But I feel like bug bounty's would be great because people would RACE to report a bug.

    Hello all,
I would like to drop a reminder to everyone. If you find a exploit in game and use it..You will be held accountable. It would be best to report these exploits in the proper section. You will be held accountable for your actions.

    Thank you,
    Asylum Staff

Reporting players is something that has always been controversial because we have two types of players.
    1. If they get RDM'ed or VDM'ed they want to see the person permed and never to play again.
    2. Players that were wronged and just want to see some sort of justice and are fine with any type of punishment.

    (My opinion)
To my understanding ,the stance we take is a reformative one. We want players to continue to play and enjoy Asylum and we understand people make some mistakes. This is why we introduced shorter bans. We understand that some sort of justice must be met, however, we want to make a punishment that is fair to both sides. If someone accidentally RDM's someone or VDM's and does not comp because they feel they were in the right, that is much different than someone blatantly mass RDMing or VDMing. Each report is taken on a case by case basis. If you do find yourself banned, come in the TS to speak with the banning admin. So far, I have been support staff for roughly a month now and in every case I have seen, if you come in with a calm attitude and take responsibility for what you did, then your ban will most likely be reduced. The reason we reduce these bans is because players admit to their own mistake and we can move forward and hope they learn from it. We do keep track and realize if someone is abusing that. I can tell you from being here for almost 4 years that the old banning system does not work either. We eventually get too many people being permed for RDM and VDM and then we find ourselves in the same situation as when Clint and Bada took over. We have to mass unban to fill the servers. We do not want to have to Perm for RDM or VDM, but again its on a case by case basis. Hope this helps!

Welcome back, I too am an old player who recently returned.
Way back in the days of doing a ride along with Durga, Del the Cop Killer RPing hard af, Brotherhood (Regiment, Tempest), Innovative, FSA in their prime, gangs were rivals but still respected each other, Lirik causing the servers to be flooded on free weekends, setting up "enter" macros to join a server because all four were full constantly, Cartels were broken down to each drug + Arms.

I recently got an i9 9900k haven't got to use it yet but others from Asylum say it is a huge difference from previous chips. Even the i7 9700k would be a huge upgrade for most people. But like was previously stated make sure your Motherboard can support a new chip. The i7 and i9 9000 series are all LGA-1151 sockets so if you are upgrading from a 6000 series or newer you "should" be fine just make sure to do your research before you have to buy a new mobo as well as a $400 CPU.

I have been playing Arma since back in the day when the Dayz mod was first released for Arma 2. Arma 2 ran perfect for me on my previous setup. (DayZ SA ran fine as well)

In Arma 3 I always had an issue with sudden lag (which previously I attributed to wireless lag) and I would just start clipping all over the place (sometimes crashing outright). Never had any sort of issue with any other game, Skyrim ran beautifully while heavily modded for example. Ran all over games on Ultra with no isses.

I did some testing and could see when Arma 3 would crash on me my CPU usage jumped to 100%, so decided to go ahead and upgrade.
And let me tell you.. The comparison is unreal. Feel like im playing a different game now. Previous it rendered really well, no issues with graphics (makes sense with the card) but now this game run so smooth.
I 100% suggest giving the i7 8700k a try. Its expensive but will be a processor that is relevant for at leas the next 5 years or more.
Research also points to Intel running Arma a bit better (Arma also is a CPU intensive game). Keep in mind, you want the CPU processor to be the same manufacturer as the platform your GPU is built on. Meaning if you have a Nvidia card, get an intel processor. If you have AMD, go with AMD cards; this can cause issues utilizing the full potential of your GPU.

    Nah.
New owners though, you never know what could happen.
I'm sure the development team is waaaaaaaay more focused on performance at the moment though.

    Hey everyone,

I know I haven't communicated a whole lot lately regarding development matters and such. I just want to say that we are actively searching for issues with the mission that could be causing issues with the server performance. However, due to us switching hosts I have been a bit busy getting things prepared and helping with getting things setup for our migration that had occurred. Just want you guys to know that we are doing our best to find issues and resolve them daily. If you have any questions feel free to always shoot me a pm or just ask. I'll answer eventually.

As for changes to the servers the following is going on and we could use your help packing Servers 1 & 2 (Ideally Server 2 first).
Server 1 & 3 - Currently have the same mission file, testing a few small changes. Server 1 has 100 slots though that we would like to fill to stress test.
Server 2 - Currently has a unique mission that is different from 1 & 3. This one has the small changes of 1 & 3 plus another change. This server also has 100 slots that we would like to fill to stress test.
I know it's free weekend and that means shitters flooding the server... So it's understandable if you guys don't want to pop on. I don't blame you, I'd probably venture outside or find something else to be honest. However, if you have a group of people or just some time to waste we would appreciate you hopping on the servers for a bit. This update will likely stay until we do another hotfix or patch. So if you wanna try helping fill next week that's perfectly fine!
We've updated CABS a tad to hopefully catch some more cheaters, however unlikely we'll be able to get all them before they do damage. Over the next few weeks we'll also be working on various security enhancements as well, some things were put on the back burners due to migration and issues with various aspects as we transferred over that took longer than normal.
    Any questions? Ask away.

    Thanks,
    Asylum Development Team
  18. Disco Biscuits liked a post in a topic by Jesse in Could we get an update plx?
    ^ What he said.

    Also...
It's also just as bad for us... Everytime a server "Goes down" we (Badabing, Clintasaurus, or myself) have to manually remote desktop in to the server and kill the process because it's decided to eat all the RAM.

That means we take time out of our day probably AT LEAST 3x to restart the server. We also have to drop what we're doing... sitting with family, playing a game, driving, etc. I've had to pull over on the shoulder several times to remote in. I've done it during breaks at work or while working. So have the others. We HATE it just as much. It affects us just as much, if not more depending on how you look at it. There is no magical switch to fix it all. I actively work on fixing stuff or adjusting things daily. Just today, I put a server side update on S2 to try and help determine the issue. However, doesn't seem to be anything coming of it...

As a player who has played several hours on the servers and other A3 servers. I know just how frustrating it can be to make compensation requests and lose things due to stuff out of my control such as server issues... It sucks. I am really trying to fix it though... Almost all my time here is dedicated to it.

    Good evening everyone,

Tonight we take a very big step in cleaning up and starting fresh.

We have migrated all of our servers over to OVH
If you have trouble finding them, they are here.
    Server 1: 149.56.29.23
    Server 2: 149.56.29.183
    Server 3: 149.56.243.163
We thank you for your continued support and your commitment to myself, @BaDaBiNg_10-8 and the rest of the team.

Our previous hosting company was very gracious and helpful, but, we felt it was time to make our own way and move on.  We felt this move was the best way to secure ourselves in the future.  From here, you probably have notice the forums have been updated and some of you had to use two factor authentication, just another way we are striving to secure things.

We have purchased a ticketing system as well to help organize our administration team (player reports, compensation reports, appeals) and our APD staff.  No more crazy google docs...
