This is not being done to help new players, there is 0 reason to play the game when you have everything, it’s like being in creative mode.  That’s the reason why in the past admins play style changes once they get unlimited money, we are doing this to make everyone even, make everyone have the same experience that made us all fall in love in the first place.  Yes, the last patch left some things to be desired but this should’ve been done years ago, irrespective of any of that.  The server has been in dire straits since 2021, and what we were doing wasn’t working anymore.

Fundamentally the asylum experience is what we all fell in love with, it wasn’t our scotch house, or unlimited ifrits.

its disappointing to see people look at this negatively, I get it, it sucks.  But at the end of the day, we’ve got a lot of really cool stuff cooking for you guys, and I hope when we pull the trigger it can respark some of the memories we’ve all had here

    Hi all,
I have noticed a lot of uncertainty with the upcoming wipe and I would like to make a post to hopefully put those uncertainties to rest. I also intend on instilling the confidence that I have in this wipe to the rest of the community. As I have mentioned in a previous post, Asylum is at a state right now where getting on and seeing a 30 pop server is something to celebrate. Our developers have been trying furiously hard to pump content into the server that would allow player to have something to do in hopes of bringing more players onto the server. The problem is you cannot pump new content into a server where most of the active players are already at "end game." From an administrative perspective I have been able to see how players typically move on the map, and most of our playerbase do not go out and leave the spawn cities. If they do, they are typically fighting cops at federal events and then right back to sitting in Athira or log off once the cops do. For a server that is based around player vs player interaction, this is not healthy as it leaves nothing to do across the rest of the map. For this reason, a wipe would be the next best step to possibly bring back these player vs player interactions and learn from the previous mistakes that caused us to get to this point in server health.
I do understand that losing years of stats, money, and houses can be frustrating for our current playerbase, but if we sit idle and do nothing, those aforementioned items mean nothing. For those who are concerned about this, you do have to realize our player count has been maxing out at 15 players some nights. We have kept pushing out content and listening to suggestions on what to add, remove, and change but content is not the current issue. I also understand that not wanting to grind is an issue. But I assure you that this wipe will make grinding a whole different and fun experience as it did with the test wipe.
Understanding this reasoning, you should be very excited and confident for this next wipe. A couple months back Asylum had done a test wipe (mentioned above) to see what a wipe would look like. We collected a significant amount of data and took in how the community had felt about the wipe. With this data, your voices, and what we experienced, we had learned A LOT which will allow us to move forward with this wipe in the most professional and organized way possible. We also saw in the wipe that the player vs player interactions that Asylum is based around were occurring allowing for an amazing wipe experience.
As I have said in a previous post, I have never seen our staff team more dialed in and connected in terms of having the SAs/CM and the developers on the same page. We have past Asylum greats throwing their hat in the ring working with our newer staff members to ensure that this is done correctly. We have people within the server staff team and outside of the server staff team working as well to give our server a face lift and a breath of fresh air. We have already announced a solid foundation for the wipe and cannot wait to get it out.
There are also many things to look forward to after the initial wipe. This wipe allows us to continue on as a community, staff team, APD staff team, and AFD staff team, and reflect on what had happened in the past and learn from this. This server has been around for years and this wipe offers us a solid base in terms of new beginnings allowing the community to grow and push forward reflecting on and learning from previous experiences.
With this I hope to continue to hear your voices in TS and read your forums posts as the staff team works diligently to get this update/patch out. I would like to also hear and read any other concerns you guys may have after reading this that could possibly be answered. All eyes within the Arma 3 community are on us. Lets make this happen.
Thank you all for your dedication and loyalty and I hope to see you all in game.
    Best,
    Junke 🍌

On a real note though, its bad when we are now desperate for a 30 pop server. At this point in Asylum's life we are going to need drastic changes. Looking back on the test wipe and then looking back now you are right, Asylum has changed and has gone away from its roots. The purpose of this wipe is to go back to that. An example, when I looked on the map during the test wipe I would see players interacting all across the map. There were players in each corner doing something whether it be farming, fighting, etc. Now when I look across the map, I see a cluster of cops and civs in Athira with a few stragglers at cartels or setting up for a bank/prison. You can blame it on whoever, the matter of the fact is that there is just currently no gameplay because most of the server base is already established and all sit in one place of the map. I agree with you that there was one update that slowly led to cause us to be in this spot. But we can't go back now and its better to try to wipe and see if we can get core Asylum back rather than just trying to shove content into a 15 pop server.

