  1. This is good content, someone need to do a combat zone news report style of video.
  2. Have you tried the front gate? It's about as wide as the grand canyon and no one ever watches it. *honk* | *wait* | Did civ move? | | No Yes | | *ram* *drive through*
  3. Maybe even if it was a server that came online for a few months of the year it would be pretty sweet.
  4. Asylum has been doing pretty well over the past few weeks. Even hitting max server population for a while each day. I figured I'd throw out the idea of a Malden server with a few suggested changes from Altis to give it a different vibe. Some of these ideas might be a bit more radical but I think they could be an interesting change. Objectives: New player friendly. De-escalation of current state of warfare. Balanced money making (looking at you old Tanoa). Additions/Re-additons: Winemaking. Works similar to aging whiskey: collect grapes, process, ferment. Time aging increases value but letting it age too long will result in it spoiling. More random events. Things to draw people together. Example: The town of X is putting on a competition to see who can collect the most grapes. The winner gets a prize and grapes sell for 20% more at the market for 10 minutes. Bring back racing Treasure Hunting Things to keep: Excavation Boat Drug Running Crafting Legal jobs. Mining, oil, DP deliveries, etc. Changes for Malden (mainly due to map size): Reduced maximum server pop (60/80?) Reduced drug options. Perhaps just heroin and plain coke. Reduced federal event options. Just bank and prison? Maybe lockup too? Removal of armored and armed vehicles. Including Orcas? Removal of 7.62+ weapons. Low cop/bounty hunter max caliber to 5.56? Alternative idea: weapons importing event that is available when server it at high pop. Rebels can request an airdrop at a high cost. Able to get 7.62 rifles but there is competition for them, even cops can try to bust. Weapons can't be stored in houses. Same idea could be applied to armored vehicles, make them not ownable/storeable. Removal/Reduction in number of cartels. Maximum of 1-2 ownable houses. Bounty hunting with a lowered minimum for bounties (10k?) This list could probably changed and expanded in many ways but I am really just craving a map other than Altis. Tanoa would be cool too but that's another post.
  5. The tan just looks so bad on cop. Bonus point if it can be done for the nvgs given by the perk.
  6. Great work on everything! Thank you @Patato for your hard work on this in particular: Question, I spent quite a bit on crypto upgrades on a house I sold later (for much less). Will it be possible to get a return on that money spent? It was about 4 million on house crypto upgrades before even install console. Oh what a fool I was... Kavala will be glowing tonight. Could the destruction of property charge be used with these? Like in the case of a house fire burning down a house and a civilian admitting to lighting the fire?
  7. I don't think it's a terrible design in itself but its proximity to spawn points, player homes, and the gun store has resulted is some pretty chaotic sessions. That's not necessarily bad on it's own but it can get a little bit ridiculous with high pop. Arrest civ Process Release civ Civ buys guns Civ returns to attack HQ Die/Repeat (Probably die cause I'm bad at Arma lol) 10+ civs doing that in parallel while trying to process other civs is where I go 😕 I think the general sentiment among officers is that the old HQ was preferred but I haven't heard many other opinions/reason for the change.
  8. Was the group/gang member list removed intentionally? May have been last patch. The menu you got when holding 0 (zero). Edit: Oh is that the domination group menu?
  9. Great changes all around! Especially the speeding changes! I would still like to see the Exchange max time extended further, max listing increased, and listing fee removed/reduced. Give Sofia love pls
  10. Following an Athira bank robbery, lawyer KyleOnGfuel was able to successfully negotiate the freedom of citizens Kyle and Cody. Congratulations to KyleOnGfuel for this massive win for justice system. Rumors about a remote device being detonated moments after this photo was captured are being actively investigated by the APD.
  11. The Exchange needs love, please keep it coming :D
  12. But actually, why not Malden life?
  13. I really enjoy the landscape and vibe of the Sofia area but there isn't really any reason to be over there most of the time. I think adding a few of the basics that other spawn towns offer would make it far more appealing: - Boat Spawn. Perhaps near Molos or SE of Sofia, for accessing excavation locations, hunting turtles (suggested below), and the aircraft carrier when it spawns near Sofia. - Wongs. Sofia is the only major city without a Wongs. Beneficial to distillers and turtle hunters if those get added (suggested below). - Commodities Trader. Sofia is the only major city without a Commodities Trader. Will make life bearable for excavators (oil), barrel processor (oil/rubber), and wood cutters (nobody cuts wood but still). I know that some have been saying that the variety of illegal activities is too high and I don't disagree but I do think the area would benefit from the following: - Spirit Distillery. Owning a home with an aging barrel is practically pointless if it's not at least located on the Northwestern portion of the map. I think Sofia is a great area for another. - Turtle Hunting Location. To help balance out the map. Other ideas/thoughts?
