As part of our upcoming V3 release we are evaluating a variety of map oriented changes to refresh our cities.  Our map designers @zdeat and @.Nathan have been tirelessly working to make our cities something new while holding onto the way our cities have been traditionally setup.  Below there are a number of screenshots from these updated cities, we are seeking RAPID FIRE, and straight to the point feedback on these edits so when we go live (ideally sometime towards the end of the week) our peoples are happy and excited for what we have cooked up for everyone.

Athira has the most changes, including relocation of square (across the street) and addition of a theater and housing.

Please give constructive feedback, we want things to be ready to go.  Thank you in advance.

Athira looks horrible, you can tell its all off centered and lifeless, almost like there's too many rugged edges and things were placed in a rush. The other 2 look great! Can we use @Hubschrauber HQ designs? They look AMAZING and you can tell a lot of time and work were put into them.

Layouts looking good for the most part, that one square piece in Athira looks whack with all the sidewalks though. Overall not a big deal but I feel like its going a bit too far from matching the feel of the rest of the map and cities. Maybe its the crazy amount of palm trees or sidewalks but I would prefer it to blend in a bit better.

yea you can tell athira didn't have as much time in it, didn't even get the pretty sidewalks.

So I completely understand your point but I’ll try to explain our reasoning behind doing this. So with things like adding a fed event or small new content it’s very easy for us to just remove it or drastically change it after a patch has come out. Something like a city change is completely different. Like Fitz said there has been houses moved and replaced and even new ones put down in areas. If we add one of these cities and the community doesn’t like it it’s not a simple revert back to the old one as at that point people will have houses there. Yes you could refund but that creates other problems. This is the first and probably only time that we will get the chance to make a major change to a city since we are wiping. From this we are just wanting feedback from the community on how they feel about doing something like this since a drastic change to a city hasn’t been done on asylum before (removing and replacing houses). Also just from the feedback so far we see that a few tweaks need to be made, which is good for us to know. Hopefully this helps to explain the reasoning behind this post.

I would like to suggest that if you're going to rework each city, could you sparse out vehicle garages and add car shops similar to Olympus? What I mean by this is limit the walking time to get to a car garage somewhat. Maybe add a car shop on one side of the city, then a separate garage on the other. I hate having to spawn in Therisa and having to walk to where the AC tower is in-order to grab a car. I also think just one garage in each city really condenses things especially if since there's no NLR and you want to leave a city, someone who's just killed you will be waiting at the garage camping it, continuing to kill you over and over until you gain some sense to spawn somewhere else. I'm sure a lot of new and old players get frustrated or confused by it.

 

Also on the topic of houses/map rework. I'd like to suggest that the industrial sheds are only able to be purchased and used for a gang spawn and storage like on Olympus/Anzus to reduce the hoarding of sheds by individual players. This would also remove the abuse of some gang owners switching their gang building as they see fit. I personally think the feature where gangs can switch their gang building to fit their needs is a bit broken and cheesy. I also feel as though someone owning three sheds around the map makes little to no sense other than having a monopoly on sheds, which just makes the server feel unfair and bland. So, I suggest removing player owned industrial sheds, only letting gangs purchase a single shed with gang-funds, and do the upgrades with the funds as such. At least gang funds will have a use this way instead of being just a bank for gang members or gang payouts.

 

Also to compensate for the removal of player owned industrial sheds, I suggest adding a counterpart shed and maybe other unique buildings not often seen on Altis that can function in the same way as the previous sheds did. Being a rare and expensive piece of real-estate for players to fight over. While also having gang sheds for enough people to go around.

I like the idea of a rework of these cities and think it's a great way to freshen things up a bit, and as far as my suggestions go I think having a spread out real estate market is beneficial to Asylum in fairness and gameplay. However, I added these suggestions as they came to me while reading this post, and they are just some of my thoughts on how the map could be improved for the wipe. If I have to make this a suggestion in the suggestion page, let me know, I would also like to see what people think of these ideas. Appreciate the developers for their best to keep the server and memories alive!

this post means you dont know about the hidden car spawn so until you find it keep walking to atc tower

I do know about the single hidden car spawn in Therisa lmfao, it takes just as long to get to it when you spawn on the opposite side of Therisa.

I think the square ultimately looks nice over all. I think you did a good job. My only 2 negative critiques would be I'm not in love whole trophy car/rock thing and ramp with broken down cars. And also i think there needs to be a chair/picnic table/bench type area off to the right near the billboard in that hedged off area. Somewhere for medics and other people to chill out of the road but still near the action, so they can dance, have a cook out, call each other the N and F word etc etc....

I have two things to say about this part,

The vehicles in the area that are set as an object are always able to be changed. I messaged like 20 people and asked what vehicle most represents Athira and received a bunch of different vehicles. They can be changed out at almost anytime as well, but I think that once we put the skins on those vehicles it will look a lot better. 

I forgot to put benches in... doing that now 🙂

I'm not sure how annoying it would be, but when a new patch drops and new skins are released you can put them on those as a display of sort for people to check it out!

Ya if you ask 20 different people you are going to get 20 different answers for sure. I looked at the screenshots again I originally thought it was like on a main road in the town center effectively blocking a roadway with debris and such. I see now that it is not but more a behind the DMV cosmetic thing. I mean it's whatever its fine. I have to ask even though I'm sure I know the answer but is that ifrit asset like static meaning non interactable? Because I could see someone trolling and attaching remote bombs or lockpicking it day 1 or some other such non sense to troll.

This is quite a good idea like see it before  you buy it type deal so people could check them out in game in full detail.

You could also add a warehouse type building a effective (car dealership) in athira with 1 of each vehicle that skins are typically sold for and let people spectate and view them in detail before buying also etc. This would be extra work on the devs though to constantly upgrade them each time some new skin comes out and something tells me they're going to be like meh fuck all that you can tell in the screenshots.

Its literally as simple as putting something like "this setObjectTextureGlobal [0, "IMAGESKINFILENAME.JPG"];
