Why do backpacks despawn in house crates

Every time I log out my back packs in my crate despawn, is this a server issue or is it intended.

Imagine being able to store items in your back pack then storing the backpack in the crate unlimited storage.

Not a possibility

It's to prevent duping, also because "if you could fill your backpack with crates and live off of gas stations, you would never need to go into town or spawn there."

Way back when the first iterations of houses and crates were being rolled out, I remember this was a huge issue. IIRC one of the admins said it was because they didnt want people isolating themselves from the player base... Basically they wanted people to have to go into towns which would then encourage more RP interactions. If this was just a coverup for "to avoid duping/exploits" or simply "we dont know how" is beyond me.
