Asylum Pre-Patch Announcement 6/12/2024

This is about make or break Asylum. Finally commiting to the wipe that's brought up every year. Fuck it, it's a 2014 game and taking the risk is the only way Asylum might get a population again.

As long as there's a backup DB who cares. Only kids crying are the kids losing their houses in Athira and Kav square. Y'all have fun shooting kids from your houses with 20 people on the server? cry.

God forbid we move away from the stale ass economy and make kids fight at cartels again. There's a reason to fight now and money actually means shit now. A new reason to grind.

I'd love to see asy make a come back. I've been gone for a bit.

I would like to petition two things:

first, if we are limited to 3 houses, either make garages universally accessible to pull vehicles or put a vehicle access point in every single gas station. This is the only viable way to make the three houses make sense.

secondly, allow JSRS sound mod back in the game. This allows far more flexibility and allows those that pay attention the opportunity to do more.

Uh no its called an insurance policy if a bad idea ends up failing. If the wipe doesn't work out and people get their shit back they will return. I don't even know why you care you and oskarr show up for like 2 hours a week to roach a fed or a cartel then log off to go braid each other's hair in the bathtub with a glass of wine.

I have had probably every single house and shed that is worth buying on the server and also have more money than almost everyone playing this shit, but I understand a change is needed and I believe a wipe is the only change worth trying

If there is a chance that asylum will go back pre-wipe people that is against the wipe will simply just dont play until they go back and people that wants the wipe will stop playing if they decide to go back. As a casual who has finally got some money going and houses I am happy with, really kinda disappointed. I just got a few friends back into the server and have been running with them. We've kept up with taxes and stayed active, just to have it all be wiped? Please reconsider this decision.

houses are the least of my personal concerns

people that only hop on for a week to play cartels then quit again when their gang cheater gets banned and they start losing fights just dont get the struggle of the little man

I'll probably sound like a broken record but truthfully I couldn't give a fuck less.

We have tried everything. First, people said there wasn't enough content, so content was added. An abundance of it. Once we had a ton of new content, people complained of QOL issues. The fact is that no one knows the right answer. We all know that the economy is broken, and player count is way down. You can blame the broken economy on whatever you'd like. Domination, strife, tanoa, or people who have hundreds of millions that don't spend it. It doesn't matter, complaining about something doesn't fix the issue.

We need to be thankful that we have a group of people who are trying everything they can to fix the server. If you lose your shed you spent 25 million virtual dollars on, boohoo no one gives a fuck, buy it again. This wipe is a last ditch effort to save the server. If you're going to be butthurt about losing all your stuff, then you don't have to play (and the people up in arms have 50+ mil that they never spend and typically don't play the server anymore). 

No one knows what the outcome of this wipe will be. It could save the server, or it could ruin it. Obviously nothing that we have tried to date has worked so this is what it has come to. 

In my opinion it will be a breath of fresh air and hopefully will allow people to find the love for this game and server again.

The only thing I am sad about is that I will loose a car from 2019. As an AFD member I have a black SUV with lights and sirens. You can't get it anymore, so its kinda a trophy and collectors item. Proof of being a member for a while. I do wish there was some way I could keep it or get it back. @HunterB

I think your missing critical details about the new content like the fact every patch was fucked there was a year with virtually no updates dom was left untouched for a long ass time and when people asked for changes they just never came. QOL changes where to match the abundance of shit being dropped into the server that wouldn't work properly. we ask literally beg for the chinese to be banned for a year and  we get the ability to make chairs and get honey.

I agree it would be a breath of fresh air. Now all we need is to bring back true RP and enforce it. I remember when NLR was in the server along with genuine and engaging RP scenarios. Part of me wonders if people would like a social hub location on the map that offered a non PVP zone. Allowing people to RP if they wished.

This looks rough ngl. Have not played regulary in years now, but have no idea if this is the right thing to do. But it is clear something has to change for people to play on Asylum. From looking at this thread looks like alot of people want to play, but they don't like how the server is at this current state.

And I see some people mention money, we had 1M cap and tbh I worked kinda good for a while, don't remember why it was changed. And people had a fuckton of money back in 2014 aswell, and we had 5 servers stacked at that time. The problem with people being bored because they have to much money was never an issue then. ( because there was alot more people playing )

And as someone has said, Arma 3 is not really a new game with constant new players coming to play, it's gonna be hard to get the server pop up to what everyone wants.

Maybe a mass unban of banned players could help the server, but Asylum has tried something similar in the past and not really paid off. 

Hate to say it but what have Olympus done that Asylum has not? ( It's a question as I dont know ).

And me personally think what kinda ruined our playerbase was our long period of BE crashed, that our savior @Azehsorted out.

I only play civ as it is, so a simple box truck and a pick axe is all I will need to get going again. But I can see the frustration of those who grind so hard for perks, achievements and equipment. We shall see
