The Issue
Clearly, as of recent on the server, there has been an extreme uptick in the cases of RDM (Random Death Match). From my experience as a returning player, this is a significant turn-off to new players. How would you feel jumping into a role-play server and immediately being shot by a person who doesn't attempt to innate?
Now some would answer with, "well, they'll get banned." Yes, that is true; however, bans take time.
In the meantime, these trolls can stay online and kill massive amounts of civilians. When playing both Civ and Cop, it is generally understood that you should avoid cities. Why? Because you are bound to get shot at random at some point. There is no role-play or fun in any of that.
My solution is simple we need a city that does not allow killing.
Plenty of other servers have a safe zone, "Areas that do not allow combat to take place." New players need a city from where they can comfortably learn the server. Someone's first experience on the server shouldn't be a city that's a warzone. We are a role-play community, and honestly, we need more of it.
A few questions I think should be addressed:
Couldn't criminals hide in the city to avoid prosecution?
No, only police should be allowed to down/restrain in the city, with no access to lethal force.
So gangs will avoid the city?
Yes, new players shouldn't be caught up in the ongoing feuds. But, they'll be plenty of time for them to experience that later.
What city would the safe zone be?
I am looking for suggestions to answer that question.
What should be in the city?
All the standard city shops. Within the safe zone, limits should also be beginner jobs, both legal and illegal.
I look forward to hearing everyone's feedback on my topic, and I encourage further discussion in the comments. Thank you!
