GPU crashing?

I have a brand new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4gb Memory Card and while playing Arma 3 (and others) the game crashes and says "NVIDIA Kernal has crashed and recovered" any help would be appreciated. Getting frustrated considering the entire computer is brand new.

I'm not great with technical issues like this, so bear with me if my suggestions are somewhat rudimentary.

But make sure the drivers are all up to date.

Do the GeForce experience game optimization thing. Not sure what this does, but hey optimized sounds pretty good right?

Set your arma 3 config up. By default the game assumes you don't have a very nice GPU and doesn't utilize it very well. Changing just a few parameters can make a big difference. There should be a guide on the forums for what specifically to change.

• The entire computer is brand new?
• You purchased it pre-built or built it yourself?
• Are all the components brand new, or are some from a previous rig you had?
• Can you also list your specs in full, including things like PSU.

I just did a quick 10s search for you. In that time, albeit short, other people with this issue seem to be reporting it as a driver problem.

 

EDIT

Even if your driver is 100% up to date, i would roll back to the previous version, and reinstall.

Had problems with r6s due to the driver not installing properly. Reinstalled it, no more crashes on map load.

Just go back to the previous version of the driver and test it out.
