  1. Now I'm confused, I thought the problem was cops were actually going as far as to logging on to other servers to stop this kind of stuff
  2. The way I see it is there clearly are a lot of people who play Altis for combat. As a Civ, this is kind of ruining the game for me and its getting/gotten to the point where we may as well change the servers to normal Arma. In my experience there is no, or at least extremely few cases of, non-hostel role-play going on in Asylum servers at the moment. In my opinion this is based around the salt that occurs when people lose their gear. Engaging in RP can be a risk, and people don't want to risk losing 100k-200k worth of their time for RP anymore. This is a big problem to me because, again, as a Civ, I don't have a chance. I get ganged up on between rebels and random people with a rook every time I'm in a city. This has made "RP" in general very stale because its always the same thing. "Put your hands up" get robbed or shot, now I've wasted 30mins+ of my time and there was basically no RP had. The only reason I wasn't (and sometimes I am) shot right off the bat is to avoid RDM rules. Other than that, RP doesn't exist anymore. Lets say we did have a white listed rebel force, and their purpose within the servers were to undermined the APD, and would generally leave Civs alone. Spawning as a rebel would be similar to cops (or at least how I remember cops, I haven't played cop in about a year or more) where you buy your weapon and armor once and just need to buy attachments etc after death. Cartels etc would still be Civ only and, in my opinion, player money caps should be removed and the money should go into a gang bank. (It was a nice idea, but in practice it just isn't working like people envisioned it would) What I think doing this would change is a lot of the people here for combat would go rebel, and, because losing their gear wouldn't be such a detriment, they would be more open to actual RP. Meanwhile the drug cartels and gangs playing on civ would have a good way to earn money to keep themselves going as well, further increasing RP. I mean, I get that it was a thought that gangs were becoming too powerful etc, and that players had crazy amounts of money. However, currently, the consequences of death are too much and are discouraging RP. The violent crime rate in the server in general is just too high and needs to be toned down a bit imo, and the answer isn't more consequence, its less.
  3. And as one of those civs this is what I want also. I do wonder though, because I haven't seen it suggested anywhere (maybe because its just a bad idea), has anyone considered just making rebels their own official faction? Other servers do this and in my opinion its a cool idea. This wouldn't effect gangs, it would just add in the option to be officially designated a part of the rebel faction meant to be considered freedom fighters against the APD and Altis government. Playing as a rebel, which would be something white listed like cops are, would give you benefits to support the type of play stated by Bikstok above. The reason I suggest this is because I think it could give people a way to fight at a lesser cost, which in my opinion is whats needed to return RP that isn't just robbery to the server. Would be a big task, but its doable.
  4. Maybe, but tbh I was having a pretty good time here on Asylum before. Before Asylum I was playing on a server where things like RDM was basically non-existent, Cops were dicks, rebels were dicks and the admins were dicks. I think Asylum has the community, but just fell off its rail a bit. I don't want a server where robbers don't happen, or fighting doesn't happen. Its just, as a observer, the patch that was supposedly suppose to make the server less about combat has done just the opposite. People like you are less likely to take the risk of RP because of what you have to lose, and to me thats part of the problem.
  5. 1) And? 2) If you don't want to fight, then why were you a cop? Its kind of part of the job. 3) RP is also gone because theres so much work/time/money at stake that theres actually a anti-incentive to engage in it. 4) Kav wasn't good then but its not good now either, I'd say its worse, and on top of that now everyone is a pistol banger regardless of where you are. At least before it was more limited to Kav. Now? Every RP engagement is a robbery. It didn't use to be like that. I use to see other people, even in illegal zones, and we wouldn't kill each other. People were even welcomed to join in farming because it meant more people to ward off wannabe robbers. If someone did kill you your reaction was generally "Eh". Now, its kind of a big deal. Its harder to get up to that point where you have money to play with, and losing it is, for me at least, more common because quite literally everyone is out to get you. Theres just no RP to be had anymore, and, personally, I think thats somewhat to blame on a lack of money to play with as well as the ease of which it can be earned. 5) Again, and? Its not like this was just given to them. They had to setup said super gang and alliances which is a task within itself. Plus, in my opinion as someone who has/had no desire to be in a gang, was kind of cool looking at it from the outside in. Says you. I actually enjoy just being a normal civ. To put this into prospective I still have the same BH/firearm licence I bought pre-talents. I treat Altis life like a open world Truck/Heli sim where I engage/get engaged into RP situations. To me, thats fun. Its all good and well if you like going on "a murderious meth fueled rampage" in-game, but there are people who are boring like myself who don't. This is not to say the OP's idea is bad (Cant even see what it was due to admin edit) but just pointing out there are boring people in the game. Also, have you tried GTA Online? That sounds more like something you'd be interested in.
  6. I haven't had but maybe 1 or 2 interactions with players since I started playing again last week (I have 72hrs played according to steam over the last two weeks, all of which is on a Asylum server) that didn't end in robbery or RDM. Personally I am one of those players who play for other reasons than to be a cop or rebel. I enjoy the RP, I love games like Truck sim and I found it fun to have a open world game like this where, at least to me, the goal wasn't solely to go around killing people. This doesn't happen that often since I got back however. I use to be cautious when other players were around me outside of the cities, now however 9 times out of 10 they're just going to pull a gun on me or straight up kill me even if they're in the middle of the city. To get to the point, rebels effected me almost zero percent. Matter of fact, rebels use to be way more forgiving and even helpful alternative cops, likely because they could afford it, and I never had a problem with a rebel holding me up for 20k~. Now I get held up by anyone for anything. The people who are the biggest pest, annoyance, disruption etc to me has never been rebels. Its always been the trolls that get $1,000 after 5mins of play, buy a rook, and run around the major cities. These are the people that use to grief me, not rebels. Now? Its everyone. Rebels use to go after these people to "keep their streets clean". Now, they want my 1K I just got from apples. I'm not a supporter of a focus on fighting, however, the old system, in my opinion as someone who has no desire to engage in gangs or fighting in general, worked more in my favor. The problem is nobody wants to lose their gear because they cant afford it like they use to. They use to be able to go out and lose stuff, not because there was no consequence, but because they could earn enough to give them more incentive to RP because it wasn't as big of a deal if they did lose their gear. That's the problem. As many have stated in this thread, when people lose things they get very salty, and their desire to RP goes down because of whats at stake. Nobody wants to spend hours on earning gear just to lose it when some random person in the city, or cop, can cause you to lose it all with one slip up or RP engagement. Which leaves us where? People who want to fight don't because its too costly, they leave or become a small timer in cities with a 9MM robbing everyone they see in hopes they'll get to kill someone. To me that isn't Altis life, as I said above I've had very few non-hostel interactions with people, and almost all were with cops, since I started up again. Where did the RP go?
