OgreTV
So, outside of this character is a relatively young adult with plenty of experience in human service field, a bachelor's degree with a high GPA from a reputable college. Now he is currently employed, but wants to seek something closer.. Yet each time he lands the interview, he doesn't seem to clinch the position. It's always close, always very close, the panel likes you and seems to enjoy talking with you, yet it seems to always result in the phone call or the email that starts out with, "Thanks for coming to the interview", and even that word at this point, thanks, just triggers that sadly disappointed feeling. Grraarrr... Veterans out there, the ones that seem to have very good interviews, what is your method for preparation? Trying anything for the next time at this point. Link to comment

Gatorade
Well if ive ever learned anything in my life is to analyse shit. Things happen for reasons. You did something wrong, review what you did wrong. Maybe You did nothing wrong but you didnt approach the job in the manor they were looking for as much as Gentleman X or Y. Do alot of research on the company. If you want something bad enough you will get it period. A. If you make it past first interview your resume is probably good B. If you make past the first call back your interviewing skills are probably good C. If you make it to the final cuts and you get the job , you probably filled the role they needed and gave them a reason that they must have you. Analyse the step you are failing (C) then figure out where. Maybe ask for feedback or pay attention to those applying around you or peers in your field. The day you treat your self any different then someone else is the day you miss a mistake. You should be twice as hard on your own mistakes, and be looking for them four times as much. Its a competition, You need to pass the seed questions, pass the personality barriers, and fill the role. You need to find the role instead of trying to cover multiple roles. I dont mean to be rude ogre, but you can't have that mentality if you expect to succeed. Your soft, fix it OgreTV likes this Link to comment

George
When They give you an option to ask questions, ask"what can I do to excel in this position/job if you choose to hire me" I've been hired to every job so far using that line Edited April 2, 2016 by L1on OgreTV likes this Link to comment
Sneaky
You can simply contact them back and ask for feedback about your interview. Most companies in my experience will tell you exactly what to improve on. Sometimes you do great and they just go with someone more qualified/experienced. When you ask, it shows you care about the position and may open the door for you down the road with that company. At a minimum, you are getting advice that will help you in the future.
