A riddle for ASYLUM CASH $$$ ( ABUSIVE DEVELOPERS)

I have a riddle for all of you. Whoever gets it right gets all my asylum $$ because I have no use for it since I dun't play. 
"A man gets a job as a traveling salesman, he is required to travel to all 48
states, but is only allowed to do so once. What state does he end up in?"

Maine, I heard about that riddle long ago. If he starts in maine he ends up in California as Maine is the only state to be bordered by one state.

I've been given the same riddle somewhere else, It is supposed to be an "unsolvable" riddle since there is no definitive one answer.