Not until a week ago, I have never seen a group of SA/CMs and devs work on something so closely together and be on the same page. I am excited to see what comes out of this in hopes of seeing Asylum alive once again.

Personally the wipe looks fun to me. I believe there will be an initial spike in activity from the players who gather money to buy good houses. Since these are normally unobtainable or expensive but now available for a low price. During this time you will run into more players, fight over areas, gangs might fight over drug cartel because most of the server will be probably farming drugs.
I think it's a chance for improval on the player activity, but only if people are willing to try. Seeing the reactions from most people voicing their opinion it already looks like their mind has been made up. I wouldn't be suprised it will quickly turn into the low activity we have right now or eventually close the server.
@HunterB Is it possible to post a date/time of when this wipe is happening? At least whenever possible announce it in advance so people can plan for it.

people play oly now because its easier to make money. The difference between there and asylum is the community. Too many things have been added over the last 2 years to even make it feasable to know what to do in the server. Great example; We have all played other servers when asylum was popping to see the difference, every server had too much shit going on on the map, too many crazy features, too many safe zones, too many rules, nlr, the whole 9 yards and immediately left, Want a increase in player base? literally just wipe the last few years of updates all the way back to when the casino was added. Make it actually worth it to play the server. nobody wants to log on when a cartel is in the middle of the ocean, nobody wants to log on when you cant do an event because someone just did one, nobody wants to log on when theres 20 cops on and 30 civs on, new people dont want to log on when they click athira and get mowed down by an mk200 after 2 hours of picking apples even im guilty of it. the point is nobody wants to log on due to all the garbage thats been added, in what the dev team may consider something added to give players more to do.

I remember when the cartels were in the same 5 places. everyone loved that, now you log on and theres a million different spawn locations. Take this as healthy criticism, we dont need a wipe, yes its gonna hurt hitting the roll back button on all the late nights spent adding all these irrelevent features, but at the end of the day. We all miss how it was, that is what drew new players in, not making rolexes with ingredients in the middle of bumblefuck.

    EDIT*****
Additionally the only people crying about a wipe is the people that have all the good houses, but for those people tight about that ask yourself this, how did it feel grinding for those houses? How satisfying was it when you finally had the keys in your Y? You can grind that again, or straight out buy them as quick as possible, the choice is yours!

Leave Meth, Weed, Uranium, Coke, Heroin, Moonshine get rid of the rest of the filler garbage thats been added through the years
    Leave all legal activities
Get rid of all the nonsense cartel spawns thats been added
Go back to the OG Cartel spots
    OG Cop spawns
All the BS thats been added through the years can go.
Unban everyone thats not game banned, see where it lands us, they can always be RE-Banned

Make it a grind again, dont make it so easy for new players because nobody liked easy when they started, sure we wanted it to be easier but not what it is now, theres no drive to keep playing when your invincible when you start fresh.

This needs to be executed correctly, launch of the server needs to be done at a time where EU and NA can grind, unban ALOT of people, daily rewards to keep people coming back, cop to civ ratio needs to be looked into because every field will be camped by cops... it will be fun to have that excitement of driving a box truck full of coke with the chance of being robbed and actually giving a shit about money.
currently we just log on, buy whatever without a care in the world because we've been playing for so long it doesn't mean anything and maybe the wipe won't change that but currently its at 10 people peak time.
Maybe its not the right move but I think its better than nothing, please back up the server, monitor the retention of players, this is make or break...

