Tested it. There might be a difference at range but >50m (what I tested it at) it had absolutely no differences. Didn't bother to test at a long range though.

If they were free of collision then they would start falling through floors. I believe that is why the collision idea started. Die on any kind of structure and your shit hits the dirt below the structure.
