    Definitely agree. When you're being an awesome sport and a Captain decides you should keep your illegal hunting rifle because it's one that your great grandfather passed down to you, which also has your family's name etched into it, they should be blacklisted for corruption. That shouldn't be allowed.
    When you're being an incessant little bitch to the cops for hours at a time for the sake of just being an incessant little bitch (not even to role play), they shouldn't have the ability to throw your ass in jail.

    That's the goal. If you see any form of lack of role play or robocopping, please do report it. It really does help. Word of mouth isn't going to help.

    What is role play?
    Role-playing is the changing of one's behaviour to assume a role, either unconsciously to fill a social role, or consciously to act out an adopted role.
    So what's your point?
    Over time, the role play quality of on-duty officers has gone down.
    The APD
    The APD is the backbone of role play on Asylum's Altis Life. All officers on duty (and preferably off duty) are expected to uphold a higher level of quality in how they act while playing on Asylum. The blufor faction (Cop, APD) is whitelisted, which means it is a privilege and not a right to be able to play on it.
    Somewhere down the line, role play made its way to the back seat and became more about making money and shooting guns. While that's all good and fun, role play while on duty needs to be at the forefront at all times.
    The APD is not a gang. Good aim and combat awareness is definitely a plus, but is never required and is never put above your ability to talk to people.
    The issues
    There are lots of issues that have crept up over time, including but not limited to:
    Full, or near full tickets for well thought out role play (explaining charges, etc) Poor treatment of civilians who put effort into their character Shooting before talking (APD hands up... bang bang bang) Bleeping sirens to initiate and shoot as soon as possible While technically these aren't necessarily against any APD policy (barring severe circumstances), they are definitely frowned upon.
    The solution(s)
    There's no easy solution.
    To start off, and effective immediately, any lack of role play or failure to role play will be dealt with harshly by our APD staff. This will require everyone's help to report this behaviour. We need video evidence. We cannot act based off of word of mouth.
    If you are unable to talk to people respectfully with no bias, the APD is not for you. This goes for all ranks.
    Civilian role play
    Asylum is a light role play server. Civilians are not required to role play, but when civilians do role play, or put effort into it, they should be rewarded. If role play is rewarded, they will be more likely to put more effort into it again in the future.
    If the cops do not role play, there is a chain reaction that happens.
    Civilian gets into a situation with an APD officer Civilian attempts to role play APD officer is a generic brick wall (issues full, or close to full ticket, or is almost like a robot) Civilian sees that the effort he/she put in didn't pay off Civilian sees no point in role playing in the future Next APD officer interaction, the civilian isn't role playing because role playing doesn't pay off Even if a civilian is not role playing, there is no excuse in not trying to get something out of the civilian.

    Played Asylum for a bit around a year ago, finally upgraded my hardware so I can run at a playable frame-rate. Already met a few cool people on here, just decided to open a forum account to say hello and maybe get more involved in the future. If you see me roaming around Kavala come say hi. Still pretty much a noob compared to most people, but the community involvement makes it pretty entertaining.

    We're currently working around the clock on it basically. We'll see where we're at tomorrow. We wipe a few things off the list and several more pop up. Nearly all server code has been re-written for current stuff in. Also, a lot has changed clientside code wise to improve readability, functionality, and making stuff more scale-able.
    However, we are in my opinion about 24hrs - 36hrs behind where I expected to be. Not necessarily that many development hours, just a day and a half behind schedule. Which is pretty good considering I gave the week almost a month ago. It does look like we may need to push it to release next mid-week (Which if we do that, we'll release with the contact stuff and such at the same time). However, we could do it Saturday. Really depends how our testing continues and what we realize we're forgetting and what is missing as we go. I also work Sat-Mon, so I'd really rather not release it then leave for work in the event issues crop up while I'm working, I wouldn't be able to do anything.

    You can see below we literally have timestamps at all times of day... 3AM, 4AM, 12PM, 1PM, etc...

    The "majority of the server" isn't on the forums. The majority of the server plays the game and what happens, happens. The ones who have issues are naturally going to be the loudest, creating the illusion of a majority. Those who are happy or content rarely state that they are so. They have nothing they to complain about.
    That being said, points can be made for both sides and there needs to be a balance. I said this in Discord, but aside from the $10,000 Prison Conspiring charge that you get for initiating a prison break, there is no other consequence. There's no gold bars, no money. You're breaking people out of prison, so there needs to be an increased risk (consequence) for doing so.
    Now, onto my personal opinion here:
    If you want to fight cops, go find them and fight them. The prison break these days are used to funnel cops into one area as a shooting gallery. Rarely do I even see anyone in the actual prison waiting to be broken out.

