Build LaGrange's First PC!

The most important thing to do in pc building is to build a good foundation. Start with a high quality mobo and a psu rated at least bronze and 100 more watts than you will need. If the price of a cooler gives up the ability to grab a better cpu or gpu, then choose the cpu and grab the cooler later. Go by the philosophy that you can add more, but cannot replace.

please, if you are going to spend that much on a CPU. Just buy a 6700k. of course the socket type of this cpu will require you to use a different MOBO and Ram. heres a build i threw together in 5 minutes, it is at your max price point and if you are not willing to spend that much, you can always swap out the 980ti for a 970 or even a 1070 or even maybe a cheaper SSD or a 60 htz monitor but i highly recommend a 144 . Skylake (which is what a 6700k is) is much more futureproof and has better overclocking potential. Pm me if you need specific help on anything, im not a professional or anything but i have built my fair share of systems.

. Go with a Z97 chipset Intel and drop DDR3 into it. DDR4 isn't going to do shit for you.

what is this 2009? DDR4 is leaps and bounds ahead of ddr3 and ddr3L. Much lower power consumption, lower heat output (reducing cost because heat spreaders are no longer needed) There is no practical reason to not get a z170 Chipset.

The 780 is almost 3 years old now, and you don't need that mobo (you're paying an extra $100 for features you probably wont use).

I also replaced the CPU cooler with the 212, which is significantly cheaper and very common in air cooled builds. I convinced Durga to buy one and he likes it a lot.

You could potentially save a little on the case. If you're willing to spend an extra $100, get the 1070 instead of the 970.

Thanks amigos. Changed out the CPU cooler, case, motherboard. Couldn't find DDR4 memory.

The CPU and GPU are on the list because they are being given to me.
