Does anyone use sound mods?

Depends, do you like helicopters that sound like lawn mowers? If so, absolutely. 

Ever since arma improved the 3D sound stuff, the need for JSRS has been greatly diminished. Though I'm sure some people stiff prefer it.

Yes. It's cool when you first try it. I personally like JSRS explosions a lot more than vanilla ones.

The downside is with guns. Since you're used to Arma 3 sounds, you can easily recognize what gun someone is using. With JSRS, you have to learn everything from scratch, so it can be a bit difficult.

The sound mods really are garbage. Only thing I use is blastcore for effects, but you have to be careful with that as well.....smoke coverage with it is greatly exaggerated

True. Used to be the other way around though. Smokes were broken and would actually give you a hell of an advantage.
