I'm really new to this server just started playing a week or two ago and I'm really enjoying it so far, so I thought I would just sign up to the forums and make a post saying hi!

I guess this New Year's mood made me a bit inspired today, so I decided to share my story with you all - the ones that care enough to read it to the end. I don't mean to sound corny, it's really just about a legit experience with Asylum - and the people that play it - that indeed affected my real life in more than one way.   I started playing Asylum a bit before the hacking in 2015, but I took a considerable break because of personal reasons. I then returned in 2016, almost a year later I believe.   (For those of you who don't know it, I was born in Brazil and therefore my native language isn't English. It's Portuguese.)   One of the first things I did when I came back was apply again for the APD. Because I had a very limited level of English back then, I was very insecure about taking the interview and failing it, but things went good and I became a Cadet once again (had played a few weeks in 2015).   I made it to Constable after being helped a lot by @Mr. Linux and taking my ride-along with @Maxime, which was very easy-going about the English thing.   My first experiences were really funny. Whenever I arrested a toxic little prick, they would scream something like "Give me an English-speaking officer!" or "Do you even speak English?" and some other toxic stuff. My accent was weird (it's still somewhat noticeable) and I would 'stumble' over some words or mispronounce them with a certain higher frequency. However, it was still intelligible and I could make myself clear enough.   After playing for a few more months - let's say six or eight - was when my arrests and my experiences started changing. The toxic ones would now rarely mention the matter with my English. Now, whenever they said something, it probably involved the word 'pig' or similar. That's when I realized something else was changing: my Speaking was improving and that wouldn't have occurred to me if it wasn't by the toxic Asylum players. I guess I ironically owe them some thanks.   Few more months later and I took an exam called TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language. It's required to non-native speakers of English especially if they wanna join a North American university or college. It isn't an easy test and it involves 4 abilities: reading, listening, speaking and writing. My score was 110 out of 120, whereas the university I was interested in only required a score of 65, if I'm not mistaken.   I still haven't joined any foreign universities or left the country, but that's still in my list of goals. At this moment I'm studying law in my country and I also got a job last semester. Surprisingly, I worked as a teacher. What did I teach? English.   I'm not perfect at the language and I'm still far from speaking it like a native speaker (I still make a bunch of mistakes), but the progress I achieved in such a short time was thanks to all the time I spent talking and interacting with Asylum players. I wouldn't have got such a high score on my English test if it wasn't by the community nor would I have gotten a job if it wasn't by the exam I took (I attached it to my résumé).   Of course that in the meantime I got closer to some people that would treat me very kindly. At the beginning of my APD 'career', I remember asking people to correct my English and make me sound more natural. It really helps. It carried on to Steam, Skype, Discord and even WhatsApp. Guys like @Nate!!!, @Midamaru, @explicit, @Chris Preuninger, @Olivia, @Morgan Lacerda, @Brendon Smith, @Alec-I, @InnateOcean, @Sandwich, @General Baked Potatoes, @GreenDemon, @Samperino and a *bunch * of others were always very understanding about it, and communicating with them was essential.   Besides getting an excellent grade on my test and getting a job after spending time on Asylum, I also made a lot of friends. From enjoying online game sessions to trading real-life advice (and I could quote Midamaru again), playing in this community allowed me to expand my knowledge and build strong friendships. This isn't a farewell post so I won't quote anyone else, but you know who you are.   Finally, I wanted to say that learning a new language is hard as fuck. It requires constant practice and a lot of patience. The ones who strive for perfection, like me, suffer a bit more, 'cause there's no magical formula to learn it all and learn it perfectly - especially Speaking, it sucks. If you find someone trying to learn or speak your language, give them some encouragement and help them when needed. Correcting he/she and giving tips is very important too (just don't be a dick about it).   Oh, and thanks @BaDaBiNg_10-8 and @Clint Beastwood for not letting the thing that brought me so many amazing experiences be buried under the ground. Wish you all the best in the new management!

This used to be in @Bluerage's P1 guidebook but it got removed. Credit goes to him. I use this all the time and it's very useful (especially when you're HVTing someone).

Basically instead of muting your teamspeak sound (making you completely unable to hear your teamspeak comms), you just lower it significantly so you can still process people but can still hear your name being called if someone says it loudly or if something erupts (HQ under attack, higher-up request, etc..)

    Here's how you do it:
    1. Open up your Teamspeak options (Tools tab > Options) & create a new playback profile. Name it whatever you want and choose the default settings. We'll tweak it later.

    2. Go to the hotkeys tab. In this guide we're going to make one hotkey per profile, but if you'd like, you can just make one button function as a toggle.
Create a new hotkey by clicking on the Add button.
Set your key to whatever you want it to be. This key will be to bring back your sound to normal. I have mine set to print screen.

Now select the little dropdown button named "Show Advanced Actions" > Playback profile (click on the arrow beside it in order to expand) > Activate Playback Profile > Default

You should now see something similar to this:

    3. Now it's time to set a hotkey to switch to your lowered sound profile. Repeat step 2, but instead of choosing your default profile, choose your "lowered" profile.

As you can see, I've set my "lowered sound" hotkey to the Pause/break key. We can now switch between profiles.

    4. All that's left is tweaking the sound on your lowered profile. If you go back to the "Playback" tab in your Teamspeak options, you can adjust it by clicking on the "Lowered sound" profile and dragging the volume slider. I have mine set to -30 dB, but the level at which you need to set it at depends on your sound configuration so I invite you to experiment with it. You can easily tweak it later.
Make sure you've selected the "Lowered sound" profile and not your default profile when adjusting your volume!

