In terms of offer one I see no reason why you couldn't offer the civilian another option if he so wishes to. Although I wouldnt start messaging civs saying hey you have a 100k bounty want to do TBC. I would offer it when processing them. i.e I notice you have  a bounty of 100k would you like to pay your ticket or we could offer you the chance of TBC etc etc etc

Agreed.  I would just add on: don't forget to fulfill all the other requirements of the TBC.  Most importantly, that the suspect turned themselves in, has a bounty >= $100k, was not aggressive towards cops in the last 60 mins, is SGT-approved etc.

Mainly, just don't override those requirements because you're offering the TBC instead of the civilian requesting one.

Are you allowed to let someone go that is wanted for any amount?

I mean lets say you catch someone that has been speeding but he says he's after his bounty so he needs to go quick.

Can you just be like, hey nevermind the charge just be on your way? (I assume yes because its such a minor charge)

However lets say someone is wanted for manslaughter and other charged ect, you catch him but he has a sob story about him needing to rescue his family ect. (Going along with his RP) can you just be a softie and turn the other way? I assume this can be ABUSED like everything but theres no ruling on it as far as i know.

I sometimes have had times where someone highly wanted asked for transport, he would text me and kindly ask (baring the risk that i could fck him over).

But being a nice cop that i was i gave people lifts aslong as they didnt have any on going aggresive behaviour (for example carrying a illegal firearm or saying he needs to kill people from another gang or w/e)

TL;DR: is it upto the officers discretion either he arrests someone or lets him go, turn a blind eye once a blue moon? (And if so, till what extend, can you ignore illegal items or let someone with charges walk?)

In the case of the guy with 1 speeding charge, why would you "turn a blind eye" instead of just pardon their $2 bounty?  Likewise for the guy who got a manslaughter saving his family, why would you not pardon the manslaughter since it was RP self defense?  You should deal with bounties that you interact with, but how you deal with them is up to you (so long as you stay within our policies, obviously.)

Giving a ride to a known criminal and/or felon and then letting them go I can't see as justifiable, in or out of RP.  I can imagine only a handful of edge cases where you might need to do that, but almost always I would say don't do that.

I think an important distinction you should remember is that letting somebody who is already in your custody leave with their charges intact is frowned upon and could easily be abused or result in corruption.  (If you know they have a bounty and you let them get away with it, what kind of message does that send to the civilians?  Pardons or discounts for civilians that RP or are compliant and nice is encouraged, just make sure you're following our policies.)

However, as an officer, you are not required to chase after every bounty that you see.  (This is a huge mistake that I see Cadets and new Constables make.  They'll be talking to a $5k bounty, see a $12k bounty across the street, run over to restrain them, see another $2k bounty, run over to restrain them, etc until the whole square is restrained.)  Obviously, don't bite off more than you can chew.

Many times I'll be by the DMV in a busy city and there could be half a dozen to a dozen civs there, all with bounties between $1k-80k+.  You can't process them all, even with a buddy or two.  Sure, you could approach a few and ask them about their charges, but the way I see it, if they don't come to us to chat they'll get the ol' "straight to jail by Bounty Hunter" charge.  ; )

  3. The difference between 16 and 17 years old doesn't seem like a big difference.  I'll grant you that.  However I will say that if you could see the difference in the number of internal affairs reports and complaints we got once we made the limit 17, you would understand why we have the age limit.

There was a period of time when we allowed cops of all ages to apply.  As far as I know, every single cop that got in under the age of 17 has gotten themselves removed for violating APD policies, except for maybe one or two.

Andaeron is a great guy tho, he made good points to me about he's feedback. Andaeron would have made a great corporal. +1 from me too.

Didn't take his feedback well and essentially ranted. If he learns from this then +1 from me. Good guy generally and knows his stuff

Well I have no idea what happened, but from what he told me he thought that he didn't get the promotion due to one incident (where he waited a few mins outside an illegal area for the 20 min timer to be up before going in?  In his words.)  I guess he thought that that one reason was not enough in itself to be denied the promotion.

Again, I have no idea what actually happened, but if we don't see any fishy rule bending from him I think he has potential.  That's all.

  5. Constable: Andaeron

Feedback: +1 Knew a few policies in great detail (like exactly how offroading works, exactly when to give parole, etc.)  Was aware during situations, communicated well.  Didn't play with him enough to say if he's really outstanding "up and coming SGT" material, but he seemed quite competent all around.  (I think he'll be applying to P3 this month?)

  6. Regarding Lion/George, he did apply for Corp on P3 this round and we will be discussing him this sunday.  If any of you have any urgent info to share, let P3 know.  We will take your comments here into account.

    Constable: Miles

Feedback: +1.  Haven't seen too much of him but I really like his attitude.  I was UC civ, he was the only cop to respond to my 911 messages (even though the cops couldnt help because they were busy) but I appreciate that care and attention to detail.  Seems like he's got good intentions, was respectful during my briefings, got a good head on his shoulders.  Keep an eye on him.

    Constable:  Zaephar

Feedback: -1.  No more than 30 mins spent with this guy in game, but seems to fool around a little in general.  Was making vaguely sexual/flirty comments towards me even after I tried to deflect.  Some people have flirty attitudes and I don't really mind that, but it got to the point that I wasn't sure he respected my rank.  (But don't blow it out of proportion, his comments were FAR from deserving admin report.  If it happens again I WILL speak with him.)  In general, just not too professional.

