Arma 3 Update 1.6 Comparison

Recommended Posts

Here is a sneak peak into the approaching 1.6 update. The overall feel of the new update has a more tropical experience.

If you wish to explore yourself, right click Arma 3 in steam. Click properties, betas, "enter beta access code to unlock private betas:" enter code "Arma3Update160RC".

Left is 1.6, Right is current version (1.58)

Both sides have everything set to ultra. With 1.6 a new feature is added under video settings "water reflections". I had set this to max when taking these screenshots.

Well rip people that don't have windows 10 and GPU that supports DX12.

I've Win 10 and GTX 960 you think it will improve my performance on it? I've a poor CPU (Fx 6300) and my frames are pretty shitty if I'm not on Stratis sometimes still is, average about 15-30 FPS

It will, if Bohemia will switch from DX11 to DX12, because DX12 mainly focuses on CPU intense games. So games like Arma 3 should get a huge benefit in FPS. But then again this is Bohemia we're talking about, and we can't be 100% sure, so basically it's just guessing game here.

EDIT: Your current bottleneck is your CPU btw.

Looks great.

I believe they're going to use DX12 so they're expecting a big performance boost. But I'm not sure how all of that works.

Unlikely. The upcoming patch 1.6 is in anticipation for Tanoa. Here are the recommended specs for APEX. Unfortunately nothing here shows any evidence of 64 bit architecture nor DirectX12.

Recommended:
OS: Windows 7 / 8 64-bit (Apple OS not supported)
Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Phenom II X4 or faster
Memory: 4 GB
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560/AMD Radeon HD 7750
Hard Drive: 25 GB free space
Audio: DirectX® compatible soundcard

Well they said Apex would be DX12 when they announced it.

But sadly, after looking around a little bit I think you might be right. Which is a really a shame if they don't include it. But this Dev update from a few weeks ago makes it sound like DX12 will not be part of the Apex update. Which pretty much sucks.

Yea, seems to be a lot of conflicting information. I suppose all we can do at this point is wait.
