  1. Thanks for the kind words man. I've always enjoyed dealing with you Kuklinski and you've always been a reasonable and chill guy to me. Going all the way back to that first time I caught you at the methlab when I was a senior constable. Good times.
  2. I can't speak for everyone else's reasoning, but I left because I've been very busy and I didn't want to hold the position and not be able to contribute very much. Have there been some taxing circumstances or systemic issues I wished had been different? Of course, but that doesn't mean there is some nefarious conspiracy out there forcing people to leave. A lot of times change begets change. You see a couple of your friends move on, your passion for the gameplay wanes, you start feeling the weight of the negativity and abuse that surrounds you, and eventually you ask yourself if you're still the right guy for the job. Do you still have the enthusiasm to tolerate the bullshit and do everything in your power to actively improve the community? Can you still endure the stress of going against the crowd to do the right thing even when it's unpopular? Can you still be patient with the people who lie to you in ban appeals because they're afraid of punishment when really you just want to correct their behavior and move on? and lastly can you bring a little positivity or joy to members of the community? If you ask yourself those questions long enough eventually the answer for at least one of them is going to be no and then it's time to move on. If you stop asking yourself those questions entirely, you've lost track of what it means to be an admin. So for me I just didn't have enough free time so I was much more inactive than I would like, combine that with a lot of complex behind the scenes factors and the generally burdensome nature of the position and it was just time to move on and make way for someone else. I realize that this is probably a lot more nebulous than the answer you wanted, but I think it's important that people understand these things aren't always born out of anger or disaffection. Sometimes people just need to go. Also Bada invited me on a really creepy sounding camping trip, so I peaced the fuck out ASAP. Anyway, that's why I left. I'm sure everyone has their own unique reasons but everyone went out on good terms.
  3. Correct. So no need for anyone to start with the conspiracy theories. Anyway thank you for the kind words everyone. Also, @JacobHarr you should feel super special since you were my last ever comp haha. I was literally writing my stepping down message while fulfilling your comp haha.
  4. Hey now, I left before the admin team was even told that there would be a change in community managers. But now that you mention it, I don't like @Volunteer281, he recommended I try watching Fear the Walking Dead last year. That's an hour of my life I'm never getting back hahaha
  5. Such a big loss for the staff and the community as a whole. We go way back, we used to RP all the time on cop, you were instrumental in showing me the ropes of being an admin, you've been a valued member of the admin KOTH squad (in spite of all Jin's yelling haha). I appreciate everything you've done for me personally and for the community as a whole. You've always been one of the good guys. I'm sad to see you go, but at least there will still be plenty of opportunity for us to dunk on sniper pussies in KOTH together. It's too bad things have come to this, but times change. It's been a fun man, all the best.
  6. If I remember correctly (and I could be way off here) some of the achievements require you to go one beyond the listed value. So try getting one more arrest and it should work. But again, take that information with a grain of salt. Anyway, grats on the achievement, hopefully you'll be able to rock a sweet new title now.
  7. Sad to see you step down man. You've always been an extremely kind, helpful, and fair guy. More than once you've provided a voice of reason, prudence and fastidious consideration in situations where others (myself) were acting hastily. I have immense respect for you and I've always enjoyed working with you man. This is a big loss Either way, I'll see you around in game and hopefully on teamspeak. All the best man.
  8. Jaws of Life Hype!!!! No more getting left behind because I'm stuck in a burning car. Now my deadly driving will be slightly less deadly. Good job dev squad and welcome KBW, thank you all for your time and effort.

    Wtf

I've got your back. We're going to blow the lid off this thing.

