I mean, at this point, maybe a half wasteland server isn't the worst idea in the world. If you cut the map in half, say from the current chop shop to where an African warloard was by a big fuck off wall and make that the contaminated zone. Make it so you need a hazmat suit to go in there and make it a free fire zone where you can go to murder NPCs to gather forgotten weapons or loot like pop-up events that happen every 20 mins or so and make it that each npc you kill counts for a murder on your wanted list, and you slowly get radiation poisoning so you can't just stay in there 24/7
As you need to do something outside the box for the slimest of chances to bring players back.

Good Evening Asylum Community,
A few weeks ago we had a community meeting to discuss the best way forward and what we can do to increase the population on our server. We talked through some ideas and then pushed out a community poll to get feedback on them.
After we closed the poll we took some time to look at the data, and to look at a proof of concept for a Malden Life Asylum community. @Iukeand @zdeat did a great job in showing us what an Asylum Malden life could look like, and we’ve been digesting that for a few days whilst getting feedback from a number of people within the community.
The poll data was inconclusive, with the neutral and negative portions outweighing the positive. After reviewing this more closely, weighing other feedback, pros and cons, we have decided that Malden is simply too small, and the terrain does not conform to a life format properly.
While we are not moving forward with a map switch at this time, we have seen how a smaller map has the opportunity to increase interaction and the possibilities for additional content on the server, and we have confidence that we will be able to replicate these same features on a reworked version of Altis.
Taking place on a smaller more streamlined version of Altis , this revamped framework will take into account the data gathered from our poll, focusing on heavier RP opportunities, while also fostering the same combat that has made Asylum popular over the years. This will also be a good opportunity to see how we can continue to edit the Asylum idea in different ways, and potentially provide a roadmap for how we would move to another game in the future, with the release of Arma 4, or other similar titles.
Features to be expected:
Service based economy missions (Assasination, vehicle delivery, crate pickup)
Beefed up optional tutorial system with a green zone and increased visibility to the server.
Personal Distress beacons
Karaoke
Boat drug running missions
Gang house drug shipments
Admin warning system
Prestige store with access to elite weapons, attachments, vehicles, and items.
Border patrol outposts
City Hall raids
Reworked Casino,Mental Asylum, Jewelry Emporium maps
Revitalized urban areas and new spawn points
Smokes
More random events including infection containment, and scavenging
Streamlined map and interactions
Fixing of all known bugs as of release
These are lofty goals, but with the increasing size of our design team, and the welcoming back of @Gen. Henry Arnold to the development team, our goal is to have a small bug fix and initialization patch out this weekend, and then a larger release mid-late April. As we work through this transparency will be key, and leaks will consistently be posted in our discord.
**Until this release date we will be evaluating the limited opening of S2 domination on the Utes map, an exact schedule will be released once we have decided on a proper balance with our testing server needs.
Best,
Fitz

Good Morning Asylum! It was great to hear from so many of you last night regarding the community, and where we go from here. Find below a Google form with a few questions regarding what was discussed- please take some time to review this and provide feedback. My goal is to have this data aggregated by Th/F of this week and have an update for the community after that.

I have been offering to help give the server a complete face lift, a total uniform and fleet skin makeover for over a year and a half. Donating your time and efforts seems to fall on deaf ears. Check my posts and links https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197965555499/screenshots/. Loved the server sad to see its state.

Congratulations to @Austin M and @Ken for their promotions to Senior Admin. Give them a few days to get their feet wet before blowing up their DMs. They join Akula and Darkknight as community staff leads in overseeing the staff team, and managing the server & community.
These are well deserved, and we are excited to see what they can do to help improve the server as we move into 2025.

BlackShot liked a post in a topic by zdeat in Temp Removal of Cop Ratio Limit
I understand why the limit is needed in certain times for the server, but I and a lot of other officers believe that it would be best for us to remove this cop to civ ratio for the time being.
The issue that comes up with the ratio and the state of the server is if there is more than SEVEN cops online and someone who only mains Cop wants to come and play, they are going to get ratioed and wont be able to play cop. On paper you guys might think that the Officer will just go to play civ but it just doesn't work that way. There are people that only want to play cop and don't really care to play civ, and with how things are, I believe we should be trying to hold as many people playing as we can.
I believe we should allow Sergeant+ to help control where cops are and what they are doing which would help the issues that would arise if we do remove the ratio. This IMO would address almost all concerns that will come up when talking about this, if not id love to hear them below.

