Pretty much a make-or-break decision. Even if it doesn't work out and you guys use a backup, there would likely be even fewer players than there are now. I think it's the right decision, though. Might as well try to inject some more life into the server, because it's not going to happen without a major change.

I explain the reasoning in the original post, but again, as they are right now they are completely useless. I can't find any reason or worth that I'd get out of a flying tractor. It's like a money dump that just sits there on the server for no reason other than for flying around in a plane if you're bored.
Regardless of flying skill, the drug runner mission is not worth the amount of risk involved. There's so much risk involved you'd have better luck doing a legal run and making more money that way. To reiterate, the risk involved includes; flying a damaged plane, running out of time, someone camping the NPC, hitting a bush and damaging the plane because of Arma, and then losing time to repair so that you can't complete the mission, flying to two different NPCs which make all of that risk doubled.
If you think about it, it doesn't make a lot of sense for there to be a time limit in-game; Why are these drug smugglers so keen on getting their drugs so quickly? Would they really want their drugs on time if it meant losing the entire shipment to someone camping the drop off? To me the timer should be there as a way to incentivize quick flying if anything, the quicker you get there the more satisfied the smugglers are and the more money you make. Why would they all of a sudden not want their drugs because you're a minute late for whatever reason? Also I'd like to add that on Olympus, their plane missions are not an illegal activity, they make you use your own plane (which cost's more to start the run), they pay out more, and they only make you fly to one NPC/Location. And on Olympus these DP missions do not have any affect on the balance within the server, why can't Asylum do the same? Obviously on Olympus you have more to lose with that being you're using your own plane, you still pay a deposit, but the money you make represents the risk you take, by potentially losing your kit, your plane, and your deposit.
I never said that armed planes had to be a common thing, they'd obviously be very expensive and used in dire circumstances, such as a captain pulling out a ghosthawk. Whoever said cops couldn't have armed planes either to chase down said rebel armed planes, to keep them from being used against the public and law enforcement, such as is the case on Olympus. And the armed plane would obviously require a lot of skill to accurately use, we aren't talking about attaching a 6.5 minigun to the plane, just a single .50 like how Oly does it.
I know it's a staple of Asylum to lose all your shit and quit the server, I suppose that's something you get to grow fond of if you're a sort of Asylum masochist. However, me personally, I don't enjoy losing my hatchback every time someone wants to head on collide with me on a major road. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way or don't, but I think insurance would be a huge positive for the overall quality of life on the server. Again, the dev's can decide which vehicles to give the ability to have insurance and the price of insurance, as giving vehicles like .50 cal trucks low cost insurance, or any insurance for that matter, would be a little broken. But it's an avenue I believe Asylum needs to go down if they want to add more longevity to the player base.
I think you may be right with how time consuming it may take, we don't know if they've already got a system for key-bindings implemented in the back somewhere, but I think if they just started with something simple at the very least, maybe some most used key-binds. I think that would go a very long way. I'd also like to add that the key-bind menu on Olympus does have a lot of key-binds, but to me I find it very easy and intuitive to use, they've got a search menu (and categories I believe?) for everything you need to find, and overall it's most certainly better than having nothing.
While yes I agree with you, not having to put on a seat-belt is great, I however disagree with not being able to tell a difference. I recently just got back to Olympus and as a shit driver, I notice that I am FAK-ing a lot less on Olympus than I do on Asylum. And I'd also like to point out that the hatchbacks on Olympus can have engine mods, so they are even faster, and so you'd think more deadly, but no, I find I'm taking a lot less damage to random crap that I'm hitting on Oly compared to Asy. Obviously if you're Ken Block I'm sure you aren't having the problems I do, but I figure I add that here anyway as just a thought if anyone seems to agree.
Overall, I appreciate your reply, and look forward to more discussion and hopefully some change.

Medic gear check as well, but to be fair he was right that it was a post-v2 fix. I remember distinctly that it was okay at first but once bounty hunting and medic were readded the amount of people getting the weapon check increased to the point that it was the same as v1

The server has not had any of these issues in years. That's why V2 was made and why it was so barren at the start, they took everything out and remade it all. If I remember correctly it was the prison script on a never ending for loop checking if the prisoners had a weapon or not which caused server crashes.