    Wtf

Well if it's a conspiracy to shitpost and cover up the correct spelling of the word "right", I'd say you've cracked it.
  11. Thanks for the kind words. But it was time. I'm just too busy. Maybe one day when my schedule is a little less crazy I'll prostrate myself before Olio and Volunteer and see if they'll have me back. But I have a feeling we'll all be playing identity by then.....or hiding in fallout shelters post 2016 presidential election.....interpret that however you see fit.
  12. Oh, sorry I didn't clarify. You could easily make existing animations play with a keybind rather than having to type it out. The difficulty is in getting the new animations. I'm honestly not sure where the existing ones came from or whether or not new animations can be used without a mod. I honestly have no idea on that. I guess I've just assume that it requires mods due to the relative rarity of custom animations. Who knows though. As for the existing emotes, #explain will cover like 60% of roleplay situations haha
  13. Sounds like someone has been enjoying the Dark Souls gestures. I'm kidding, could be a cool idea. However I'm not sure how possible it would be to create new animations without modding. Also I think an emote for giving the finger would be grotesquely overused haha.
  14. Just for fun, let's all send Killswitch admin related questions forever. Speaking of which, my quadbike blew up when I rammed a police helicopter, can I have comp? hahaha EDIT: Just to be on the safe side, that was a joke. Don't ram helicopters.
  15. Sadly, memory leaks aren't something Paratus can fix. They're a bohemia/terrain issue rather than an Asylum issue.
  16. If you're really hoping to see the location change, explain what you dislike about the current location and if possible give a few suggested alternatives.
  17. Always good to see streamers around. And while promotion from streamers was definitely a boost for Asylum in the past, can't blame the guy at all for keeping it to himself. Back in the day Lirik got stream sniped and fucked with so regularly that he stopped playing. Came back for like 15 minutes 6 months later, got stream sniped/trolled as soon as he logged on and that was pretty much the end of it. These guys are still trying to enjoy their gameplay, even if they have 1,500,000 subscribers. Anyway thanks for sharing the video.
  18. I'm always astonished by these "flex your rights" types. How do they really expect it to go? "I'm not driving, I'm traveling" -Guy who thinks he's an attorney "Oh my mistake sir, by all means continue traveling" -said no cop ever. Don't get me wrong, it's important to understand your rights and what police can and cannot legally do. But why wouldn't you just politely comply, then call a lawyer if something illegal happened? Instead they elect to get into pissing matches with the cops and proceed to act surprised when the pepper spray comes out. And the craziest part of all is these self professed "legal experts" don't even seem to understand that a cop can absolutely order you out of your vehicle during a traffic stop. Guess he missed that article on howToPretendToBeAnAttorney.org
  19. haha it's all good man. I'm just playing around.
  20. Since I didn't make the list, I voted for Pedrico.
  21. Sadly due to technical limitations, investigating RDM from a third party perspective is pretty much impossible. There is no way to know whether or not active combat is ongoing, whether they've been texted to put their hands up or die, whether someone has issued a command or any of the other possible intangible factors. Then there are the logistic limitations of having people spending their time just sitting in the server waiting for a possible RDM incident. I totally understand your frustration and I agree that sometimes the time elapsed between the incident and the ban can be too long, but right now we're working to the best of our ability within the practical and technical limitations. I realize this is probably not the answer you're after but I hope it at least clarifies why we do things the way that we do.
  22. People this desperate for attention are always cringe-worthy.
  23. I personally agree with you. Many in the staff do as well. However when it comes to ban lengths and sufficient evidence guidelines, we have to follow the policies in place. Contrary to what some might say, these things aren't discretionary. There are rigid rules in place that we have to follow. If it were up to me, people who knowingly, purposefully, or maliciously broke the rules regularly would be permanently removed from the community more quickly. However, the policies that the community managers have set for escalation of ban times etc, serve a valid and extremely important purpose. They prevent abuse of power. The same goes for the evidentiary standards. If someone could be permanently banned on a discretionary basis, it could potentially open the door for people who were undeserving of a perm getting banned or people banning from insufficient evidence. Another thing to consider is that many times when a player is banned, it is due to ignorance of the rules or a bad decision made in the heat of the moment. This being the case, if we're able to talk to someone, help them understand the rules and ensure that it doesn't happen again, there is no further need for them to be banned. Our end goal is the correction of behavior rather than punishment. But sadly, some people take advantage of our good will and continue to break the rules even after being given a break. So I definitely get where you're coming from, and I personally would give habitual rule breakers less slack, but the policies in place do serve a purpose and are very useful in preventing administrative abuses. But there are some cases where we could do better in this regard. Players with long histories of disregarding the rules, breaking them deliberately, mistreating people in the community and all around detracting from the quality of others' experiences. Sometimes in the past we have been too lenient and allowed people too much slack. I'll see if I can talk to the CM's about revisiting some of these policies and ensuring that people who repeatedly and maliciously break the rules are removed from the community more quickly.
  24. I understand and can certainly empathize with your frustration. However, it's somewhat more complicated than simply "getting shit together." First, the nature of RDM/VDM make it difficult to police. It's not a process that can be automated via logging, battleye, or scripted solution. This is compounded by the fact that the oft suggested solution of having admins in game monitoring the situation 24/7 would be ineffective too since they wouldn't be privy to texts, group combat, or verbal initiation. And that of course is to say nothing of the logistic impracticality of having people spend their free time sitting in kavala square in case someone is RDMed. A lot of people then go on to suggest that we shouldn't be so stringent in our evidentiary requirements. But sadly, due to either widespread misconceptions about the rules, or perhaps malice, we receive a surprising number of reports in which no rules were broken. So eschewing our more thorough approach and instead banning on conjecture would be disastrous and only serve to ruin a lot of people's experience on Asylum with false bans. So we are left with the balance we've currently struck; relying on the community to record and report then taking the appropriate action. Sometimes this system is ineffectual, sometimes people who should be banned aren't, sometimes people that shouldn't be are due to the way things appear in a video, sometimes repeat offenders are given too much leniency, sometimes past offenders are treated unnecessarily harshly. We try very hard to make the right decisions and ensure a fun and RDM free experience, but due to technical as well as practical limitations, there will always be cases where people break the rules. Please record and report any violations you witness. And lastly, if you find these things are happening frequently and it's harming your experience, leave Kavala. As the starter city, it's the most likely to have new players who haven't yet learned the rules in addition to providing the largest possible audience for those who wish to break the rules intentionally or troll people for attention. Leave Kavala and I think you'll find these instances are quite rare. Hope this has addressed your concerns and helped you understand why we do things the way we do.