    Suggestions by me & aslan
    Monetary Cap:
Establish a cap at a specified amount, with server price adjustments based on this amount. Gang Bank Cap:
Set a cap at a specified amount, which will increase proportionally with the number of members, up to a maximum of X amount. Group Cap:
Limited to 8-10 members. (start with 8 and adjust if population starts increasing) House Cap:
Players are permitted a maximum of 2 houses each, including garages. Economic Balance:
There are currently excessive opportunities to generate income through various runs. Drug Policy:
Retain: Marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, spirit, uranium and the purification factory. Allow processing of every drug once more at the purification facility, rotating the factory across all drugs. Remove: Fungi, LSD, PCP, and tobacco. Territory Management: Turf areas may require significant improvement (maybe bring back the cheaper loadouts from owning 2 of these) Boat Rebel Location:
The location should be stationary outside the prison; other locations should be removed or at least the Sofia location should be reconsidered. Federal Events:
Remove the excess events such as mental, APD National, and Nicolais. Implement a 30-minute cooldown period for the remaining events, but only 10-minute cooldown for gas marts. Cartels:
Retain key locations such as OG, East Arms (with necessary adjustments), Church, Drug Tower, and Drug House. Remove other locations and relocate oil cartel to a more accessible area for crafters. Maintain three cartels with five rotating locations, excluding the oil cartel. Prestige and Weapons:
Eliminate the prestige system and all overpowered weapons and attachments. Restrict Zafir, MAR-10, and silencers to Blackwater only with very limited availability and a small chance of spawning in an airdrop. Rebel Outpost:
Maybe consider adding restocking guns, more clothing options, and potentially setting a donation goal for armor stacking. Introduce an invisible backpack. Stash Houses:
Remove the new stash houses and retain the old ones that can be robbed. Drug Dealers:
Keep drug dealers in towns to maintain the associated risk. Law Enforcement:

Update rules regarding Ifrit usage. Address the issue of having an excessive number of higher-ranking officers. Consider implementing a parole system. Introduce a limit on the ratio of civilians to police officers. Review policies on lethal payouts. Establish new rules for the deployment of police drones. Remove the armed boat or replace it with a version without a covered gunner position, if such a version exists. Prohibit police officers from deploying spike strips from moving vehicles.
    Explanation:

I feel like money is the primary issue on this server. The introduction of domination has significantly inflated the economy, making most players extremely wealthy. While there have always been individuals with substantial wealth, it's never been at this level before. This situation leads to careless gameplay and leaves players with little to do other than spoil the fun for others, especially newcomers.
Even when the server had 100 players online, it's a struggle to find people anywhere outside of Athira. I believe to inject more vitality into the server, players need to engage in activities such as runs, player robbery, federal event heists, or cartel conflicts. The majority of players should be out and about, creating scenarios, rather than idling in towns and engaging in trolling.
Implementing a money cap would compel players to diversify their activities since they wouldn't be financially secure for life anymore. They would need to earn money to sustain their preferred activities, whether it's trolling in towns, engaging in combat, or participating in criminal activities like robbing, turf wars, or cartel operations.
Encouraging players to run drugs could also revitalize cartel activities, making the struggle for control more worthwhile. Regardless of personal opinions on cartels, it's always been a significant and popular aspect of the server. Introducing new gangs through this mechanism could significantly boost server population and potentially attract even more players.
Furthermore, law enforcement appears to be disproportionately powerful due to their weaponry and high-ranking officers. This issue stems from the low player base and the need to counter large civilian groups. Addressing these aspects is essential for the proposed changes to work optimally.
I disagree with the notion that players don't want to grind for money in an older game. Instead, I believe they're disinclined to grind when others are financially set. It becomes incredibly challenging for new players to establish themselves when existing players are already financially independent.
Ultimately, what's the point of playing on a server where you already have everything? The true enjoyment lies in the journey toward success, not just the destination.

I joined Unknown Academy with high hopes, only to be assigned the thrilling task of guarding the Theresa Market for the off chance that the regulars needed their fix of Redgulls. But that wasn't the worst part. They demanded 25% of my bank account, which was a hefty sum, and promised it would go towards crucial gang expenses like Ifrits and Orcas. However, after days of waiting, John Lemmon, the supposed custodian of our funds, vanished into thin air. Upon digging deeper, I discovered the unimaginable truth – he had sold my hard-earned cash to my own flesh and blood (little brother) for a measly £15! If you enjoy being scammed and betrayed, then by all means, join these swindlers at your own risk
