Speeding ticket - probable cause?

Recommended Posts

If you have a bounty of $500 or more, it will give probable cause for a search to be conducted. In the example you gave, where you would have 50 or so speeding, it would only give cause to seize your driver's license and impound your vehicle. (The magic number for your license to be seized is ~20+ speeding tickets)

Officers have probable cause only when a civilian's charges add up to $500 or more or are given consent by the civilian. Other scenarios such as offroading without a viable reason, being within an illegal area, and going around a manned checkpoint also give an officer authority to search the civilian.
