to keep people coming back, cop to civ ratio needs to be looked into because every field will be camped by cops... it will be fun to have that excitement of driving a box truck full of coke with the chance of being robbed and actually giving a shit about money.
currently we just log on, buy whatever without a care in the world because we've been playing for so long it doesn't mean anything and maybe the wipe won't change that but currently its at 10 people peak time.
Maybe its not the right move but I think its better than nothing, please back up the server, monitor the retention of players, this is make or break...

Or just lock the post immediately, do none of these, and watch the server die. it's usually the typical response when I make one of these suggestions.

What people dont understand is the issue with population is player interaction, who cares if you have the best houses and loads of money if you dont come across anyone to use it.

+1 to Chris. A reset is going to leave this game maybe refreshed (MAYBE) but it will last a month, after that its gonna be worse than it is now. I can almost guarantee you the remainder of your player base will end up with Oly. Thinking from a player POV why would we start fresh here when we can just go start Oly which will have more numbers. For those who spent a while grinding to the point where they can now just enjoy fighting and buying kits with the money they have, this is a big fuck you to them. Chris also be right, arma 3 is a 10 year old game and isnt seeing many new players anymore, this isnt Anzus, a reset wont help. 

I see a lot of your old players quitting for good and going elsewhere. These days half the fighters who come on purely come on to do fed events or fight and nothing else, everyone spent their 500 hrs grinding. 

It would be a different story if you kept your money into the server wipe for new content and we are only allowed 1 house/1 shed until the first month is over. 

I hope this pans out, but i personally dont think it will, you've just dug asylums grave. 
 

All I’m gonna say is this… there is no point to wipe a server thinking it’s gonna help when there aren’t any new arma 3 players in 2024. You guys already offered to match peoples economy from other servers so there would still be no fresh incentive for them to come play asylum all the sudden. The only thing you are doing is wiping players progress for loyal players that have played for years. Can we maybe get some sort of donor levels or skins or something for the money we have right now? I mean fuck we have a dude with 600mil and it’s going to be wiped and he’s spent 1000’s of hours grinding money for it to be taken away. Also all of our stats on myasy and the leaderboards are all for nothing. Cops kills and quests we have all done wiped. I can’t see myself personally playing after this wipe.

Needs to be separate economy if they plan on keeping a domination server, although I completely understand if they are shutting down server 2.
Thing is I hope there a public timeline of future events, so I know when to go crazy with my money. Honestly looking forward to wipe. I understand people are upset at losing there progress, but this is the best thing for the game. Monthly wipes would be utterly unique and would add a new dynamic to arma 3 servers not done before. Would keep things entertaining for players, give a reason to grind again, bring back the fun in classic arma 3, and would furthermore allow players to be competitive again through wipes.

How did we lose to a server that has NLR in 2024