Asylum Community,
Just a quick update from the team here, we want to thank you all for your support in reopening, it’s been awesome to see so many people back online running around. Here is a quick update on where we are.
Over the past few weeks, our updates have been focused on bug fixes, anti-cheat improvements, and quality-of-life enhancements. While we would have loved to dedicate more time to new content during this period, these efforts were absolutely necessary to strengthen the foundation of our platform.
In addition to addressing key issues, we’ve made significant progress on much-needed backend infrastructure improvements and updates. These changes are essential for ensuring long-term stability and performance, providing us with a more solid base to build on as we move forward.
Here is what we have planned for you all as we come into the new year and beyond.
Localized Prison Cells at Police HQs:
Each police HQ will be equipped with a small holding cell. If a gang member is caught (e.g., during a federal heist), they’ll be temporarily detained here.
Breakout Opportunity:
Gang members will have a limited window (X minutes) to attempt an easier prison break from the local holding cell.
Failure Consequences:
If the breakout attempt fails within the set timeframe (or once all gang members are processed and jailed, TBD), the detained player will be transferred to the main jail to serve the remainder of their sentence.
Dispute system
A lot of rule violations that currently end up as as reports and require admin intervention could be handled between the players themselves. This includes asking for compensation, explaining your side of the story etc, and if you can’t figure it out with the other player an admin will step in and take over. Implementing a system to handle these disputes between players will speed up the process for both parties and ensure people don’t get needlessly banned for minor infractions, while also ensuring compensation is properly logged and visible for admins.
Admin warning system
The new warning system provides admins with the ability to issue warnings to players for minor infractions, without resorting to more drastic actions like bans. This is especially useful when admins are not online or when the player is offline.
Players will be required to read and accept the warning before being allowed to continue playing, ensuring they are aware of the issue.
Now obviously there will be some people that will ignore the warning, thats why admins will be able to track of the amount and frequency of warnings a player receives and still issue bans accordingly for repeat offenders
Note that this system will not replace the current ban system, this system is for minor rule violations and cases where the situation isn’t cut and dry, Clear and intentional violations will still get issues by the regular bans
Interactive gathering with tractors, not driving in circles, harvesting bushes for cotton, tobacco, etc
New and improved SRT dynamic, and additional opportunities for civ v specialize cop combat outside of federal events.
New skins and crates coming soon
@Kelly and @Iuke have made some awesome new skins for us to enjoy, including something we’ve never done before
Tutorial town
As part of our roadmap, we're thrilled to introduce Tutorial Town! This will be the perfect starting point for newcomers, designed to help players learn the ropes.
Players will be able to experiment with core features in a low-pressure, guided environment.
Guide NPC's in towns
Navigating our towns is about to get easier than ever for new players! Each town will feature a Guide NPC, specifically designed to help new players find key locations and points of interest.
Strife domination release (soon)
Hireable gas stations for cool perks and passive income
We’re introducing Hireable Gas Stations, an exciting new feature that offers players cool perks and opportunities for passive income. Here’s how it works:
Own Your Spot: There are three gas stations available to hire, and they reset every server restart.
Passive Earnings: Once hired, the gas station generates money over time, which is deposited into a secure safe. It’s up to you to empty the safe regularly—before someone else tries to take it!
Raids and Risks: Other players can raid your gas station to steal the cash you’ve earned. Keep an eye out and defend your property!
Time-Based Ownership: If you’re offline for more than 10 minutes, your gas station becomes available for someone else to hire. Stay active to maximize your income!
Launder with a Bonus: Gas stations double as a laundering spot for banknotes, giving you a 1.5x payout on your cleaned money.
Play More, Earn More: The longer you stay in-game, the higher your return on investment.
Battle Pass
The battle pass will consist of daily/weekly challenges that need to be completed to increase your rank, the further along you get the more rewards you get. There will be 2 tiers available for the battle pass
The free tier will reward you with in-game items, Asylum gold, and some lower tier skins
The paid tier (bought with Asylum gold) will contain premium skins, asylum gold and more rewards
Gang house drug shipments
Thank you @Kill Switch for the idea. As a token of appreciation, you have been awarded 500 gold for your contribution.
Once a large amount of drugs is stashed at the gang house a shipment can be started, this shipment will lead to a hidden drug dealer that will pay you more for the convenience to buy large amounts of drugs at once. Be warned tho, once you start the shipment other players will get tipped off about your general starting location and direction of the dealer.
Distress Beacon
Thank you @K0Mat0s3 for the idea. As a token of appreciation, you have been awarded 500 gold for your contribution.
An item that will alert police to your location, to which they will respond with high priority. Always usable(even while handcuffed/blindfolded) and only purchasable and usable while part of the Workers Union. We hope this will give newer players and players doing legal money making methods more of a fighting chance against.
Leaving mail for house owners
Thank you @moift for the idea, As a token of appreciation, you have been awarded 500 gold for your contribution.
Leaving mail at a house will allow you to leave a message for an unknown home owner. Whether you've accidentally damaged their property, such as hitting a baseball through their window, or if you wish to make an offer to purchase the house. Simply leave a letter for the home owner to find next time they check their house’s mailbox, this will be as non intrusive as possible to not bother people with prime real estate while still allowing people to make contact.
Obviously this is not all but it is an idea of what is to come, we are obviously open to any ideas you as a community might bring to us!
You may have noticed that we’ve started awarding 500 gold to players whose suggestions have made meaningful contributions to Asylum. This is our way of saying thank you for helping us improve and grow together!
Going forward, we’re excited to keep this initiative rolling—good suggestions deserve recognition. We hope this incentive motivates you to put effort into crafting thoughtful and impactful ideas. Your input is invaluable, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
We also want to increase the frequency of patches, no longer waiting and compiling changes but instead push changes as soon as they are completed and tested. more rapid iteration will allow us to react/adapt to community feedback and suggestions more effectively.
We're grateful for your support and we can't wait to hear your feedback and suggestions.

