Don't know what the point of a life server is if it resets. The number of players in Arma 3, and it goes the same for this server since its on arma 3, is dwindling every year. There are very few new players coming to this game compared to the hay days. Instead of realizing that and holding onto what's left, you have instead pushed players out the door even faster by alienating your most important base: those of us that have stuck around this whole time, some of us since the dawn of altis life, because we liked this server. Any new players that do join will not find a server that resets attractive either, when looking for an authentic altis life experience.

That said, I think it's only fair to reset the server continuously if you're going to reset the server at all, because otherwise that is an even bigger slap in the face to long time players. Why should only OUR efforts amount to zero at the end of the day? Everyone deserves to keep all of their progression, or nobody does. The game makes no sense otherwise and it feels like thoughtless decision making. Taking everyone's progression away in the name of attracting new players has to be the most-short sighted move this server has ever taken, and that is really saying a lot.

Arma 3 is never going to have a revival strong enough to make up for your player losses after the wipe.

I am never playing on this server again. Altis Life was on life support for years and now you just put the bullet in its head.

Fundamentally the asylum experience is what we all fell in love with, it wasn’t our scotch house, or unlimited ifrits.

I truly think once this wipe happens and the community sees how much time we're investing in making really cool stuff the narrative will change.

Don't you think if all the OGs ends up returning its going to be the same scenario in a month lol? The people who were rich AF before are going to be rich AF again. Like 10+ man gangs locking down whatever the best paying drug is. Yes there will be a ton of fights and stuff for cops to do which is the whole point, but if the idea is to stop people from getting like 50+ mil deep again thats like a month or 2 tops till you are back to where you were pre wipe. Even after 5 mil saved you can basically spam frits and kits endlessly.

We have tried everything. First, people said there wasn't enough content, so content was added. An abundance of it. Once we had a ton of new content, people complained of QOL issues. If you lose your shed you spent 25 million virtual dollars on, boohoo no one gives a fuck, buy it again. This wipe is a last ditch effort to save the server. If you're going to be butthurt about losing all your stuff, then you don't have to play (and the people up in arms have 50+ mil that they never spend and typically don't play the server anymore). 

No one knows what the outcome of this wipe will be. It could save the server, or it could ruin it. Obviously nothing that we have tried to date has worked so this is what it has come to. 

In my opinion it will be a breath of fresh air and hopefully will allow people to find the love for this game and server again.

Richard I have never met you before but I am very proud of you for this comment, +1 from me my friend. You speaking the shit no one else wants to say because they know they sound stupid crying. First they want more activities added. That was done. Then there was too many things added for our immersion. People started leaving. They added more events. People spammed them until cops never got back on. But that entire time they are making demands and requests with our 1-3 active devs. Now we have a huge team working to make this awesome patch for everybody. 

Yes you will lose your houses and money. Correct me if I'm wrong but the same thing happened years ago for V2. It happens on exile, rust, cod, fortnite, and any other game they play. Here their voice matters, here they are heard. The devs try their very best to accommodate everybody and our community doesn't realize what a blessing that is. Other servers wipe. Anzus? Complete wipes once or twice every year or two with basically new maps every time. Asylum may be a tad late but they are still moving forward in the right direction, with a absolute army of devs trying to make sure this is one of the best patches asylum/arma rpg communities have seen. I also hope they plan on constant/consistent updates to ensure the gameplay doesn't get stale and boring again for a while.

Fix the Paratus spaghetti code with a fresh redo of the server and i'll probably check it out. I remember for years dealing with mem leaks, crashes, and shit staff like @Jakewhich finally made me quit. Don't wanna deal with the same shit with a different name if possible.

Code was refactored on V2 there is no more mem leaks

I played V2 it was worse than V1 LOL. We crashed multiple times a day for months... it finally got a little better iirc but I think I was already retired by then and played maybe once a week by that time.

 

Just to add i specifically remember because it was post-Identity iirc.

The server has not had any of these issues in years. That's why V2 was made and why it was so barren at the start, they took everything out and remade it all. If I remember correctly it was the prison script on a never ending for loop checking if the prisoners had a weapon or not which caused server crashes.

Medic gear check as well, but to be fair he was right that it was a post-v2 fix. I remember distinctly that it was okay at first but once bounty hunting and medic were readded the amount of people getting the weapon check increased to the point that it was the same as v1
