Update on Community Meeting 3/12/25

Recommended Posts

Considering the positions will never change unless the devs resign (not something that I want to happen either because they are the backbone of the server), then this is another point being made by others. The community is burned out. Not just staff or Devs, or even the owners that possibly saw an opportunity to milk the server for not its intended purposes as they exploited their platform and fellow gamer for financial or social gains.

We need a massive change to happen, or Asylum will only be a memory. I know Ifrit Mitch wants us to hug this memory as it fades into oblivion like some sort of watered down Toy Story plot, and maybe I'm delusional but I do still have a tiny amount of hope for this community's survival.

The change needed isn't a new map or a new illegal area, we need a new platform and/or actual owners that don't only care about adding their ideas. The server has lost its prestige around the same time CB stepped down, and the change of ownership along with the implementation of undesired changes as well as the abuse of power was fuel for the fire. Not to mention, this game has ran its course for a vast majority of dedicated players. Although, one could argue that we could milk it more with the right kind of hands at work behind the scenes and I don't mean milking it for every last dime that exploits the nostalgia of the community.

Every single person besides Fitz that has expressed their views aren't entirely wrapped up within their own cognitive dissonance, as we are literally all saying the same thing even if it is falling upon deaf ears.

What has been done is not enough.

I honestly wish I had the time/desire to learn an outdated code that isn't used for anything else. The thing is though, seeing how things have unfolded I highly doubt having more developers will contribute anything else that will attract more people to the server giving the direction multiple eras of failed leadership has taken it.

Out of touch would not even accurately describe the current owners, as that would imply there was even a hint of connection with our community.

Ah yes tell me about responsibilities as if you know absolutely anything other than sitting on the forums and shit posting.

The best cure to burn out is a change in position or change in environment. A "break" is only a temporary fix. Obviously them not doing any dev work when Rogue owned the server was their "break" which didn't help buddy.

Please stop embarrassing yourself.

I am not embarrassing myself. I have enough responsibilities irl🙂 You are just a fucking retard lol, you always were one.

Get a life buddy.

no he was an ass owner aswell, he started the down slope of this community. Rogue bought it to see if he could bring it back and im assuming realized it was more of a bitch then he was thinking or he got real busy then these guys were offered the server for some reason and they are just holding the coffin till its completely gone. But i remember clear as day Mitch was terrible and was the true fall of this server. He milked the money till it became unprofitable.

I forgive you, I hope you can forgive me. Either way, it's been real.

Hey at least we got the forums going again for 6 hours. Little victories!

That's crazy I hated rogue he was retarded, I'm just saying these guys literally planned out not deving with the intention of forcing rogue to sell to them.
Intentionally sabotaged the server so they could potentially take ownership in the future, and thought the simple name change of owners would fix things.

Huge, beefy, juicy accusation. Considering they never accomplished anything while they worked for mitch, then rogue, then themselves it sounds like it wouldn't be intentional. Do you have any brave soul willing to corroborate this story

If possible, can someone at least keep the discord and forums running? There's lots of memories here.

Thank you to all my friends that I've met from this community. I will never forget the feeling of racing home to jump on Asylum.

Better screencap everything you want boyo, bet this forum gets plug pulled before the year's out.

Good Evening Asylum Community,

A few weeks ago we had a community meeting to discuss the best way forward and what we can do to increase the population on our server.  We talked through some ideas and then pushed out a community poll to get feedback on them.

After we closed the poll we took some time to look at the data, and to look at a proof of concept for a Malden Life Asylum community.  @Iukeand @zdeat did a great job in showing us what an Asylum Malden life could look like, and we’ve been digesting that for a few days whilst getting feedback from a number of people within the community.

The poll data was inconclusive, with the neutral and negative portions outweighing the positive.  After reviewing this more closely, weighing other feedback, pros and cons, we have decided that Malden is simply too small, and the terrain does not conform to a life format properly.

While we are not moving forward with a map switch at this time, we have seen how a smaller map has the opportunity to increase interaction and the possibilities for additional content on the server, and we have confidence that we will be able to replicate these same features on a reworked version of Altis.

Taking place on a smaller more streamlined version of Altis , this revamped framework will take into account the data gathered from our poll, focusing on heavier RP opportunities, while also fostering the same combat that has made Asylum popular over the years.  This will also be a good opportunity to see how we can continue to edit the Asylum idea in different ways, and potentially provide a roadmap for how we would move to another game in the future, with the release of Arma 4, or other similar titles.

Features to be expected:

  • Service based economy missions (Assasination, vehicle delivery, crate pickup)

  • Beefed up optional tutorial system with a green zone and increased visibility to the server.

  • Personal Distress beacons

  • Karaoke

  • Boat drug running missions

  • Gang house drug shipments

  • Admin warning system

  • Prestige store with access to elite weapons, attachments, vehicles, and items.

  • Border patrol outposts

  • City Hall raids

  • Reworked Casino,Mental Asylum, Jewelry Emporium maps

  • Revitalized urban areas and new spawn points

  • Smokes

  • More random events including infection containment, and scavenging

  • Streamlined map and interactions

  • Fixing of all known bugs as of release

These are lofty goals, but with the increasing size of our design team, and the welcoming back of @Gen. Henry Arnold to the development team, our goal is to have a small bug fix and initialization patch out this weekend, and then a larger release mid-late April.  As we work through this transparency will be key, and leaks will consistently be posted in our discord.

**Until this release date we will be evaluating the limited opening of S2 domination on the Utes map, an exact schedule will be released once we have decided on a proper balance with our testing server needs.

Best,

Fitz

I'm going out on a limb here. I love you all who are arguing your points of view. But i gotta be honest where needed. None of you were ever in the position where you were ever really to full understand the subjects you're arguing about. Don't let the friendships, connection or memories be corrupted by the current status of the community. The events that are occurring now are clearly outside of anyone's control. Despite the various people tying to help, it's clear that reason isn't in the room with us.

It's alright to be upset, as losing what we have all came to for such a long and weird ass time is bound to hurt. The failure of the server signifies the loss of a common meeting place.

No other game can bring a group of random ass people together. Since moving on, gaming has not been the same. I realized that I am lucky enough to experience a true jem here over the years. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity that so many people had no idea was possible.

We kept a great corner of the internet alive, thriving, and the world best keep secret.

Cherish what you've had here, and stick together more now than ever. There are only a few of you left that have been here long enough to remember the amazing times. It would be a shame to waste it on fighting.

Hold the line, don't be tempted to blame. I bear a responsibility for where the server is today, it's something that weighs heavy.

❤️

Miss you buddy. I will forever cherish logging with you on farming sim.

 ,Best Wishes.

still at a loss here what happened ?

Owners say they’ve changed, push an update or talk to us for a day or two and then disappear for weeks or months at a time. Honestly reminds me of those sitcom abusive relationships.

Jesse joined the dev team to help because he saw how bad it was getting but it’s been radio silence since then as well and that was maybe 2-3 weeks now?

Dude ive heard people say the cost is close to 700, ive heard past owners say its no more than like 200.

realistically its probably between the 300-500 range, invision community itself is pretty expensive for forums, nevermind the server box or teamspeak

this alone is just forums pricing