BlackShot liked a post in a topic by silenthunter217 in asylum exchange app
basically the title. why not add an app to the in-game phone that allows players to see what is actively available on the market. either make it so that the player can make a purchase from the phone and pick up "at store" or just a way to view it then make the trip. how many times have you wanted to know if ifrits are available, and how much they are? what about sui vests? orcas?
IE;
on exchange there are 3x ifrits.
player opens the in-game phone, access the exchange app, the app opens the "storefront" just like at the npc's or similar. searches for ifrits sees there are 3x listed. 1x listed at 60k 2x listed at 55k.
at this point either;
A: the player can purchase the item. OR
B: the player has to go to the npc to purchase "the current system"

*i want to purpose GETTING RID OF THE FUCKING AXE FOR FIREFIGHTER. its nothing but a nuisance.
*a hospital spawn point in therisa! for fucks sake make this a thing already! seems pretty easy to me, copy and paste one of the current hospital locations.
*when there are multiple people fighting a fire, it should take less time to put out.
*some fires destroy building WAY too fast, for example in paros. most of those building will burn down before you can even arrive. how about give them a little buff on timers
*an audible fire alarm when a new fire starts, its easy to miss the text notification, especially when there are multiple fires.
*allowing medics to perform *legal* tasks already in place for civs, IE mining and whatever else. NOT allowing to refine sed items, but only to sell to shops.
*destroyed vehicles; when a vehicle blows up and is a burning wreck, it lasts all of probably 5-15seconds. majority of the time you cant get to them to clear the wreck, make the despawn on burning wrecks a bit longer- 90 seconds?
*house repairs; they cost too much for civs. so majority of the time a civ wont request it. lower the cost of repair drastically.
*give access to medics to see civ side chat. READ ONLY so when they are planning a fed we know where to be looking, or if shit is popping off somewhere, hey, medically attention is available faster.
*since medics cant have ifrits, let us "upgrade" the armor on our current vehicles.
a long time ago it was approved that;
-medics could get either a zamak fuel "firetruck" or a truck fuel "firetruck" that can be slung around under the taru "paramedic+"
if we do get one or both of these, make it available for emt's to save them to their garage, so for those fires in BFE they can hatchback it to the closest npc and pull the firetruck. it would be easier to drive, less risk of "collateral damage" of course with that, the chiefs would create new policy and guidelines.
-new"ish" skins for the medic vehicles.
cops and civs get new shit all the time, show us some love too. pls

Please consider using the Asylum Launcher to download the mission file and join the server.
This helps the server by reducing load from everyone downloading the mission file at once and helps you get in the server faster! (on a normal connection it will take a second or two to download vs the full minute when downloading using the game itself) it will also launch the game and connect you straight to the server.

