Regarding name-tags

I've had multiple occasions in my first few hours on playing on the server where people have said my name without asking for it first, they later keep explaining that my nametag is floating above my head. I thought that this was a roleplay server. Is this allowed?

This is a light RP server. Yes it is allowed for them to read your government issued name tag

It's actually quite fun. At least in my opinion roleplaying is about pretending to be another human being in a fictional universe. Sorry if I offended you.
