Processor: Phenom II X4 965 (3.4 GHz)

Ram: 5 GB Kingston DDR3 1333 MHz @ CL11

Video Card: Asus GTX 970 Strix

Resolution: 1400 x 1050

I've recently upgraded my video card from a 560 to a 970, yet my frame rate has remained the same in game. Normally I get anywhere from 15-30 fps, while in a benchmark I get almost 100 frames. What suggestions can you give me to help make my frame rate better?

that's some dooky ram you got, 1600mhz and 8 gigs at the least (yes i know arma only uses 4 but windows needs some memory to)

a better cpu would do you well too..

though, i can't say much

i got amd fx6300 6 core 4.0ghz

gtx 660 2gb

but i got 8 gigs of ddr3 1600

i get 30 fps in pyrgos, 45 outside of the cities, 40 in athira, and anywhere from 15-30 in kavala (usually on the lower side)

MSI X99S GAMING 7

2 x MSI nVidia 980Ti's

32GB DDR4 Rip Jaws @ 3000Mhz

Yep get some more ram that would definitely help. And if you wanna get it to next lvl then get a at lest a Intel i5 4690k. As far as i know you can get MB and cpu for 300$

Here is mine.

Intel i5 4690k ( running at 4.4 overclock)

16 GB ripjaws ram 1866mhz

EVGA 980 acx.

( Running at 1170 MHz Base Clock

1416 MHz Boost Clock overclocked)

Resolution is 1920/1080

I get around solid 70fps almost everywhere. As far I know about arma and pc its your cpu that holding back your frams.

A. Optimize your game - will improve it atleast 5-10 fps alone

B. Choose the correct settings, low isn;'t always the best option

C. You need more RAM. You are using nearly 1-2 gigs of ram for your Operating system alone , that leaves you less then the recommended 4 dedicated gigs of ram for the game it self not to mention the teamspeak in your background.

Side notes this is hard to believe but your CPU isn't holding you back that much. Arma just like most games is coded in a 2 core specifications. It does not perform better with more cores. 3.4 is what most i5 mid tier CPU;s come as original clock and should be getting you around 40 outside of town and 20 in with decent settings. With that being said you do not have a future proof computer by any means and need to get just about a whole new machine eventually.

Things to Optimize:

1. Your CFG Files

2. Your parameters

3. Your Launcher Settings

4. Your ingame settings

5. Your NVIDEA geforce control panel settings

6. Your Power Settings

7. LAST CHANCE if neccisary you can alter the performance at which your CPU regards the task i.e High performance. This will eventually kill the life of your CPU but it could give you proper frames till you purchase the new one.

8. Download Razer Cortex Game Booster and close out some extra things allocating more RAM for the mean time.

9. Play on full screen / Full screen window if you are not

10. Close out anti virus / any recording software you might have running in the background

11. Close out skype and the internet

12. Close out steam over lay / Steam messages / Steam Friends List

13. Close out arma launcher

nice meme dude, no possible way you are getting 5.4Ghz. Even with phase change cooling, the highest clock speed is 4.4. The stock speed of this CPU is 3.0. you are telling me you are getting an extra 2.4ghz. Lets see a screenshot of your bios

Go look on the overclocking specs of most people with the i7 5960x

A simple google will see that it's doable, but when I restart my PC. I will grab you a SC.

There's loads on super-clocking the processor.

Here's another question for people, I am pretty good at building but when it comes to windows and diagnosing things meh maybe not that great.. Since I built this machine, I can play arma no problems, for 20 hours if I wish with no temp rises, or anything.

If I play a game which is a bit graphically intense which arma really isn't lets say BF4 on the specs above, I can only play maybe a hour and a bit and I get this PC crash.

https://gyazo.com/548ada9247a5b842a9cbd219f3aec55c That is a SC from the event viewer, I have spoken to a few people about it, but I can't quite grasp why its crashing. Microsoft are idiots when giving out BugCheckCodes so I did the usual google etc. Most people are saying its something to do with over heating. I know this might be possible with the shit I run or maybe the OC is too high, I am not too sure.

Has anyone else experienced this type of crash before and does anyone have any solutions? Thought since we all geeking out about PC's someone might have a idea.

This seems really spooky. You must have a custom loop, with that voltage, you must get it pretty hot. ANd btw, i did google, In linus's testing, he found that the max safe OC was around 4.4-4.5
