New Player Experience

Recommended Posts

So, this is something that has always been a problem imo. I know I'll probably catch shit for this, but idc.

The people who sweat, buy a ton of rebel gear, and then just go around shooting everyone they see (Not RDM, but within rules)

It's helping to kill the game mode and always has, but people just deny it.

This is RP, not call of duty. If you wanna just shoot people, play cod or battlefield.

I've gotten 10 friends to try altis life with me in the last 8 years. EVERY single one has quit within a day because of people just going around RDMing, or running around with their pistol out "Hands up or die" every time they see someone.

You try to make some money at anything illegal, and there is *ALWAYS* a full geared sweat who has been sitting there watching youtube videos for 2 hours just waiting for people to shoot with zero RP or anything. So your new friends experience is waiting around, driving for 15 minutes, sitting AFK while waiting for heroin, then driving for 5 minutes, then instantly killed by someone with 50k in gear.

So, the last resort is to do legal things like mining or oil running. I usually just do oil. But then you gotta drive around in this slow ass fuel truck, you finally get some oil, maybe you finish a run, you get like 40k. That's not too bad, I guess. But at any point during that if some rebel player spots you, they WILL initiate and take your shit. It's not even RP, everything is just "hands up or die gimme your shit haha I blew your truck up nerd"

And EVEN if you complete an oil run and process it without someone hands upping you, you could always lag out or have someone VDM or RDM you. It happens, and it really sucks. Yes, you can report it. But do I really feel like always having a recording software running to record 5 minutes, recording it, then uploading that shit to youtube and filing a report? It's so much work when you just want to play the game.

it's just griefing. Rebels doing that shit has its place in altis life/RP, don't get me wrong. But the fact that almost every encounter is like this...

And as I said, yes, you can run oil and be somewhat safe (And pray that you don't randomly get VDMed or something) but that's not a solution to the overall problem of these players who don't give a single shit about RP and just want to kill people.

Getting robbed for your shit by a group of heavily armed thugs shouldn't be the standard encounter, it should be a rarity. Imagine an altis life where you've done 3 runs and on the fourth you get run off the road by 2 quilins full of armed guys. They say "Give us half your product and we let you live, and won't bother your next run" or maybe even "give us  25% of every run and we'll even protect you if you message us you need help"

Imagine that? Actual RP. Then it would even be fun to be robbed. Instead it's just "hands up or die" then you lose everything you've got (so no point in even trying to RP) or you die... and lose everything.

It is just not fun. I'm tired of not having friends to play this with because the new player experience is just so atrocious.

This is the problem with you and all the other newer players.
You guys expect it to be easy to do "end game" moneymaking methods. It shouldnt. Your mindset is the same as all the cops saying they should be able to disable an ifrit from a hatchback with spikestrips..

Running illegal drugs shouldnt be easy. It should be done in a group with a GOOD loadout ready to defend your car/truck and your team. We have robbed countless of kids driving around in expensive ass trucks without a fucking gun because they expect not to get robbed

Doing legal runs should literally be the way for a noob to make their money. Sure I agree moneymaking might be too slow and could be changed, but I also think you should build yourself slowly up to better and better runs. Dont go from apples to meth expecting not to get robbed in your tempest device without a gun in your hand

This is a very light RP server, so they will never "Give us half your product and we let you live, and won't bother your next run" or maybe even "give us  25% of every run and we'll even protect you if you message us you need help." The thing with big groups (well im just speaking on behalf of unknown) if we see you in a zamak, tempest device etc in a legal zone we will get curious and initiate on you, no if ands or butts. If you comply we will just lockpick ur vehicle and see what you have inside and I promise you 90% of the time we will let you go because we are to lazy to process ur oil, sand and diamonds. SO with this being said start making ur money the legal way and when ur able to buy urself a type or MK without going broke try to run heroin. DO NOT RUN COKE DRAGONS JUST CAMP IN THEIR HOUSES 24/7.

John really said it the best way possible. At one point we were all new players and went through the same thing you guys do now. We understand and know it gets old, but once you get past that barrier of being a "newbie" it really unlocks the game for you.

If you have a rule broken against you and make a report, we WILL compensate you for the items you lost. We may not compensate you the full amount for things you were collecting or processing but we will 100% compensate you a kit or vehicle you lost due to a broken rule. A lot of people have this mindset of "I don't feel like reporting" and that causes them to quit. We will take care of you guys if you request comp. We also cant be everywhere 24/7 to witness it happen as we have a life to live as well.

yeah this is basically true. my gang does it as well, we go around and see what people have in their trucks but honestly we are way too lazy to chop trucks or go process diamonds to make 50k lmfao. honestly if someone steals your diamonds they're a freak couldn't be me

I've been playing on and off since 2016, I'm not new.

And I'm not saying that new players should instantly be able to go make meth. My complaint is mainly the population who just go around in full rebel gear and don't do any RP, they just kill whoever and take everything. Nothing is fun about that when *all* rebels do that.

As for doing legal things, I am fine with how much they net you, mostly. The problem is if a rebel sees a truck at all, they will stop you. It's almost as dangerous doing legal activities as illegal ones. And buying guns for new players is a waste of money, they will get smoked by experienced players.

Again I have no issues with money. I had plenty before the wipe from playing for 8 years and in general I don't spend my money on anything. I only spend on a house for scotch and vehicles to make money. It's the new player experience I am talking about here. It's just a consistent shitty experience. Clearly the owners/admins have tried to do something with the passive mode thing, so my opinion isn't outrageous. But I think it's not enough. Perhaps you should be able to be in passive mode until you've made your first 100k. That way new players can learn a lot of basics before being swarmed by a clan every time they spawn.

I've been a cop since 2017, though I lost it to inactivity so I'm a cadet now. But again these complaints aren't for me (Except for the lack of RP, I think that really brings down the game mode)

Been around since 2015 and I found out real quick - Don't use anything above a Box Truck if you're solo/trying not to get robbed. It was only after I found a group/gang to roll in numbers with did I ever use a box truck+. Hell, I only ever used a Zamak/HEMMT when the server was dead at 3am and Drunk Squad was 85% of the server pop running meth. I couldn't tell you how many millions I made running hatchbacks of meth (even before extra inventory space was a thing) just by 'learning the map' and seeing what was going on (ie: bank/fed/prison popped, are the cartels contested or am I about to meet a group of 15 at Meth Lab).

Side chat and who is killing who (and who is shit talking who) can be a big tell on what's going on around you.

I agree with Maaqs, I have done so many runs in a SUV or offroad and go almost unnoticed. And the few times I have been stopped, I try to RP and come up with a funny story and 9 out of 10 times, people are cool with me. They still may take my stuff, but leave me alive and with my vehicle. But I also have fun in the process. But agree that there are many who just want to take your stuff, even small amounts and that gets old. Avoid the popular areas and take the backroads. And if you do get stopped, play it cool. Any hint of attitude or salt and guaranteed getting shot. As a civ, I play 100% average Joe working class guy, and I still make enough to have fun. Enjoy the fun interactions, and brush off the bad ones.