I have seen many posts  that have suggested asylum has a casino where players can gamble their Hard earned cash
Similar to Exile as Shown Below Players could play Russian roulette or slot machines

Exile also has Slot Machines both the Russian roulette and slot machines could be implemented into Asylum in a few weeks ( with the communities help)

I think in order to ensure assassin stays useful (Within a few days most people will stop wasting money on it) the server should give out 25k-50k bountys every 30 minutes or so.

Sometimes sending someone to jail just doesn't make you feel good.  Sometimes you really want revenge.  Sometimes someone just has to die...
    Dead or Alive
Rebels on the the island of Altis have decided to band together and setup an illicit murder for hire racket.  Players can now place bounties to have other players killed by visiting a rebel outpost.  Rebels have the ability to level up as an Assassin which will allow them to track players faster and more accurately, as well as to ensure they get a larger cut of the assassination bounty.  Only the best hitmen will become Master Assassins.
Other members of the island may not want to go out and kill people, but instead may want to get discounts at rebel, sell their illegal items for more, and process drugs faster.  If that sounds like you, then you should choose to become an Intimidator.  The Intimidator will receive discounts on items and vehicles at rebel shops.  Drug dealers will pay more for their goods since you've got the good s*#t.  You'll also be able to make those drugs faster.  The Master Intimidator even gets a discount from the APD on their bounty.
Finally, maybe you feel more like an Outlaw.  Outlaws can lock pick cars faster.  They get more money when robbing gas stations.  They even have special medical talents to allow them to blood bag, splint, and defib players faster.  If you can become a Master Outlaw, then you will even have access to a full medical shop at the rebel outposts.
Players with a Rebel license now have access to the Infamy skill trees Three Infamy skill trees have been added:  Assassin, Intimidator, and Outlaw Players can now place kill bounties on other players inside the community.   Kill bounties are taken and redeemed at Rebel Outposts. Players killing other players with a kill bounty on their head must still follow all RP rules of the server.   The sub trees of Assassin allow for a smaller tracking radius, faster re-track times, and getting more of the bounty When you kill a player with a bounty on their head, they will drop a "scalp" virtual item that must be turned in at the rebel outpost in order to collect the bounty.   To track a player kill bounty, simply enter the circle and the location will update without scroll wheeling - provided you are not in a vehicle.   Collected scalps can be stolen from other players by killing them (again, RP rules apply). The sub trees of Intimidator grant discounts at rebel outposts, increase in sale prices of illegal items (drugs and gold bars), and faster processing of drugs.   The sub trees of Outlaw allow you to lockpick faster, get more from gas station robberies, and medical perks.   Experience for Infamy is earned by turning in scalps, selling gold bars after robbing the fed, robbing the bank, prison breaks, gas station robberies, chopping vehicles, and selling drugs.   There are other under the hood performance tweaks and bug fixes as well, but I'm not going to list all of those out.
    HF1:
    Fixed a derp HF2:
Fixed a minor exploit related to infamy gain.   Capturing a cartel now awards some infamy.  HF3:
Fixed a bug preventing gold bar sales from giving infamy Drug runner missions now give infamy Also fixed an apparently long standing bug related to goldbar pricing when you own the turf that increases the sale price

And Bamf has just become a co-owner of Asylum with Paratus. It's finally time; all the hard work, sweat, and some tears, Bamf has finally landed a major position as co-lead developer for Asylum. Paratus' is promising big things, the adrenaline is getting to him as he now has someone to help him develop this RP server, and to Bamf. It starts off well for Bamf. He's active with the community talking about changes to ban policies, updating the community on the massive BE kicks, says they plan to work on fixing this. He even breaks it down, gives numbers/insight to the problem until he realizes nothing he has done has mattered. Bohemia make the mistake of saying "it's us, not you" and that's when it starts to go downhill....
Gnashes appears out of nowhere, right beside Bamf's side, "the problem isn't on us, it's Bohemia's fuckup" becomes his go-to line very quickly. He becomes the Sam to Bamf's Frodo willing to help carry the burden of this community. BIS has said they found a fix for the BE kicks, but it fails. Bamf scrambles to Server 4 with its more downtime than uptime, trying his hardest to fix the issues. Gnashes continues to talk about his 60 hour work weeks and why there hasn't been an update for a month or more. Bamf claims he found the solution, remove Server 2, move the S4 information to 2, and that'll solve it. Gnashes gains an extra 50lbs licking up the salt of all the S2 people. Bamf has to scramble frantically to calm the situation... There's talks of an update coming soon.....
But as all good stories go, a simple talent tree for rebels would be too easy. Instead, let's rework how the illegal drug areas work first. Did you spend 800k - 1mil on that 3 crate meth house? that's cute, because fuck you. To add with the RNG of our lootcrate boxes, we wanted to throw some more randomness in there and rework the drug fields. Heroin, coke, and meth all now rotate! And not only that, whenever you're logged in, there's a 100% guarantee it won't be on your side! And server just restarted, so feel free to check back in 3hours from now. The walls of Asylum begin to crumble. People begin to ramble about the recent changes, the constant lag and desync. Talks of another RolePlay Island start to become more than just whispers. People begin to question their allegiance to Asylum, wondering "what's it all for?"
Then it hits. The news. Rebel. Talent. Tree. It gets announced that it's being worked on. People begin to spam their POGGERS and hope arises. The news of a RBT being worked on spreads far and wide, calling back people who left the world of Asylum to return home. Could this really be it? Could this be true? "Be patient" "stay calm" "it's coming soon" "it's coming September 5" () are on repeat by devs and admins alike. The playerbase begin to grow weary as time moves on with no updates, people are beginning to get skeptical once again... There is only one question that remains...
@Poseidon have you come to save us, or have you doomed us all?
