As a robocop wouldnโ€™t I want you to get out of jail asap so I can send you again? I just offered an alternative, because truthfully I donโ€™t care one way or the either.ย

Kind of a tricky one, idk what the correct answer is so I'm interested in the things said here.ย

Increasing from a 30min max is going to be a hard no. We want people out playing the game/interacting. Going and playing a different game for 45mins while a pointless timer ticks down doesn't help us much.

Changing the plate pressing back to reducing price is going to be a no, it was a highly requested change and i think is still widely popular.

However that being said, too short of a timer and you end up with some of the symptoms we have now.
1.) Lack of roleplay, why would you try to roleplay with a cop when arrested. Waste 10mins of my life telling a story just to be given a ticket when I can ask to be sent straight to jail and spend 7min 40seconds pressing plates and going free.ย
2.) Menace to society. While i don't "like" it i understand the logic. If cops wipe your gang and get the big bounty they should be rewarded for it financially. Instead of the big bounty reading the bee movie script and stalling long enough for his group mate to press plates, grab a vest and use it.ย
3.) Prison break fatigue, its pretty silly you do a 10min prison break instead of just pressing plates. I can understand why officers are tired of pushing the double deer stands when realistically they are better off not showing up and then later when they catch any escapee's they get to be sent straight to jail. And if they run into the group actually doing the break hopefully its on better terms than pushing a fortified position.ย

Same can be said if the jail times are long.ย  When they were 45 minutes, it sucked when you tried RPing with a cop for 15 - 30 minutes and didn't get a pardon.ย  I remember always thinking that it would've just been smarter to start my sentence than waste my time explaining my charges.ย  With the current system, it's optional and doesn't feel nearly as bad if your time got wasted.ย ย

I don't want to come off as highly anti-APD but let's be totally honest and realize that PLENTY of cops robocop, bigger the bounty the more likely it is.ย  Both sides are equally to blame about 'lack of roleplay' and I don't see how cops can sit on their high horse over RP and pretend none of them are the problem.ย  Punishing civs for playing the game the way it is basically setup just doesn't feel good on a server that advertises itself as a light RP server.

honestly, the easiest solution to this is to change pressing plates back to reducing their bounty instead of their time

Terrible idea that was changed for a reason

You still donโ€™t get it?? Players would care more and ย actively try to not get high bounties. Currently, no one gives a shit about their bounty. It kind of makes sense that a 300k bounty should be a bad thing, not a โ€œidrc itโ€™s kind of coolโ€ thing.

The vast majority of players on Asylum do not care about the consequences and NEVER have nor ever will.ย  People make it their goal to get the highest bounty possible and this happened even when jail times were very long.ย  The thinking of the people ( Mostly career cops btw ) for this idea just doesn't hold up to the reality of what civs/rebels do.ย

And again. This is a LIGHT RP server.ย  The higher ups for the APD must think this too if they are going to instantly jail 300k bountiesย

If you want to commit crimes that's cool, you should just face repercussion for it. Right now if you have a bounty over 30,000 there's no reason to pay a ticket because you can just go to jail again for a maximum of 26 -28 minutes and then press plates which would get them out in 6 without losing any money. This gives them zero reason to make money and every money making zone is either dead or filled with new players who end up getting robbed by old players most of the time anyways. If your fun is at the sake of others and ruining their experience then you should have a negative benefit as well, wether they increase the jail time to an hour or remove the time limit. If there's an issue with cops not wanting to role play due to them only seeing money then put a percentage cap on the amount of money cops get from bounties.
    ย

The only problem with all this is that nobody pays tickets to begin with unless they're low.ย  People rather wait the time out than pay off big bounties and that won't change.ย  The economy issues Asylum is dealing with is much more to do with passive income.ย  Given this is a light RP server, I think the current system is the most fitting.ย  Let's be real, the entire point of civ is to go and commit crimes ( Or be a Bounty Hunter and go for bounties...and commit crimes at opportunistic times ).ย ย

Part of the game is ruining other people's fun more or less for your own benefit.ย  All factions have this ability and use it.

  5. Totally disagree with this premise.ย  As civ the whole point is basically to go commit crimes if you want to have fun.ย  The longer jail times back in the day were just stupid and the current system is preferable.ย  Also plenty of cops will robo cop the fuck out of people no matter how good the roleplay is because they are seeing $$$$.ย  It's not a skill issue lmfao
