Need RDM Rule Clarification

Recommended Posts

I've been away a while but I ran into a scenario that I thought was supposed to be handled differently.

I was after a bounty in Kavala late last night and I located him talking to 3 other people. None of them we're in a gang. I approached him, flashed my bage and told him "Playername I'm a bounty hunter I need you to put your hands up" and one of the randoms he was with puled a pistol and downed, restrained, and executed me with no initiation. Now back when I was playing before unless you were tagged and in the same gang you had to initiate before rescuing your buddy. However I submitted a report and was told "I think its safe to assume that the guy who shot you was friends with your bounty, hence why he took his weapon out as soon as you initiated on Playername." and the topic was locked.

Does this mean if I'm around one of my buddies that isn't in my gang I can just open fire on cops and bounty hunters that take him without initiation? Because that's stupid imo

Are you sure? Then why do gangs have to have their tags in their names?

The displaying of tags is to show rival gangs their presence. It's also used for gang wars so that there's clear distinction of who is on what side. Honestly, if you're going to bounty hunt in Kavala, always have a team or wait until your target is away from crowds. Even folks who aren't friends with your bounty will try to get in the way. Of course it's easy for your target to say to an admin "He's my friend, he was stopping him from arresting me." It's a cheap dirty tactic, but you can use similar tactics by simply restraining and escorting away. Yes it's cheap and dirty, but more quieter, quicker, and not breaking the rules. Never hurts a RP with them as you're escorting them.

War declarations mean that gangs can RDM eachother on sight. Being tagged means its easier to identify those at range, since the Red Name only works if they are on foot, not in a vehicle.

Plus if you're in a war and get killed by someone untagged and dont recognise you are likely to report them for RDM. Saves admins trouble if everyone needs to wear tags.

Record it and report it.

But how do I know someone's with him? Am I just supposed to assume they are grouped and initiate the one guy and shoot the 20 guys around him? That's bollocks! How do I know his friend isn't waiting down the road for me hiding in a bush somewhere with a bloody rook? Am I supposed to shoot every player I see while escorting him to the courthouse? I thought the purpose of initiation was so you can identify hostiles and deal with them accordingly and if that's not the case for non grouped people why do we even initiate at all?

Just as a clarification : if you see gang war killing each other please when someone tells you to leave or you will get shot do so and don't try to report people for RDM when they rp with you 8 times.Don't try to stay and try to record them for rdm.

I wouldn't make that mistake. I know how things work or so I thought.

When I bounty hunt alone in Kavala its pretty hardcore.

In that instance I would of told all 3 of them to put their hands up while I'm already aiming.

This way if one tried to run or pull out a gun you can just start downing them and you would be under RP guidelines.

Like some one mentioned if there are a few more people around I would not attempt as anyone of can pull out a gun and shoot me.

Also if you were downed in Kavala you would not be able to be executed unless they defib you and kill you again.

Also going up to him and zip tie him might not work out as his friend can un zip him very quickly.

Hide Badge and have them all put their hands up with out telling them why you are there!

Assume everyone will shoot you the moment you initiate anything or give them opportunity for them to initiate first.

As that movie clip said, it all come comes down to concentrating on the moment at hand and feeling the vibe of your surroundings. This is different from thinking it's the right moment... For example, NEVER initiate a bounty until you understand the vibe of the situation.

Are the people bounty hunter friendly? Is there APD around? Did you notice people hanging out at Courthouse? Look around to see every possible person carrying a weapon, are you outnumbered? If yes, do you have a escape route that put you in the advantage over numbers? Is there any chance of the target may isolate themselves? Can you manually isolate them?

All that must be processed at a single moment, prior to engaging a bounty. It really boils down to using your instincts and if the feeling isn't right, let it go. Take your time and wait for the moment to present itself. Trust me, it's easy to claim RDM even when you know it was, but Asylum is a VERY lax on the RP engagement. Bounty Hunters get the raw end of that spectrum even more, which is why I always encourage them to work in groups. If you're hunting solo then your target better alone or at least be ready to 1 v 5 on a moments notice.