  14. I hope this thread isn't too old for this to still be seen. I was very excited when I returned to see the Asylum Exchange but a few minutes with it left me sad. With items having a maximum of three days, high listing fees, and clunky search functionality the Exchange is in a nearly unusable state. The exchange, as it was before, made a really great opportunity for crafters to make money. Really the biggest harm to the exchange is the three day cap. There is no chance for anything to sell and there are hardly ever any listings so what's the point of even checking it.
  15. I'm just wondering how people are feeling about this one. As a returning player I have found it quite difficult to find reasonable homes on the island. I'm sure this is effecting new players as well. Being down to one server I think we are seeing a lot of hoarding occurring. It seems kind of crazy that someone could purchase five houses and then just sit on them by logging in once a month. I think lowering the cap could help with this issue. An alternative could be making groups of houses in each major city rentable. Players would get access to a house with upgrades preinstalled and would have access to it for a month. Other players could check the expiration date to have a chance at renting it. Another alternative, add more housing. Probably has server performance downsides.
  16. I enjoy roleplaying as cop in large towns but both the cop and civ population have changed along with what each expect of one another. Something I will continue to do, even if I end up dead most of the time, is approach wanted civs with my weapon lowered/holstered. I think making opportunities for roleplay is a responsibility of mine as an officer. That being said, I feel like I'm being pushed away from towns. Athira is just a war zone and getting shot in the back by unaffiliated civs while processing doesn't quite compare to busting drug fields or taking on a fed event (even though I have mixed feelings about the latter).
  17. Would you be able to elaborate on this? How was you experience with gang life impacted?
  18. An Introduction Hi all, Great to be playing with many of you again. When I was still playing Asylum back in 2017 there four servers with a fifth for Tanoa that always had mixed numbers and was shutdown. As time has gone on people have sought out new games, as they do. Today, retaining Asylum's player base is obviously important to keep a roleplay server going. The issues the server faces are multifaceted so I would like to look at just one today that has reaching impacts. What Once Was When I began playing in December of 2015, the server was at an all time high for player count and forum engagement even after the databases, backups included, were maliciously wiped. Jump on a server at any time of day and people were sitting in drug fields, mining, excavating, fighting cartels/turfs, and robbing banks. One of my first experiences was getting hot dropped on by FSA while I was mining salt in a flat bed to sell vermins. While that may bring up concerns about new player retention, we'll save that for another day. Today let's focus on The Money Cap One million dollars. Yep, that's all we could have and damn it kept us busy. Earning rates were about the same but there were far less options at the time. Meth and cocaine were frequently ran, mostly by the larger gangs. If you were solo or in a small group you might turn to heroin or weed to make money. Those already busy or getting robbed there? Take your shot at legal jobs which had comparable payouts to heroin or weed. With everyone moving around constantly there were many more interactions to be had. With a money cap there was never a reason to disengage with a large portion of the content available. A large issue I see right now is how much more rewarding gang related money making methods are when compared to non-gang related methods. For a healthy balance, the best gang should break even. Rebel activities should be the reward, the finish line. And just as soon as you reach that, you can just as easily be thrust back into the trenches. Rewarding Our Loyal Players The prestige system was present long ago. Under this system money that was earned beyond the money cap was converted into prestige points. This came with it's own rewards but was quite lackluster for a long period of time. This eventually changed to allow for a no money cap situations. Collect enough prestige and the money cap would rise. I wouldn't bring back this increasing money cap though. Instead, with a money cap and prestige system in place, I would look to giving our players various rewards to enjoy across the island. This used to manifest as titles like Tycoon (which is in a weird place right now if you fall below the requirements for the title it gets removed) and access to buy the civilian jet. These were just status symbols though. I think more permanent, impactful benefits could be had. One example of this might be a flat increase of 50 storage space on all vehicles pulled for those who meet the prestige requirement. Other examples might be various discounts. Taking millions away from our long term players, myself included, is going to hurt but I hope some of the potential benefits to server health and longevity are clear. Wrapping Up A money cap will keep players engaged in the economy which our server revolves around. New players will enjoy a more even playing field as older players would be subject to economic risk once again. Loosing a 20k+ loadout would be 2% of any players maximum bank account. Old players will likely be split on this kind of change. For some, it will only be seen at progress lost. I would encourage them to see it as an opportunity to reengage with the server as a whole instead of the secluded stance many now take. Last Scattered Thoughts Housing market will be effected but this is really a topic to be addressed on it's own. House hoarding and 5 maximum houses leave few options for new and returning players. Players should be more than welcome to store money through assets like vehicles and stored geared.
