Its the way the script is written.  Cant do much about it man.

    ^ What HotWings said.

The script takes all guns, mags, scopes, grenades, firearms license, drugs, police gear, contraband (like speed bombs, diamond tip drills, lockpicks) and sometimes your sunglasses weirdly enough.

Technically if you did not use the gun to commit any crimes (and you have the proper licensing for it) the officer should not seize it.  If they do seize it because they choose to not let you drop the lockpicks on the ground, then they should compensate you for the items that were improperly seized.

@KevinOB Agreed, I would love an option to seize just a subset of items.  We don't even need to have more scrollwheel options, just add one scrollwheel option that opens up a menu where you can seize items, sort of like the apply charge menu.

you mean animation or in the sidechat thing  where X person lockpicking x car?

    if side-chat +1.

It'd be cool if we could see "Person A was seen lockpicking a vehicle" in sidechat only if they drive through a speeding camera.

A vast majority of those notifications in side chat I don't do a thing about but it's useful when a new player has their car stolen.  It would be kind of similar to fugitive pings and might be a nice middle ground.

    • Drones may only be purchased by talented APD Corporals and higher now.

Drones haven't been available to the Corporal rank for well over a year.  Are you saying that this is about to be changed or did you mean to put "Sergeant" instead of "Corporal"?

Is there any policy towards taking civs along on patrol?  I'm not talking about raiding illegal zones with them or anything like that, but I have met some nice people who were thinking about becoming cops and have actually taken them in my car for a bit telling them about the APD and how to apply and all of that.  Is that sort of thing allowed?  If not, I'll cease right away.

I always tell them that I'm happy to answer all of their questions regarding the APD, but if they actually want to ride along with us in a cop vehicle... well... isn't that precisely what Cadet week is for?  ; )

  5. I've said it before and I said it again, if you're surprised that cops return to the scene for a 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 15th time, then you don't understand how engagements work, because escaping and getting out of the fed/bank/prison/firefight is an essential part of the win condition.  If you're still in the same spot when the cops return for the 8th time, you should have gotten the hell out of dodge a long time ago.  (And if they were taking that long to lethal you, sounds like they made a real honest attempt to catch you.)

You can't just start a prison break, kill one wave of cops and expect to "win".  (If that was the intended design, Paratus would have enforced a new life ruling a long time ago.)  You gotta get out of the prison and get out alive to win.

I don't mind the reduced payout from lethals, but that never affected my decision to go lethal in the past so it will continue to not affect me.  Maybe the money hungry rebels who play cop once a month will think twice before going lethal, and if that's the intended purpose of the change then yes I hope it does exactly that.

But can we take the uniform though? If they dont drop it and get charged, then what? They spend the entire time getting charged every time an APD Officer sees them.

If you order them to drop the gear and they do not, then this will fall under "Disobeying an order from an officer."

The progression for this charge is VW then $100 then Straight to jail.  So if they disobey your orders to drop the uniform, warn them that continued failure to do so will result in them being sent them straight to jail without a ticket.

    1. I didnt want to confuse them early since as a cadet you cant buy lethal mags (I did make a point about spar 16)

    2. I think i will add today something like ending part where i will talk about support channels. (this was a great point i forgot about it)

    3. it says that SGT's can do mock in the end of my guide but 90% of the time they will do it with constable or corporal so I think that is ok.

There actually is a bug right now where cadets not only spawn with lethals, but are able to buy them (for the SPAR-16 I believe) from the cop store.  Since it's a pretty bad offense to possess or use lethals as cadet (6+ points which means removal and they can't reapply for 4 months) it might be safe to really drive that point home.

I know too many cops that didn't know that we have an Internal Affairs section or that the IA offenses are listed below the ticketting guide. :D

  8. Nice work!  I like that it's thorough on equipment, talents and civ relationships.

I didn't read it super closely (I can when I get more time later) however the things that stand out mainly are that I would definitely add the whole tracer green = downing and tracer yellow = lethal.  You could also mention that they can ask questions or bring issues to the SGT+ they see in the Police Support TS channels.  Also all SGT's are mock RA certified you could add.

This is the doc I give cadets when they pass my interview if you're interested: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YfHdmYqGaYGBQQEXv4LY4-3Jy9eLvIMBd7X6E-AFPeI/edit?usp=sharing

@Durga When a bounty hunter steals a fugitive from the hands of the APD we were allowed to charge the bounty hunter with the crimes that the fugitive had if he were actually to be arrested by the bounty hunter.

I believe this rule was made when you were able to send people to jail as a bounty hunter at headquarters.

The rule was written on a post on the old forums, but does this still apply since bounty hunters can't easily send someone to jail anymore?

    Did nobody answer this question?

