So luckily you are wrong and to anyone else reading this who has any interest in helping asylum out it might be worth your time.

When going for development jobs you will be turned away before you can get past the application process if you don't have projects that can show the amount of experience you have. Companies expect you to have projects that equate to the amount of time you have spent in that field which usually is around 2-10 years of experience depending on the level of position. For most people they would just list there degree and school projects but a lot of folks prefer not to go to school since 99% of the things at university these days are things you can learn on your own. (Those people would need projects like these.)

One example of this is I made a few websites and a mobile app program for fun for an asylum gang and used it to get a job at IBM. I spent half my interview talking about my my projects for which the asylum one's I made ended up being a huge talking point. Granted I had a ton of projects from school but those were projects that I followed some task I was told to do rather than something I created on my own and could talk extensively about to show what I know.

    Appreciation for your help?

Over on Olympus I had set up a method of paying our developers/designers with in-game content and such. That is something I'm sure that could be discussed with our owners to see what they feel, etc. However, at this time no payments in-game/out of game occur for any of the development positions.

    Captain "Issue"
Hey there. I'm going to address your "concerns" here as I feel the majority of them are likely to be unfounded and baseless.
I'll start off by saying that I feel that I was put into the position I'm in because I'm able to deal with situations in an unbiased manner and by being a level headed individual. If you've spoken to me before, one on one, you'll know this for a fact. I can almost say for certain that I have never spoken to you personally one on one, so I'd like to think this is all conjecture.
That's a fair opinion to have. The problem with spouting stuff like this in a public forum is that you will have people who have had situations arise in the past (not necessarily recently) who will say, "yeah the Captains have done this to me in the past!!! Fuck the Captains!!!" without actually giving any information beyond that. In the past, Asylum was very heavily police-admin oriented and you had admin Captains who would spawn in Armed Ghosthawks, Hunter GMG/HMGs, etc in active fights. Asylum in 2019 is completely the opposite.
The Captains, and myself even, are held to a very high standard. I will publicly say that the only time I have spawned in anything "unfair" was when I was trying out the .50 cal BW rounds for the Type 115 gun. Guess what? I got in trouble for it, because there are standards, and you should be very thankful that there are standards on Asylum. There are boundaries, and while they may not be set in stone, they're definitely understood by everyone.
Captains have the privilege of being able to go around or above the APD's guidebook when and if they feel necessary. Again, this is a privilege and not a right, and has been that way since Asylum's inception. The fact that this is being brought up and discussed now makes me think there is something else going on here.

To go into specifics on this issue here, if any officer is found to be downing a suspect, restraining them, just to take them out of restraints and execute them on the spot, they will have appropriate action taken against them.
Please take note when I say appropriate action taken. Appropriate action highly depends on the situation at hand. To give an example, you coming in here and making this post is about as useful as a random individual messaging me on TeamSpeak telling me that "a cop is abusing my rights." While I will fish for more information, word only goes so far. I can't just take the word of someone and take action on that. I need to see it happening, through sufficient evidence (video, screenshot, etc). Action taken depends on the amount of evidence given, the situation, and the context behind the situation.
I would also like to point out that it is more common to see a rebel shoot and kill their friend on the ground, or jump off a building killing themselves than seeing a cop unrestraining a suspect at the active fight to kill them.
None of our active Captains have the ability to do this except myself, and I don't do that. If you're talking about the retired Captains, there are a couple who have the ability to do this, but as I said before, I don't see this happening and I need to see evidence or a report of it happening, or nothing can be done about it.
Again, the ~17 whitelisted Captains have the ability to do this when they feel necessary. Also, when I say ~17 whitelisted Captains, only a handful of those actually log in to play on the servers. Something to keep in mind.
I'm not sure where you're getting this information from. Your one and only Internal Affairs report back in April on the 22nd was on a Corporal about racism, which is funny because you have no problem with racism at all (). All of the complaints you are talking about, I just don't see it happening.
Community Managers and Owners are able to see all reports, including Captain reports. If they feel the need to step in, they will, and do.
In the end, it's very easy to see things differently from the outside. Since I became Chief, I try to make things as transparent as possible, as keeping everything behind closed doors isn't always healthy. Disciplinary action against individuals I feel should always be dealt with behind closed doors, unless the individuals being dealt with would like to make it public. Player reports and ban appeals hold the same expectation in regards to privacy.
In the past, I feel as though the Captain role has had a very clique-like feel to it, and I prefer to keep it away from that. While the Captains and retired Captains are fairly close-knit, there is never any hesitation in regards to disciplinary if it is necessary.
I've also said this before and I will say it again, I want to see more reports if this happening. I want to see evidence, and not just APD bashing.
If you don't wish to submit a report, you're always welcome to approach the Captain you have an issue with as well. We're all big boys and can handle a one on one civil conversation that doesn't involve "you're a fucking retard."
  11. Scruggs liked a post in a topic by Seán That Irish Guy in Standards that Captains are held too.
Right now Captains, retired captains and captains who are admins, are not being held accountable for the things they do and its been getting increasingly worse over the past few weeks. Ive seen them down and restrain people who are right beside them at prisons, banks feds and after a few minutes just un-restrain and execute them because they dont wanna get them brought back to HQ, spawn in rebel vehicles for themselves to attack prisons, banks and feds, countless times where they just lethal people with or without guns when they please and if reported it will be boiled down to "They are a higher up and they made there own decision during the situation" , ignoring APD procedures like just sending people to jail, not letting people explain etc. Now i know some idiots deserve to get sent but some dont and if anyone below their rank done that they would be penalized for it. All this stated above has brought a lot of disinterest on the server from what ive seen lately.
I understand that there is only a limited amount of Captains but i feel that they need to be held to a much higher standard considering the postilion they are in, especially retired Captains and Captains who are admins, and i honestly dont think its too much to ask for. Now this isnt a dig at the higher ups, even tho the facts above seem very direct, but more of an example of what i feel things need to steer away from. This imo is the last issue on the server besides the obvious crashing and what not to be addressed.
I know this thread is probably gonna light up like a fucking Christmas tree but try keep what you post as necessary as possible and of course Captain and Chief of Police input is needed the most as this is all coming from only one side.

