  1. Looks great. I believe they're going to use DX12 so they're expecting a big performance boost. But I'm not sure how all of that works.
  2. This is from yesterday's news. http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/19/health/exploding-vaporizer-rip-tongue-trnd/ And a bonus clip:
  3. Asylum is all about having fun and part of that is avoiding unnecessary constraints and pointless virtual bureaucracy. I know many communities choose to confine players to a given role and even go so far as forbidding any deviation from their chosen faction, but in my opinion that is a recipe for boredom and frustration. Why would you force people to forego 50% of the available content? Why would you punish people who needed a break from cop/rebel and wanted to try the other side? Roleplay is a great thing and it is one of the things that makes Asylum awesome. But dictating how people can play a game in order to maintain a sense of long term RP continuity for their virtual personas just makes the experience worse. In my opinion everyone should be able to play however they want, whenever they want as long as their is no crossover in the process, E.G. gangs waging war on their rivals while playing cop.
  4. Oh nice man, I didn't know you started streaming. Good job man, the dancing is a little weird though....haha
  5. You killed Gary Johnson man. Illuminati conspiracy orchestrated by the shadow masters that run this planet from their secret underground bunkers in Geneva wanted the one libertarian candidate gone cause he was going to expose their chemtrails and plans to outlaw bitcoin and flood the water with murder pillz. I knows u alls think is a joke but well sea woo laffin wen duh gubbermant comes fer yer wife and forces you into slave laber at a FEEMA camp. This right her is symbology fer what's comin'. U beein exposed reptilian trash. Th e pueople gon rise up and throw all you free mason, skullz n bonez mofuckers out of office. Ron Paul 2012. Sorry, I'm bored.
  6. Pretty sure you were supposed to sing it to this tune. We're going to need a revised version. And put some feeling into it.
  7. Message an admin or go on TS. It's a really simple fix, just need to manually link the account and you'll be all set.
  8. Sometimes this happens, it can be a very frustrating issue to deal with. Here are some things to try in the order I would recommend trying them. Sadly this issue can be caused by a number of things, so start with the less drastic stuff and work your way up if need be. 1) Go back to lobby and switch spots repeatedly. Sometimes it will take a good number of tries. 2) Join a different Asylum server, sync data, play for a little bit then switch to the server you originally wanted to play. 3) If you get the same error on a different Asylum server, try a different arma server. Play for a few minutes, try asylum again. 4) If you still get the error when trying to log in, verify Game Cache as Sean recommended. 5) If that doesn't help, delete the mission file for Asylum (Documents>Arma3>Saved>mpMissions) 6) If you still can't get in after deleting and redownloading mission file, delete your DLL's and try again without verifying game cache. 7) If none of that works, reinstall Arma 3
  9. I kind of miss night time, but I really miss dawn and dusk. The oppressive monotony of constant, high noon sun, partly cloudy and a little haze really gets old. I really miss the variety. Wish there was a way to have extended periods of dawn and dusk with a seriously shortened night cycle. Also more weather variety.
  10. I think that if everyone sat down and really thought about what is adding value to the server 6 experience and decided to trim the fat, it could easily be successful. Obviously everyone is going to feel differently but in the scope of my relatively limited observations, people really enjoy the weapons, the vehicle variety (but not handling on current map), most seem to enjoy the fresh start (though certainly not everyone), and most people enjoy the change of scenery. Though they don't like the specific map. If you took those long sought-after modded elements over to a map that was free of Australia's performance woes, boring aesthetic similarity to Altis, and impractically large size, I think it would be very popular. Australia just comes with too many obstacles. It is too large. Even if this issue is mitigated by careful placement of key locations, the sheer amount of dead space is insane. It looks too much like Altis to really add much in the way of variety to the Asylum experience, other than urban environments and memory leaks. Additionally, modded vehicles handle extremely poorly on this map which only serves to make driving 30km to the nearest town more frustrating. Initially Australia seemed like an original and refreshing map choice and the Dev team did a great job trying to make it a success. But the innate drawbacks of the Australia terrain are just too great and no amount of painstaking reworking is likely to change that. I personally believe that a transition to a more stable map, preferably with a markedly different climate from Altis, would immediately revitalize server six. There are a number of gameplay improvements that I would like to see, but all of them are trivial in comparison. Balance adjustments, refinement of faction weaponry selections/accouterments, and fiscal incentives for varied gameplay styles will ultimately prove inconsequential if the map issues aren't resolved. TL;DR: While initially promising, the Australia terrain is holding server 6 back. In my opinion, the fastest way to get six back on track is changing the map. Otherwise all development efforts are just band-aids on bullet holes.
  11. I think shark attack would be the worst way to go. Many species of shark attack their prey from below. So for me the thought of getting wrecked by an angry sea-beast from below while surfing is pretty much the worst. Getting chomped, then violently thrashed and dragged down until you bleed to death just seems like the absolute worst way to go. Thankful you're more likely to get taken out by a vending machine than a shark. Other shitty ways to go: Cancer Burning alive Starvation
  12. Watched for 30 seconds, heard jokes about murdered children, lost faith in humanity. Pretty much par for the course on Asylum's TS lol.
  13. Has the map update improved the performance issues?
  14. I feel your pain man. Everyone has that one friend that just can't be trusted to fly the heli.
  15. Adobe Media Encoder is far and away the best option. Very intuitive, offers a great deal of control, or quick presets for things like youtube etc. Highly recommend it.
  16. Context please. I was going to mock, but I'll reserve judgement. Why did you do that?

    whoops

Bummed I missed it. I'd imagine it was pretty entertaining. When is the next podcast?
  18. The GIF at 0:23 always gets me. Too good. I miss old Asylum.
  19. Vape Naysh Y'all
  20. Nah man, it will be fine. Comp will take as long as it always has, maybe even a little shorter in a few weeks since they're taking on new admins. Yeah every server does things a little differently in terms of what they're willing to comp for and how they go about fulfilling them. Due to the shear volume of requests asylum receives, and some pretty severe issues with dishonest or highly exaggerated requests in the past, our comp process now takes longer than some other communities. But at least you know that each incident is being thoroughly looked into and you'll get what you're due every time. Though it would be nice if the fulfillment process could be streamlined in such a way that the player didn't have to wait in teamspeak.
  21. I may be giving you too much credit here, but you were replying to Sheriff Rick Grimes so I'm just going to hope that you were referencing this. If so +1,000,000
  22. I agree. Initially when it was decided that the modded server would be on the Australia map, I was pretty disappointed. I remember thinking to myself, isn't that the one where half of the map is just a bunch of sand dunes? But as we did more and more testing I got increasingly excited about it and ended up feeling like it was a good choice. I was still bummed that we went with a map so aesthetically similar to altis rather than something really new and different. But once the server launched I started feeling like the map was too big for the player count and all of the sudden a number of severe performance issues started to appear. I think it's a great map, with a ton of awesome roleplay-oriented features that made it really promising, however it just isn't well suited for Asylum. Life mods live and die on the level of player interaction they provide and sadly Australia just doesn't allow for very much. And I feel like a different map could offer more inspiration for roleplay. Something like Takistan or even Cherno, could offer a lot of fun roleplay opportunities and themed gangs. Additionally they both look quite nice and are absolutely amazing in terms of performance. But Alas, Tanoa will soon be upon us and hopefully we'll all be cruising around on jetskis. I'm not sure if Paratus is planning on a Tanoa server but I really hope so.