BlackShot liked a post in a topic by Sp0on in How did you hear of this server, and what made you stay?
A post in another thread inspired the idea for this thread. How did you stumble upon Asylum, and what was the most memorable event that made you want to stay in the server?
I for one just downloaded arma 3 after beating 1,2 and Operation Arrowhead. I heard about Dayz but by the time I did so, the servers were dead for the game (before stand alone of course). I knew that Arma 3 was barely a year old so I googled game play footage and stumbled upon a video of our life server. Someone uploaded a video of their friend getting shot by cops, and so the person decided to go and lock pick the car that the police had their friend in. POV person got shot as he tried to drive away with his friend that was still in handcuffs, and he was pulled from the vehicle then he proceeded to tell the cop that he was given keys by the officer's partner. The officer appeared to be legitimately confused as to why homie had the keys and apologized, letting the pov player go. I don't remember the rest of the video but at that point I was fucking dying of laughter. It reminded me a lot of Trailer Park Boys, and I had to play the server. Spent much of my time in the beginning learning about the game while in Kavala, and eventually I became a member of the APD where I learned a lot about the server from there. The rest is history you can say. I have a lot of favorite early memories of this server. My first drug run I made it all the way to dealer, and I died of hunger(thirst?) right in the middle of selling my shit. Had 0 money to go back. Sucks to suck.
What made me stay was the active community and staff.
What brought you here?

A small note regarding the upcoming patch:
As many of you know, we've recently undergone a transfer of ownership which involved moving stuff and setting up all the necessary systems. This process took more time than anticipated and unfortunately did cut into our development schedule for this patch.
We decided to still move forward and release a smaller patch to prevent an extended time without updates and use this as an example of the more open communication we want to strive for.
We appreciate your patience and ongoing support as we work hard to bring the server back to its full potential. Your dedication keeps Asylum strong, and we're excited for what's to come.
You can expect the patch to be released by the end of this week or early next week.
An exact date will be added here in a couple days
Patch will release on Sunday the 8th of September
Added:
Tri-Weekly Domination Event Tuesdays @ 5:00PM EST, Thursdays @6:00PM EST, Saturday 3:00PM At the above times Domination will pop on the island. One of four zones will be randomly selected to be contested. (Sofia, Panagia, Arms Island, Drug Peninsula) For 90 minutes players will be able to spawn at the Domination Rebels and participate at the event, they will be fighting over a pot of the Governors money, and a tax of all weapons and vehicles bought during the event. Players will be paid if they have at least 250 points with a bonus for placing top 5. There is a random chance when a flag moves that one of the flags will spawn a: Hotzone: Points gather twice as fast Hardpoint: Control of the hardpoint goes to the gang with the most players within the flag zone Defuse the Bomb: A bomb is placed at the point, the gang who defuses it when the time expires gains 250 extra points to their score During the event a myriad of optimization features are enabled within the area to delete vehicles, suitcases and corpses within the zone. Players during the event receive 2x blood money for all kills in the zone Hit "J" to see all the gangs and their points Pot counter above the top three on the side of your screen Cartels in the area are disabled during the event, Arms Cartel does not take a cut from the rebels Random Event Additions During the restart we have added a number of random events that will spawn in different locations. They are able to be contested by APD and Rebels although the APD is not required to attend. If they are not secured within the time limit they will self-destruct Disabled Vehicles One of the following 3 vehicles are randomly selected to spawn [Ghosthawk (Armed), Prowler HMG, Minigun Boat] Players scroll on the option "Secure Vehicle" If the players gang is securing the vehicle when the 15 minute timer expires they will be able to use the vehicle for the restart If the APD secures it the vehicle will be seized by the officers Rebel Weapons Cache A weapons crate will spawn randomly on the island, the loot table is the following: [Suicide vests, grenades, flashbangs, Katiba, Type 115, Mk200, LIM, RPG-7, Ak12, MXC, MX, ADR-97 Both variants] Players scroll "Secure Vehicle" to set their gang as the securing group Players will have access to the loot after 15 minutes APD Cache A disabled Huron full of APD loot will spawn on the island, loot table is the following: [Mk200, Suicide Vests, Grenades, LIM, RPG-32, CMR-76, Zafirs, MK1, Spr-17, MXC,MX] [Lockpicks, redgull, speedbombs, element 115, remote explosives, arsonist kits, bank notes, meth, goldbars, etc] Players scroll "Secure Vehicle" to set their gang as the securing group Players will be able to secure the evidence shipment and the Huron by securing it for 15 minutes Hotzone Event At random a cartel point will be selected as a Hotzone. During the event kills within the capture zone receives 2x blood money The gang holding the cartel when the event completes receives a 300k bonus. Cartel Bonuses Gangs will now receive a cash bonus when they fully capture a cartel. This bonus is tied to the percentage that the gang has captured and the number of players online. If you capture from 60% up to 100% you will receive less than if you captured from 100% down