Well the ruling is that if a BH steals a fugitive that is in police custody, you can charge them with Kidnapping and Abuse of BH license.  (Keep in mind they will get Aiding Escape from Custody if they escort a suspect in cop restraints.)

There used to be an old policy that said you could add the stolen suspect's charges onto the BH to compensate for the money the BH stole from the cops.  However since BH's now turn their suspects in at the courthouse these days, suspect stealing happens a LOT less than it used to.  So I don't see the necessity of maintaining that policy, unless a Captain says otherwise of course.

Even with this being said, it has a major impact on the rest of the island. I've been on both the rebel and the cop side.

respawning back to kavala after a 2 hour PB (which takes 10 minutes) only to have 40 pistol bangers with all 100k bounties is so much worse than a rebel with a 10k because he was lethal'd 3 times over.

I just see it as a waste of time after an hour long fight to continuing to respond, unless the rebels have stolen like 3 hunters and kidnapped some cops or something.

Mayhem hit the nail on head regarding this one.  There is no new life rule on these engagements so cops can return as often as they like unless a higher up on scene orders otherwise.

However I will add that cops respawning and returning to fights is implemented to simulate a larger police force than we actually have.

Yes, I know the frustration from being on the other side and feeling like you've won but the cops just keep coming back.  However I think what most rebels fail to understand in this situation is the fact that wiping a wave of cops does not mean you've won the fed/bank/prison.  Getting out safely is a "win" condition for the rebels here.  It's easy to snipe cops from the bank roof, but you need to get the money in your heli and fly away safely to truly "win".  Likewise you can't win a fed or prison unless you escape in one piece, sometimes while under fire.

With the new RPGs in Tanoa, do we charge people with Illegal Firearm or Terrorism since it is on par with vests?

RPG by itself = Possession of Illegal Firearm

RPG with heat grenades = Explosive Terrorism (yes this is now a charge you can add in game!)

This is covered in the Ticketing Guide under B-13.

this involves an issue i had the other day involving a bounty hunter. i observed this individual abusing his weapon on a civ that wasn't wanted. i charged him accordingly (since he restrained this person i gave him kidnapping, discharge and evading since he ran from me with the person. I seized his weapon and his license. gave him his ticket. he paid it. 5 minutes later he has a gun again, downing someone else and then downed me. i repeated the charges against him minus evading and kidnapping. took his license and weapon. ticket him. he paid it. then he got a gun again and downed me again, and restrained me. i convinced him to unrestrain me. gave him a half ticket because he complied.

my question is: how many times can one abuse before i can just send him to jail? Am I allowed to send him to jail if they continue beside giving them disobeying?

According to the Ticketing Guide, 3rd count of disobeying an officer is straight to jail (and so is 3rd count of Discharge Within a City and 3rd count of Attempted Manslaughter which seem to apply in your situation)

Remember that you must have first given the person a VW then they must disobey again to get the $100 Disobeying charge.  If they disobey YET AGAIN after that $100 charge then you may send them straight to jail.

I spent the last hour screaming hello? HELP? I first get run over by two people who then try to shoot me, I figure out how to suicide and req medic, later, I get killed again and requested medics. two medics came in a heli. I was trying to speak to them and I pressed a button and got in their helicopter. I was trying to get out and I wasnt trying to be a dick. I couldnt figure out how to get out so I just logged off, I dont know if I can get banned but I dont want to and I couldnt speak or figure out how to get out of the heli. If someone can help that would be awesome. also, I cant change my controlls to WASD?

WASD should be default so I'm not sure, check your Configure controls menu?  Lots of actions are doing in game via scrollwheel (such as getting in/out of vehicles).  However if the vehicle is locked and the people with keys don't unlock it, you will be stuck in the vehicle.

Just make sure that you're talking in the correct voice channel (Direct for talking in person, vehicle chat for vehicles, switch with comma and period) and be sure to bind custom action 10 to turn down the sound of vehicles when a car/heli is really loud.

Also damn, Olio AND Paratus in one Introduction thread?  Man, now all newcomers will expect such careful attention haha

Also I don't think you can get pokemon into the game without requiring the 3D models and animations to be downloaded client side, making Asylum a true Arma 3 mod. :P  Unless they used the Vanilla NPC models and just gave them the names of the Pokemon, hahaha that'd be pretty funny.

  14. Wouldn't it be easier to just implement regular Pokemon?  By that I mean, rather than a phone app where you have to look through the camera, just put the Pokemon straight into Altis?  If I had to pick I'd prefer the former, but in a development sense it might be easier.

But as much as I love Pokemon and Pokemon Go, I just don't think it would really add anything to Altis.  It'd be buggy, I already have enough grinding to do in normal Pokemon Go and I just don't feel like it would fit in with the other elements that make Asylum special.
