Seizing houses as "proceeds of crime"

Recommended Posts

So currently a police LT has the ability to search a house and seize illegal contraband in the house creates. I want to suggest that if during searching if over $200 thousand is found that the LT should have the ability to seize the house as "Proceeds of crime".

The house would remain off the market until the next server restart. The owner would be unable to repurchase it until after the restart.

Seizing a house as I have listed below would be designed to be a rare occurrence but would be possible in extreme cases such as gang houses with large amounts of drugs, weapons etc.

So to seize a house a few things should be met:

  • Fugitive bounty over $75 thousand and must be serious crimes such as manslaughter
  • Fugitive must meet the normal house raiding guidelines. They must be seen to enter/leave the house.
  • Fugitives would have to resist arrest in the house + meet the bounty amount and the contraband amount.
  • Over $200 thousand in the house creates at time of search of the creates
  • Wait time: A wait time of 5 minutes after searching the creates and establishing the house can be seized must be met.
This is to allow gangs / friends the ability to come and retake the house from the cops.
The wait time stops if the cops come under attack and resets after an all clear is given (if they survive the attack).
  • If all cops are wiped at a house seize during the wait period, the seize is for fitted and the cops cannot return.
  • As per raiding, only Lieutenants and Captains would be able to seize a house
  • Lesser punishments could include: seizing of the actual create instead of the whole house, depending on the amount of contraband found at the time of search / decision of the seizing officer.

  • A seized house would become the property of the Asylum Police Department until restart (since it has been seized by the cops)

This could have the potential to make things more fun for gangs since they would want to prevent the seizing of the house, so would increase the RP / pleas to the seizing officer who's decision it would be. This could also lead to more interesting engagements with the APD as gangs/friends attempt to retake a house during the wait period.

This is easy to suggest coming from someone who plays 100% cop. This idea will just cause more problems than anything. Most people know where one another houses are so all they have to do is sit at the house or close to it, chase them, hope they run to it and get it seized by a higher up or call for one to help or just go and check that said persons house when theyre online. Maybe the house can be a crime scene and just be locked or something for a period of time but getting rid of the entire house is the dumbest shit ive heard in a while.

Possibly locked out till restart as Sean said, but taking the house from their inventory? Nah

Houses exist largely to secure a player relatively safe storage.

Storage is associated with the donation of IRL funds to help keep the Asylum servers up and running.

The key part of that, is for the player to maintain those assets with they have spent IRL funds to obtain. In-Game seizure of such assets during the normal course of using those assets for the very purpose they were designed and implemented (see Alcohol Aging) is not something that the Administration or the Development teams so desire at the current time. It is highly likely that this will never be something that is considered due to the nature of player housing, and storage in general.

We appreciate the thought and effort put into this suggestion, however we will not be implementing this.

Kind Regards,

The Asylum Administration Team.

What he said.