Were going to deny this one,
If you want to see a new cartel layout feel free to build one and submit it as a suggestion. Historically the devs have failed at guessing what sort of cartel caps players want.

So our cartels change, for instance. One location could be the arms cartel and the next restart it could be drug cartel. Personally looking at the cartels they seem pretty balanced besides tower cap on the peninsula but that is just a staple to altis and has been there for ages. Without knowing specifically which one your referring to it’s hard for me to put my input in. This is obviously just my own opinion on these caps and would love to hear other people opinions.

Why do the APDs look run down and dilapidated? Are there any buildings that don’t look like a POS that can be used? Any other assets other than H barriers and green walls? A tree is nice but the lack of shit it makes the PD look like a homeless shelter overrun by homeless people.

As part of our upcoming V3 release we are evaluating a variety of map oriented changes to refresh our cities. Our map designers @zdeat and @.Nathan have been tirelessly working to make our cities something new while holding onto the way our cities have been traditionally setup. Below there are a number of screenshots from these updated cities, we are seeking RAPID FIRE, and straight to the point feedback on these edits so when we go live (ideally sometime towards the end of the week) our peoples are happy and excited for what we have cooked up for everyone.
Athira has the most changes, including relocation of square (across the street) and addition of a theater and housing.
Please give constructive feedback, we want things to be ready to go. Thank you in advance.

Hi all,
I have noticed a lot of uncertainty with the upcoming wipe and I would like to make a post to hopefully put those uncertainties to rest. I also intend on instilling the confidence that I have in this wipe to the rest of the community. As I have mentioned in a previous post, Asylum is at a state right now where getting on and seeing a 30 pop server is something to celebrate. Our developers have been trying furiously hard to pump content into the server that would allow player to have something to do in hopes of bringing more players onto the server. The problem is you cannot pump new content into a server where most of the active players are already at "end game." From an administrative perspective I have been able to see how players typically move on the map, and most of our playerbase do not go out and leave the spawn cities. If they do, they are typically fighting cops at federal events and then right back to sitting in Athira or log off once the cops do. For a server that is based around player vs player interaction, this is not healthy as it leaves nothing to do across the rest of the map. For this reason, a wipe would be the next best step to possibly bring back these player vs player interactions and learn from the previous mistakes that caused us to get to this point in server health.
I do understand that losing years of stats, money, and houses can be frustrating for our current playerbase, but if we sit idle and do nothing, those aforementioned items mean nothing. For those who are concerned about this, you do have to realize our player count has been maxing out at 15 players some nights. We have kept pushing out content and listening to suggestions on what to add, remove, and change but content is not the current issue. I also understand that not wanting to grind is an issue. But I assure you that this wipe will make grinding a whole different and fun experience as it did with the test wipe.
Understanding this reasoning, you should be very excited and confident for this next wipe. A couple months back Asylum had done a test wipe (mentioned above) to see what a wipe would look like. We collected a significant amount of data and took in how the community had felt about the wipe. With this data, your voices, and what we experienced, we had learned A LOT which will allow us to move forward with this wipe in the most professional and organized way possible. We also saw in the wipe that the player vs player interactions that Asylum is based around were occurring allowing for an amazing wipe experience.
As I have said in a previous post, I have never seen our staff team more dialed in and connected in terms of having the SAs/CM and the developers on the same page. We have past Asylum greats throwing their hat in the ring working with our newer staff members to ensure that this is done correctly. We have people within the server staff team and outside of the server staff team working as well to give our server a face lift and a breath of fresh air. We have already announced a solid foundation for the wipe and cannot wait to get it out.
There are also many things to look forward to after the initial wipe. This wipe allows us to continue on as a community, staff team, APD staff team, and AFD staff team, and reflect on what had happened in the past and learn from this. This server has been around for years and this wipe offers us a solid base in terms of new beginnings allowing the community to grow and push forward reflecting on and learning from previous experiences.
With this I hope to continue to hear your voices in TS and read your forums posts as the staff team works diligently to get this update/patch out. I would like to also hear and read any other concerns you guys may have after reading this that could possibly be answered. All eyes within the Arma 3 community are on us. Lets make this happen.
Thank you all for your dedication and loyalty and I hope to see you all in game.
Best,
Junke 🍌