    Afternoon,

We've changed the way you can report bugs. You can now report bugs via the support ticket system by selecting the "Bug & Exploit Report" as the department and filling out the appropriate information. All of our primary developers have access to the submitted tickets and will work as they can to resolve the issues.

    Thanks!

Rebels are not contesting it hardly at all.  It fits logic that cops would respond, why wouldn't cops respond to a crashed aircraft to investigate whats going on /lend aid.  Sounds like you just want an ez handout fam.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. This was a hard decision for me but truth be told I just don’t have time for video games or Asylum anymore. It would not be fair to the staff or the community to be an AFK owner.
I will never forget the great times, friends, and laughs I’ve had since joining this community in 2014. This community was my second home for many years, but all good things must come to an end. I salute you all and I wish you all the very best in your life endeavors.

    Hey all,

So currently the development team is looking for some additional help. We are in need of people for various specialized positions. To help streamline the process we've also created a new method for submitting applications for the positions listed below.
    Positions Available:
Gfx Designer - 1 Position(s) available at this time Map Designer - 1 Position(s) available at this time Content Developer - 1 Position(s) available at this time Web Developer - 1 Position(s) available at this time Description of Positions
Gfx Designer: The role of the graphic designer is to support the other positions (web/content/map) by creating graphics not limited to but mainly textures/icons/images. These graphics could be displayed on the website, in-game on billboards, or used on new textures for vehicles. The content created is to be of quality and should show that thought and effort was put in to the work. Map Designer: The role of the map designer is to support the on-going in-game development of the content developers and creating new map areas or modifying requested portions of the map from either the developers or from upper server management. You could be creating totally new areas on the map for a new server event, new runs, or new objectives. You could also just be making slight adjustments to object orientations and helping perfect object placement on the map and such. Content Developer: Developers are going to be primarily working on new in-game content, bug fixes, exploit resolutions, etc. This role is relatively self explanatory I feel... Web Developer: The role of the web developer will be to create or modify existing web applications and features. This could include modification of forum configurations, content, and flow. This will also involve the creating, updating, and maintaining of various systems such as admin control panels for in-game content management systems. Position Requirements:
ALL POSITIONS: Must be at least 18 years old at time of applying. Must have work examples or proof of knowledge for the position you are applying for. Must have the ability to required software/programs to do the role. Must not be completely brain-dead and have the ability to comprehend given tasks and ask semi-intelligent questions if help is required with your task. If I can find the answer on Google in 5 seconds... it's a stupid question Ability to use TeamSpeak as primary method of communication and Discord as a secondary. Ability to tolerate my mood swings and not take the mean things I say occasionally to heart. Ability to self improve based off of criticism.
Gfx Designer: Access to Photoshop or another content creation tool. Working knowledge of TexView 2 (to convert images to .paa for A3). Map Designer: Knowledge of how to use the Arma 3 Map Editor. Content Developer: Adequate knowledge of SQF. Knowledge of version control systems such as git. Can at least make it by in the Arma 3 Editor. Thick skin. Web Developer: Working knowledge of any of the following PHP/HTML/CSS Knowledge of version control systems such as git. Knowledge of common web related exploits and vulnerabilites such as XSS, CSRF, etc. How to Apply:
Go here: http://www.gaming-asylum.com/forums/index.php?/support/ Select Dev/Design Application from the department dropdown Fill out the fields In the large text field at the bottom please include some information about yourself, any supporting work, and anything you feel we should know about you or your skills that could help us. Submit the form once completed to the best of your ability. Drink a warm cup of milk or something... Watch your support request for followup questions or decision on your application.
I am looking to fill these positions as soon as possible. More positions are likely to open in the future, however to minimize impact on the team and to keep things rolling smooth, we're slowly going to recruit help. Feel free to apply even if the role has been filled, as we will maintain your application and potentially go back to it if we're looking to fill more spots in the future. Please take time in filling out your application and be selective on your work examples.
Any questions regarding any of the above content can be directed to me via forum messenger.
    Thanks,
    Jesse
