Performance enhancements:  

We will now be utilizing a headless client to offload almost all of the server specific tasks.  The goal here is make the game perform better for everyone, as well as give us the opportunity to dramatically increase the amount of players per server.  This is a major re-write of the back end of our mission.  

We will be testing this on server #1 at first to make sure we are getting the performance increase that we hope to see.  If all goes well, we will bump the population for all servers.  Please make sure to get onto server #1 to help test this out.  We will be setting that server to 140 players for now.  

Bounty Hunter changes:  

A revamp of the base talent system for Bounty Hunters has been implemented with this patch, eliminating 3 of the 11 current talents.  Also:

  • Added the ability to share in the bounty of your group.
  • Eliminated charges related to restraining your group's bounties if properly talented.
  • See your group's bounty target circles if properly talented.
  • Master Bounty Hunters now have access to a specially skinned Hunter to help track down hardened criminals (purchasable at the Skiptracer base).

New game system - Skiptracer:

An additional set of skill trees has also become available to those that master the base Bounty Hunter line.  Skiptracers will have access to new weapons and vehicles to help them in their quest to bring in Asylum's most wanted criminals.  Further, the Skiptracer base is now ready for use with enhanced interrogation facilities, prisoner intake processing, vehicle spawn points, and a BH vendor.  

The new talent trees in Skiptracer are:  Crusader and Predator.  

Crusaders are more accurate and faster at tracking their bounties.  They also get to take a bonus cut of their group's bounties when they are near the arresting facility.  Finally, Master Crusaders earn a bonus on the criminals they jail when they do so at the Skiptracer Prisoner Intake facility.  

Predators are bounty hunters that are less than ethical.  They receive bonuses to stealing your items, weapons, and vehicles.  They also have a chance to avoid detection for crimes committed against their bounty targets.  If and when an Apex Predator finally jails you at the Enhanced Interrogation facility, they even have the ability to extend your prison stay so that they can more easily get away with their theft of your things.  

There will be enough skill points to master either Crusader or Predator, but not both.  You will be able to dabble in the other skill tree though so that you can make your character play just the way you want to.  

The Skiptracer base is just like a rebel base.  It's not illegal to be there, but you are allowed to freely fire at anyone you find in the area.  

Other misc. bug fixes and changes:

  • Fixed a very old bug related to the purchase price of cocaine.  Tony Montana rejoices.
  • Increased the price of meth slightly, while reducing the price of 25 year old Scotch slightly.
  • The Pyrgos medical base now allows for the purchase of helicopters.
  • Fixed a bug related to the crafting materials required for Stings and Vermins.
  • Item stock on the market should all now flush more appropriately.  
  • Items dropped when you are killed should scatter a touch less.
  • More and more NPCs are returning to the island.  
  • SWAT leaders now only receive 1 ladder.  
  • The APD can now revoke the Bounty Hunter license of a player.
  • Lockpicking now has a progress bar to make the timing more reliable.  
  • You can no longer craft 7.62 weapons without the Marksman talent (to prevent the gun from poofing when crafted).
  • Added more clothing options to the rebel clothing shop.
  • SWAT should only have 1 life now.
  • Wanted "pings" require the bounty to be higher than $1,000.
  • Pulling out unconscious players from a vehicle should be more reliable.  
  • The positioning of the seatbelt and eject options has been changed
  • You will not receive a warning when storing a vehicle with only toolkits inside.  
  • Relaxed character requirements for manually set gang tags.
  • Drawing on the map has been disabled (we can't have nice things).
  • The jukebox in Kavala is now playing a new song.  Firefighters, native Americans, cops, and construction workers to the stage.  

 

I'm testing HF1 for 7.0 now.  Doing a few quick fixes to get us through the night:  

  • Removing karaoke to fix the crashing issue. 
  • Changing the map marker for BH circles to be for Master Crusader as intended
  • Removing ability to turn yourself in while on parole
  • Fix for Asylum Exchange while the headless client is active

I'm also going to turn off the headless client for the night on S1.  We have a few issues to tweak tomorrow related to that before turning it back on.  

Hotfix 2:

  • Bounty hunters may only pull a Hunter when an active Master Bounty Hunter with a Bounty Hunter license.
  • Tan MX and MXCs will properly disappear from the hands of players who are not properly talented to hold them.  
  • Honor will not be awarded to players in your group who are not bounty hunters.
  • Group markers from other bounty hunters in your group are now orange instead of red.
  • ATM added to Skiptracer base.
  • You can now draw in the map, but it will only show for your group.
  • Fixed a potential exploit related to jailing.

omg, crazy patch, im likin it. glad to see headless clients being utilized.

 

I'm really concerned you will see cops playing BH now... i can see it already, BH squads rolling around in hunters with MXs...literally no reason to play cop anymore LOL

UPDATE: Everyone is playing BH. No one is truly wanted. All the BH groups are shooting at each other as chaos ensues throughout the streets of Kavala!! One group shoots at another and the whole group name is instantly red throughout the city as we're all chasing down our individual bounties. It's creating some intense firefight/kidnapping situations, however there are lots of people getting shot in the back and downed. In other words, it's Kavala on steroids :kappa:
