So I can pull up another tab of google chrome with a big ass spread sheet and spend 30 seconds looking for a 3 digit code to refer to someone by, instead of just asking them what to call them?

You could do that now, no? To assign a number to every single whitelisted officer, and then enforce them putting it in their name is almost impossible. 

You could ask for a code solution and ask that officers are given a randomised badge number when they first login, and they keep that, but unless you append it to a name like a title, it’d essentially be a random number string with no meaning. 

I’m not trying to discourage your suggestion, simply point out the difficulty of it.

You could do this yourself now for the roleplay. 

 

Constable calzone badge number 420. Easy and requires no backend. 

I bet if a civ asked for a badge number most cops would make one up on the spot too. It's not hard to do without making a blanket requirement.

We currently have over 2000 white-listed officers.

Calling them by a number really isn't worth it in terms of RP on Asylum
