Can't connect to server.

So my friend is trying out arma 3 with the free weekend however he cannot connect to asylum. When he's supposed to spawn in he gets the message

''Can't setup the session with the server, you have three out of three tries'' 

Anyone has any experience with this problem?

Make another Arma 3 profile and connect to the servers again.

From what I'm reading, that error occurs when there's a server-sided MySQL problem, but that's not the case since only your friend is having trouble.

Try re-installing the game.

He could now join, but he can't use the phone nor can he walk around. I would guess that he's been messing with the files but that would be weird since he has never played before.

Maybe Asylum's mission file is corrupt. 

Try this:

1. Run the command "%appdata%" 
2. Go back one folder and open the Local directory
3. Then go to Arma3/MPMissionsCache
4. Delete the pbo file that says "Altis_Life.Altis.pbo"
5. Open arma3 and try to join one of the Altis servers again

Tell me if it works

Verify game cache. Verifying your game cache literally does what he stated above. Compares files you have to steams servers and replaces and corrupt or missing ones which should fix the problem.

I'm having the same issue as well.

 

Verified game cache and deleted mission file in my local directory, yet the issue still persists.

2 of my buddies got the same problem. I've let them try everything, think it's just for new players who aren't in the database yet.

The next day he could join without any problems. According to him he just reinstalled. Thank you all of the answers!
