Anyone use OBS?

Been messing around with it lately but I can't seem to grab a quality video. It all seems pixelated when I go to watch the footage.

How does one get shadowplay quality using OBS or does anyone have any recommendations on free video recording software that has 1080p quality video?

OBS is difficult because it will only broadcast at a certain quality, unless you are partnered I believe.   There are a bunch of tutorials on getting the highest frames and quality out of OBS. You should still be able to get a high quality that is not pixelated

I mean it is high quality, but still not as great as shadowplay. So it's possible that i'm maxed?

Go into the setting and you can select the shadowplay options.  I think its under codex? Ill check when I get home if someone else hasnt confirmed by then.

I use OBS, max quality 1080p with 60 fps too. And I love it. Saw a tut on the internet how to do it. And no pixelated bs

My only issue with shadowplay is it makes me download the latest driver fro my Nvidia GTX860 card, which doesnt work for half of my games. I have to use a version that is a few months old. Otherwise I would use shadowplay for those moments that need to be saved or memorialized.

Reason why I don't use shadowplay is because it crashes my pc every once in a while. So I only use it if I absolutely need to.

The files take up a lot of space, especially when you're manually recording instead of just saving the last 10 minutes. However, I think you can set up OBS to work like that if you prefer.

Yea, if you are not trying to stream, you can really crank up those settings.

Might start using OBS if this helps. I resorted to shadow play after I gave up on OBS quality.

I've always heard that you're bitrate shouldn't be higher than your upload speed too.

there are videos on how to fix the quality but it will hurt your frames in game.

I use to use OBS to stream and sometimes record, now i use shadowplay, obs can be great for recording however, it does take a lot of your CPU, and can cause you to lose frames. get an NVIDIA graphics card for Shadowplay, i find it way better