to 0% and back to 100%. National HQ Admin Event The APD Commissioner has requested the return of the APD National HQ as a base of operations for the APD. Cops can spawn here and do all of the things that they would normally do in any other HQ, except this one is better The Anti-Air turret/security fense is only active during the admin event though...... unless? No jk its only enabled during the event Event: An admin can activate a raid of the National HQ. Players will be prompted to join via a "9" popup on their screen, they are then put into the raiding group and teleported nearby to gear-up and supply. APD officers are able to spawn in the HQ until the perimeter has been breached to defend their headquarters. Civilians must breach all layers of the HQ security to successfully secure the APD intelligence and receive their payment. APD Weapon locker Can be found at every HQ (cabinet hanging on the wall next to the store npc), allows you to store some guns/clothes to swap between them (CBRN suit for uranium etc) SWAT Rework V1 Please keep in mind this is an early iteration of a reworked SWAT system, there are more changes coming to how exactly this system works but we wanted to move forward with this early version to see how exactly it would affect federal events and the community. We will be keeping a close eye on the system and apply balancing when needed. Loadouts Non SWAT whitelisted officers now receive a scaling amount of "upgraded" loadouts when a federal event pops based on a few criteria, We will be tweaking these values to maintain a proper balance. Amount of opposing players opposing players gear a few other factors The "upgraded" loadouts are NOT SWAT (MK1, helmet, etc) kits. but are bound by the same rules (no dropping gear etc, an updated APD policy will be available before the actual patch) The loadout contains a weapon slightly above that officers rank, therefor increasing APD effectiveness overall vs only buffing a few select SWAT officers Cadet: MXC Constable: Type 115 Corporal: Type 115 / Spar 17 Sergeant+: MK-1 SWAT Garage Based on the same factors as described above the amount of available SWAT vehicles will scale accordingly. Ability to repair vehicles at fuel stations for a small fee coming soon Vehicle garage at storage facilities Loadout option at turfs (these will be separate loadouts due to the different availability of weapons/items) MX Smoke Launcher and Ammo to Skiptracers Gang skins (Want your own?) The Money Prestige System (MPS) is a system that should allow players to spend their money in a simple, yet effective way to progress their account in a potentially endless way.
Video games in general have used this system as a way to always have a goal available to players to progress their account even though they may have maxed everything else out. Asylum's main driver is making money. The system should not be an end-game, but should be a concurrent reward system to assist players in their day-to-day play style.
The Problem to Solve
Currently, it seems like we have ways to make money, but not enough meaningful ways to spend it. We can buy vehicles and weapons to fight, but they can easily get lost. We can purchase skins via the paint shop, and they're great, but what if you're just not into those skins?
The Solution
The MPS is intended to be a simple, accessible, rewarding, and expandable progression system on Asylum, allowing players to permanently progress their account with the main currency on the server, money.
The Rewards
The good thing about an MPS is that the rewards can be very wide ranging. These can range from skins (weapons?), to discounts, titles, and emotes. Potential future rewards could potentially include new weapon unlocks, vehicle unlocks, a new town spawn only for the most prestigious. The sky is the limit.
What it Looks Like
Below is an example of what the MPS could look like in terms of rewards and cost (to be balanced at a later time).
The Money Prestige System
Prestige Level Cost Reward 1 $100,000 0.5% global discount 2 $150,000 Pink Sports Hatchback Skin 3 $200,000 "the Wealthy" title
Implementation
To increase your prestige, all you need to do is go to any ATM and there will be a button to access the prestige system. The system will be simple and easy to understand. table, th, td { border: 1px solid black; border-collapse: collapse; }
Looking for Ideas
I need to know if you guys like this idea, and if so what kind of rewards would you want to see for a Money Prestige System?
Current Reward Ideas
Vehicle skins Weapon skins Global money discounts Increased honour/infamy/prestige gains Weapon unlocks Vehicle unlocks A new town spawn Extra house/shed slots -

With little to no communication since wipe, it has gotten stale real fast. We went "back in time" with removing so many things with the wipe, but did not shake up the map/server in a way that would retain players. A few of the changes that came with wipe were nice QoL things but all in all, Asylum is still feels the exact same it did years ago and likely doesn't feel 'fresh' anymore to anyone with a few hundred hours much less thousands on Asylum.
Re-adding Shipping/Evidence lockup is/was nice, but I also wonder: Are the plans moving forward to just re-add the things we had pre-wipe? And if so, then there was no real point to wiping.
I remember mentioning it months ago when you had the test weekend for wipe and stating in the community get-together, I felt like a reshuffle of the map would have been a good idea, and I still stand by that even now post-wipe. Asylum may have wiped, but nothing has really stood out to me since the first week once I had a little bit of money/houses.

Make it so that the default page is sorted by distance and not alphabetically so that we don't have to click the right arrow button every time we need to mark an all clear.