  7. For giving positive or negative feedback on those applying for Corporal.

Since Corporal promos are precinct-based, this thread will primarily be for giving feedback on Constables that either aren't on your precinct or play on multiple precincts (and may not be applying to your precinct.)  Also useful for making notes on potential bad, scummy or robo cops that we should keep our eyes on.

Reminder:  Keep all feedback in this thread confidential.  It is okay to give a Constable feedback that you read here, but you should never say which specific higher up gave the feedback.

I have seen many constables and Cpls do this but do not see an exact answer in the guidebook. Are you allowed to call bounties and ask them to turn themselves in for parole? Even if they are above 28k?

This is perfectly acceptable.  You can ask any criminal to turn themselves in.  It's a very "in RP" thing to do.

Remember that anyone who is non-aggressive and non-evasive (and has not already been offered a ticket and is not currently on parole) is eligible to be put on parole, even if their bounty is greater than $28,000.  Since turning yourself in peacefully falls into that category, you could give them parole in that instance.  (Guidebook 4.3 covers this in more detail.)

Do we get probable cause if someone with doctor suit holds a pistol?

By "doctor suit" do you mean a medic uniform?  Medics are not allowed to carry weapons.  The server actually just won't let them have weapons.  So if you see someone in a medic uniform with a weapon, you know that they are actually not a medic.

In this case you can order them to drop the clothing or you will charge them with "Possession of medic equipment," for $2500.  In this case use the "Possession of police equipment" charge as a stand-in.

EDIT:  Gnashes just recently changed it so that "Seize all illegal items" should take the medic uniform off of anyone who is not a medic.  I can't say when this fix will be pushed, but hopefully Soon™.

Shooting out the tail rotor is honestly beyond useless for any semi-competent pilot.

Don't waste your time with the tail rotor.

Anyone who has fingers and a brain can fly without it unless you require autohover.

I know, I know, chill out guys.  :)  Note that I never said anyone should shoot out the tail rotor, I just wanted to know if it was old or outdated information.  Using information from old Arma patches is soooo embarrassing.

i got a question. do you charge someone with cannibalism if you find someone with organs on them. the guidebook ticketing guide says yes but that doesn't sound right cause 1. you get auto charged for eating the organs 2. its not cannibalism if you don't eat it. its just possession of the organs.

When you butcher a human in-game, you get auto-charged with "Organ Theft", not "Cannibalism", so yes you still would charge them with "Cannibalism."

I can see your confusion.  If we catch someone with human organs it doesn't necessarily mean that they ate any of them, but this was a Captain decision when the mechanic came out.  Cannibals would be the only ones who would actively go out of their way to harvest human organs, so maybe if you keep that in mind it will be easier for you to remember.  I'm not sure this issue is big enough to request the developers to rename the charge, however.

So once ~1050 meth are on the market, the price of meth will continue to go down until it hits 1500 units - where you will get the base price for that item.

So if there's 1499 meth on the market the price will be even lower than $725 (I'll guess $500 for arguments sake.)  I sell one meth for $500 so now the market is at 1500 and you're saying the next meth I sell will pay me the base price, $925?

Did you mean "lowest possible price" instead of "base price" in the line I quoted?

I understand undercover can go to red zones solo but are they able to make a bust solo? Since there is no more buddy system but u must have 2+ officers to patrol a red zone. I seen a undercover cop go to meth lab and make a bust on a guy that was solo. Doesn't he need a fellow officer to make the bust instead of just downing?

2# a undercover goes in a red zone, I see a car coming I jump in my truck and start driving away and he lights my truck up and then chases me finally downs me but NEVER siren so I never knew he was a cop. He then adds evading arrest to me?

In the Guidebook, check out the "Corporal+ Slots" tab.  Here in the Undercover section you will see the following:

    • B 1) [While Undercover] you do not have to announce yourself in an illegal area.
    • B 2) [While Undercover] you do not need a battle buddy to check illegal areas.

I suppose I'm not sure I understand your distinction between going to Meth Lab then downing a civilian there and a "Meth bust".  Yes, UC officers can go to illegal areas without a battle buddy and may apprehend and arrest any criminals they find there.  They do not need to call in a battle buddy to help apprehend, search, seize or arrest criminals they find there.

However in the 2nd scenario that you listed, yes, "Evading Arrest" would be an incorrect charge to add since you were not informed that the officer intended to make an arrest (therefore you never consciously evaded arrest.)  Perhaps that cop thought they sirened when they didn't, maybe the server was buggy and you couldn't hear the sirens. Adding "Evading Arrest" out of pure habit can be an easy mistake to make, so I hope the cop didn't do it maliciously but simply made a mistake.

  13. I think everyone gets too caught up in the idea of a "drug" officer slot being focused on drug busts, simply because that's what the slot is called.  But really it could be a slot for anything.

How about a "repo" slot.  With the loss of lockpicking notifications in sidechat, a repo officer could see these notifications, see a red ring on the map specifying the robbery location and get a description of the stolen vehicle (with the right talents of course.)  Perhaps they could also get the name and location of suspects when they rob a civilian.

Or maybe the slot could use the Asylum market prices to generally let the cop know which il/legal activities the civs on the server are doing.  Or give us an idea of how many transactions are being made a rebel outposts per min so we get an idea of what the rebel activity is like.

These aren't the best suggestions ever, I know, but remember that you can always think outside the box.
