Zoex
Hey guys, any Military vets or hikers this post is mainly to address you guys; I am starting to gather tools for my Military service, and I am looking for a good multi tool. I want to make sure the one I own is the best one out there. I currently own the Leatherman wave. Is there anything out there which is better? Thank you. TaeJon likes this Link to comment

Axe
I often go on hikes and never bothered with a multi tool. I have boxes full of probably 30+ knives and maybe 5 are multi tools, and most of them are shit. The majority of them are just fixed blades of folding knives. If Im hikinng/camping/hunting, I just carry a fixed blade. The one I normally carry has a firestarter and a nice sheath. I personally never needed a multitool, because I have never found myself in the woods thinking "Man, I really wish I had a screwdriver". Well, maybe the exception of pliers. So I can't give much useful input. IIRC SOG makes some quality stuff, and you can buy attachments to customize to your needs. (Im not 100% on that). TaeJon and Zoex like this Link to comment
Axe
Quick google gave me this, sounds like it might have tools you need http://www.sogknives.com/powerassist-black-oxide.html 3-Sided File 2Blasting Cap Crimper 3Bolt Grip Channel 4Bottle Opener 5Can Opener 6Full Serrated Blade 7Hard Wire Cutter 8Large Flat Screwdriver 9Medium Flat Screwdriver 10Needle Nose Pliers 11Philips Screwdriver 12Ruler 13Small Flat Screwdriver 14Straight Edge Blade 15V-Cutter 16Wire Crimper And since it is a SOG knife, Im pretty sure you can buy attachments and swap them for ones you dont need. But I've never owned one so I would look into that. But dont buy it from SOG website, they make that shit so expensive. Use Amazon, its almost half price. https://www.amazon.com/SOG-PowerAssist-Multi-Tool-B66N-CP-Assisted/dp/B001DZX7C4?tag=rangstev1-20 Plus SOGs warranty is limited lifetime, which is pretty great. JoMilla
The Wave is actually pretty sick and tops my list also. I think you will be fine as far as multi-tools go. TaeJon likes this Link to comment

Dredge
Leatherman is the best tool to have imo. I had one during my time in the military and used it on both my deployments. It came in handy just about every day Zoex likes this Link to comment
