  1. Vehicles We're not ok with admin's flying around in vehicles like the VTOL that aren't normally accessible to normal players, as they tend to break immersion. We are tolerant of some spawned vehicles if they are used for an event. A VTOL seems excessive unless it's needed for a special event designed around its use. In the past, before jets were accessible, we did allow admins to fly around in them as long as they were out of sight of most players. Either at high altitudes over the mainland or out at sea, and feel a similar approach should be taken with most other vehicles. I personally doubt a VTOL was used for general gameplay, or to capture cartels as was suggested by another post. Something of that nature would be very alarming to us, and would have consequences. Gear We do allow our admins to use admin generated funds to buy their gear. We consider access to this tool to be a sort of privilege or payment for the volunteer work they do for Asylum. However, they are expected to stay within the means of what a normal player would purchase for an average loadout, and we frown upon excessive or expensive purchases. We don't usually mind if they occasionally purchase a set of gear for a player or two, as long as they follow the same expectations. Like vehicles, our staff should not be spawning weapons or gear that is not normally accessible to players, with the exception of special events that are designed around the use of those specific items. I'm sure we can have a pow-wow with the staff to remind everyone what is and isn't acceptable use of the admin tools. If you see excessive use of any of these things from Asylum staff, feel free to report it to a Community Manager. We take admin abuse seriously and have removed friends and staff in the past for this specific reason. Reports on specific admins in the player report section will be answered by a Community Manager (I am not a CM), but it is preferable that you use private messages when reporting staff.

    We Made It

Yeah, he probably has infinite. So cheap! Guy should be handing them out left and right.
  3. Someday, I hope to read a patch notes thread where everyone is actually grateful for the work put in by our devs and contributors.
  4. I sent a link to this thread to Paratus but I was having these issues with memory errors before our update today too. We'll have him check up on things and try to find a solution.
  5. Appears so. I was on the server when it lost connection but thought it had only been me. It should be back up now.
  6. A lot of nice ideas there, but we won't do a monthly subscriptions for donations. While we do need support to keep servers running (believe me, it was looking grim there for a while), some business models we feel are asking too much. If you support us in any way, we want to be able to show our thanks forever.
  7. PM Paratus if you believe you are missing content after purchasing a loot crate key. It is possible that if you tried using a key after the feature was implemented, you might not have received the reward but were refunded the key. Alternatively, a few lucky people also probably received the reward and had their key returned to them. As far as I know, Paratus is also planning on adding additional items to crates, and possibly allowing players to trade/sell their extra loot through our website, which you will be able to set your own price for.
  8. Well said Buckwalter. The simple answer is that we acknowledge that a vanilla ArmA 3 Life server can't compete with the immersive roleplay of modded servers. Players who enjoy roleplay will always prefer the more immersive environment, so instead Asylum caters to a mix between those people who purchased ArmA 3 for the Mil-sim aspects, and those who want a taste of what modding can offer. Identity is our solution to the modded server. Our original plan was to be the first modded Life community, and we quickly changed focus as we realized we had the resources to take it a step further. Believe it or not, Asylum has an identity crisis, where it still wants to be a roleplay community, but is also really proud of the competitive environment that has sprung up from gang warfare. There is just something there that the RP aspect adds to gang warfare that you can't find in normal PVP servers. Take Wasteland or King of the Hill for instance. A victory with your friends feels less meaningful there than in a persistent world where you know your actions have had an impact on the community and its political landscape.
  9. Really? Because these patch notes are almost exclusively based on a meeting we had with rebel leaders.
  10. We can't make changes to files that we use from the Workshop. We would need to upload it to our own Asylum package, or talk to the publisher of the mod and ask them to make the changes. The only other option would be to remove or replace them. Right now, they are the only thing that looks like a police car. That said, we have been in contact with Jonzie, and he has agreed to make adjustments to the vehicles in his package. I do not know when that will be available though.
  11. Welcome Paradise, I see you come to us from Seal Team Sloth! I was once an admin there when Tonic was still their developer, before we started Asylum!
  12. I'm not sure how it could become like CG. We aren't changing our rules for this server. Most of these modded servers have problems because their staff don't really understand game mechanics. They want things to be too realistic. Doesn't make sense to punish someone by putting a user in prison for 8 hours for playing the game the way it is meant to be played. Identity is a standalone game built on Unreal Engine 4! It is our attempt at giving life mods, which have existed throughout gaming wherever modding has been possible over the years, its own genre. People have been saying Asylum has been dying since the first month. Still here and still the top Life server in NA, and definitely the longest standing Life server in ArmA 3. We might have been the top server in ArmA at one point, but the landscape changed as we've always expected.
  13. I really stirred the pot here it seems. Simply gauging interest! Don't kill me!