    If you want roleplay, create roleplay.  Don't get mad in a combat scenario when the EXACT opposite happens when it should.

    Gas masks from the Contact DLC. I'm quitting if they don't get added for Civs/undercovers at the least. If officers in general got them that'd be dope too. (They're purely cosmetic in base Arma 3.)

    Agreed. Thinking something along the lines of allowing the sending of suspects straight to jail if they meet the following criteria:
    • Seen assisting in a recent active prison break
    • Must be brought back to HQ to send to jail
    • Suspect must be searched, charged, have their illegal items be seized, have their charges read to them, and be told why they are being sent straight to jail, before actually being sent to jail
    Just an idea, and certainly not something I'd like to mess with personally until V2.

    Below are some of my ideas for new jobs, ways to implement and balance them, and a few buffs to existing jobs. These of course are subject to change. 
    - Metal Detecting
    Uses existing coins, jewels, treasure, existing gathering mechanics, shovels, and maybe mine detectors or other items as the metal detector. Uses within city limits for low yield, beaches for medium yield, and castles/ruins for high yield. There is also the approach of using tones like from a metal detector to locate better spots. I think 5k per 10 mins for low yield, 7.5k per 10 mins for medium yield, 15k per 10 mins for high yield, and 1.5k for the metal detector would be balanced and not strictly better than anything. Also a few other ideas related to this. 
    Buff fishing to sometimes yield turtles and treasure  Buff turtles to roughly 2k per this would put it on par with cocaine where it should be for an illegal activity as currently it earns about 30k per 30 minutes which is as much as selling phosphorus while being illegal - Stock Market
    Uses an app in your phone that is linked to a real website like the old weather app that has stocks listed with the names of the stocks changed in game. Or create your own system. I do think it would be interesting if people had to learn about the real stock market to profit from the app however. This might need limiting mechanics.   
    - Indoor Marijuana Growing
    Uses existing scotch aging mechanics. Reaches maturity in one restart. Add seeds to drug dealer. A full container of whatever it is grown in is worth 10k.

    APD Constable Aslan was extremely helpful. He took me under his wing and taught me how to properly be an officer. I really appreciate his efforts and think he should be accommodated for his actions.

    What are some things or features to something that you feel are just pointless or really make you go why is this in the game? Looking to bring some of the stuff you guys feel are pointless, etc to the staff meetings to find out if we can remake them to be pointful or adjust to be better and more popular.

    Please keep this thread clean... We're trying to improve the game/community.. not get mod queued or fight each other.

    Briefings. Deploy strict orders to officers (redeployment orders, give tasks, etc). Drones. MX 3GL. Hunters. Can authorize lethal ammunition. Ride alongs (VERY important). I think Sergeants are a good step up from Corporals to differentiate their rank.
    By the way, verbal warnings aren't to be fucked with. If you get a verbal warning, that's a red flag on your application that says "Bend me over and fuck me if I do something wrong again" to the Lieutenants who issue points. Sergeants are important for that kind of thing. People may find verbal warnings to be a joke, and that's totally fine, but don't come crying to us when you don't get your promotion, possibly due to it.
     
    I know you're probably joking, but Sergeants are not getting 7.62 rifles.
     
    This is my own personal opinion and does not reflect the opinion of anyone but myself: if it were up to me I would completely remove 7.62 rifles off the server.

    Evening all,
    I wanted to give a slight update to the new mission related stuff. I unfortunately got hit with having to work 3 weeks of 66hrs /ea week at work (Starting this week). This has pushed back my estimated done date pretty hard. I took off two days of work (Jul 14/15) to make a longer week and prevent being forced to do overtime that week. 

    The "Official Release Week" will be the week of July 14 - 20. The date is not set in stone yet. However, that will 99% for sure be the week we release on. This will allow us to get in 2 more staff meetings before releasing and also to finish up related projects required to release such as our new web based admin/moderator controls. As far as progress goes on the mission I'm happy where we're at and confident we can reach the goal set. As long as my house doesn't burn down or something in the meantime. I just want to be sure we have a good release and that we have enough time to do the things we want to get done.
