    TL;DR so far for everyone:
    Database issues have caused a need for restrictive names at this time.
       -  Such issues cause inaccessibility to needed player based data due to special characters being used in one's name. In the future, we may see an increase in the inclusion of Special ASCII Characters again if development sees a solution to the issue Although everyone seems upset about this change, it is for the betterment of the server/community. Give the development team time to test out with this issue and we will see increased availability of special characters once again. VIET-CONG now are being held accountable for their player actions... legit their whole names were ASCII -- they were probably like ninjas on the database, toxic ninjas that is.

    Space Turtles is a fairly old gang but has never had a thread so I figured I'd go ahead and post this up so people who are interested can have a place to ask questions and what not. The majority of our members are also APD members and we'd prefer to keep it that way, we're either playing cop together or civ together - it's no fun taking down your buddies so it's important to us that we all roll together.
    We are active on Server 3.
    As expected our members are in fact turtles, turtles from space.

    All turtles are expected to abide by server rules at all times, any turtle caught stepping out of line will be immediately removed from the team.
    It only takes 1 person to ruin the reputation of an entire gang and as such we do not stand for any breach of server rules within our ranks.

    Recruitment is currently: Open.
    Applicants can be accepted by Leaders.
     All applicants must have a microphone and be able to use Discord.
    Recruit period will be determined by the Leaders.
    It is also preferable that you are not a pleb and can listen.

    but I actually appreciate the work that Mitch, Clint, Bada and Leady has done for this community.(other admins/mods as well) Sure some of them can be asshats at times(Mitch mostly xd) but the amount of effort that they put forth to make sure our voices are heard and issues are resolved is insane. When I was an admin for the 3rd top legacy rust server,  I had to face constant backlash for administrative decisions/actions made towards rule breaking players. Some of them were random nobody chinese hackers (seriously fuck chinese hackers) while others were players that fucked up too many times and were cut one too many breaks.

    It's tough to hold an administrative position, especially with a community this large and If anything I want our staff team to know that they are appreciated.

    You don't have to like what they do nor do you have to agree, but it's crazy how some people act as if the staff doesn't give a shit about our servers nor do they care about popular opinion. I'm sure if that was the case this community would have died a year ago.

    I hope we can lighten the fuck up and realize that this is a game and this game has rules. If you don't like the game and its rules, then you don't have to play it.

    As a member who has wanted a different aspect to Asylum for a while now, and has attempted to push for a different map, I personally believe that Tanoa is not a solid choice if the vote if in reference to another life server. In comparison to other options, whether a vanilla option or a modded version (I'm looking at you OG players), Tanoa doesn't necessarily offer too much content related to a Life Server. Of course, I loved the Tanoa life server, but if we only have to choose from one option, we all need to take a look into the specifics each map could offer.
    Tanoa is known for horrible CPU/GPU performance due to the unnecessary usage of brush such as tiny bushes, decomposing trees, and micro-flowers. The road system, along with just about every ARMA map, is an absolute mess with no structure. Apex is a chunk of DLC that some will not be able to afford. Of course, this won't be an issue for 67% of the player base, but some will have an issue with it.  If everyone as a majority can agree with these contingencies than I believe Tanoa is an OK option for perhaps a server 4. But if you have the time, please take a look at other options that might be available to the public.
    Stratis is too small, but the "new" addition of Malden could be a really good option for us guys. It has lots of potential, and I think in the hands of Jesse and the Devs good things can come from it. Take a minute to fly around it and admire the beautiful options for drug fields, cartels, police stations, and rebel outposts and such.

    I had an idea I sent to bamf a while back about contracts in game. Such as, you get a contract to collect and process 150 diamonds, after selling them you would turn in said contract for a bonus 15k.

    First off, we appreciate your cooperation and support as we work on server performance. While we do so, here are some small additions and changes that have been asked for by the community, we do listen to your voices . Once we get the performance to an acceptable level, we will begin adding the new content we’ve been working on for all players to experience. We'd also like to welcome back @Bikstok as contributor and look forward to our development team pushing out great changes in the future!
    Added the ability to claim vehicles at Chop Shop. Added 2 additional Rebel outposts. Thank you @Jbdragon for the designs. Reworked the prison, designed by @Jbdragon! Second bridge removed from the prison A second bridge will be added soon. The dynamic map system Poseidon implemented needs to be reworked or adjusted to accept objects "snapped to surface" or with pitch and yaw settings for the new Eden Editor. There is a laptop in the prison that you need to upload the virus to in order to infect the security system. The timer is now handled server side, so the player who starts it can lose connection, get killed, leave the server, etc and the prison break will continue. The APD will need to stop the prison break if possible by restoring the system at the laptop in the prison. When the map marker returns to blue, prisoners can no longer escape. Increased price of the Qilin to 50k. Increased price of the Prowler to 45k. Removed side doors on Qilins/Prowlers. Increased the price of the APD Prowler to 25k. Added ability to add additional smokes to Ifrits and Striders using the vehicle ammo item. Added vehicle ammo item to Cop shop. Added the Raven vest to Rebel outpost, Skip Tracer and UC. Added rear/side seats to the DLC cargo van. Increased price of the Suicide Vest to 80k. Increased price of the RPG round to 50k. Increased revive payout to $3500. Added MX SW to CPT+. Added MX GL (Smoke rounds only) to SGT+. Added SWAT uniform to LT+. Added Brown NVGs to UC. Removed Gendarmerie uniform from APD. Removed killer shelves from Kavala. Players can no longer sync their location while within 200m of any cartel. Tweaked downing script. Tweaked vehicles to be more resilient to non projectile damage. Removed the seat belt option and made vehicles significantly safer. Fixed a bug with red names and vehicles. Fixed an exploit with RPGs. Fixed APD talent for Hellcat. Fixed an exploit with syncing. Added an auto-locking method on the servers when FPS gets low on the server It will auto-unlock if the FPS recovers, we hope this will aide in having less crashes IMPORTANT NOTE: Some buildings (like the deer stands at the prison) will be created local to the client and not on the server. Meaning if you close the hatches on the deer stands others will see them open. So don't use them for cover. If you're unsure of if the building is client-sided or server-sided have a friend look at the building while you open/close windows. If they don't move for your friend, don't hide behind them and expect not to die... This will be adjusted when the map system is changed in the near future to accept pitch and yaw.
    Hotfix #1:
    Donor Rebel outpost has been added back to its original location. Now you have (6) rebels to gear up at. If you get camped, fill out a "hurt feelings" report Honor & Honor Talents should now sync properly Hotfix #2:
    Decreased damage taken to player while in vehicles. Doner Kebabs will no longer make your food value be a decimal point under certain circumstances. Removed APD Prowler doors. Removed Gang Bank cap. Now all players who are in the vicinity of the prison will be charged with Prison Conspiring. Any players who decide to be broken out from jail will also now be charged with Prison Conspiring on top of Escaping Prison. Prison Break delay dropped from 45 minutes to 15 minutes. Syncing at certain zones has been fixed. An option to refill magazines at Rebel Outposts has been added. Re-added the ability to sell weapons at Firearm Factory, vehicles are still disabled. Added lethal MX SW rounds to Cop shop. Some security adjustments. Hotfix #3:

    @Clint Beastwood @BaDaBiNg_10-8 and the Dev Team.  I think I speak for everyone when I say that everything you all have done in the past two days makes everything much more exciting and heartwarming for the community!  We look forward to seeing the servers improve as far as stability and content being pushed.  It's nice to be listened to in the past 3 years as a community and see these changes!     Good morning -
    As many of you noticed yesterday our servers were quite full (largely thanks to some new friends and some old faces) and we experienced the "usual" lag and kicks that we were accustomed to. 
     
    As promised we are immediately diving into our servers configurations from the "bare bones" of the systems.  The development team has taken its first actions with providing server 2 with some changes that we believe may be attributing the pains we have been having.
     
    Server 1 is currently being kept in the original settings.
    Server 2 will be our "test" server for these new settings.
     
    The development team has asked that we fill up server 2 in order to stress test these changes.
    We thank you for your patience during this time.

    Almost 5 years ago I purchased Arma 3 at the urging of a friend to play something called Altis Life.  My friend said I had to play on a server called the Asylum - so I bought the game on steam and we all got on S1.  That night I ended up with a Katiba trying to rob people processing cocaine.  I ended up getting killed by a guy named DanteSleepy, but I was hooked.  
    Through the months that followed I ended up in a little gang named Innovative, then as an Admin, a Captain in the APD, Community Manager, Developer, and finally an owner of the community.  I've enjoyed the years here, but it is finally time for me to move on.  No doubt you've seen the news already that @BaDaBiNg_10-8 and @Clint Beastwood have purchased Gaming Asylum from @Paratus and me.  They have some ideas that I think the community will be happy about, and are bringing in a great developer to help anchor that team in @Jesse.  
    I'd like to thank all the admins, mods, developers, contributors, and support people who have helped (and continue to) the community over the years.  Without a dedicated group of people to keep this place running it would no doubt fall apart. 
    I'd also like to thank the community for sticking with us through the good times and the bad.  It's not lost on me that three years ago tonight Gnashes and I were finishing trying to get all the data pulled back into the database after we lost the database server.  The community stuck through that with us, and I'm really thankful that you did.

    Originally I started Altis life on a server called Easys Altis life which was a shit show of bugs, random unfinished features, weird mechanics, and a dev/owner who procrastinated on patches constantly. When I came over to Olympus and Jesse was the dev, I was amazed on how everything actually worked, a lot of nice features and a clean UI. Updates were consistent and the community had a say. I really appreciated having Jesse as a dev while playing Olympus and I am excited to see what he does for asylum.

    Hey all,

    Some of you may know me from past experiences or know me from visiting other servers, etc. I have been around the Arma 3 Community for quite a bit and have had a few of my own servers and helped on various projects with other communities. I don't want to get much in to my A3 development work. However, I will tell you a bit about my personal life... I am 25 as of today. I just recently picked up a puppy (German Shepherd) named Luna who is basically a small child who poops outside. I went to school for a Bachelors in IT - Networking, coding was not my first pick at all. I worked at an ISP for 3 months as an intern and hated the job. Since that job, I've just worked various warehouse positions to pay off school debt while I figure out what I want to do. I have a strong desire to try and become a LEO, but not sure how to go about doing everything I need to get my foot in the door. Oh an my grammar is awful... I sprinkle a comma everywhere and anywhere.
    Last night was when I got instated in to my position and we (Clint, Bada, and I) immediately started work on figuring out some performance issues. I have found a few things that I feel are causing issues, so we made some changes to Server 3 last night and adjusted some settings. We feel that these very well could be issues and will be implementing a change to probably Server 2 to "Stress Test" to help me see some issues that may arise and figure stuff out. However, it's all still a theory and we need to be sure that we don't mess up current systems like Splunk, etc. However, I feel very confident one of them may be the issue. I am a big fan of being social with the community and interacting with staff. So you will see a lot of transparency with development related tasks and such.

    First off, a big shout out to @Windmere and @Gen. Henry Arnold for the bug fixes in this patch.  They have both spent a good deal of time going through and fixing bugs that have been reported.  
    Now for the notes:  
    Y inventory should no longer fall through buildings. Fixed a bug that allowed people to get into vehicles while their hands are up or while they are repairing. Fixed an exploit related to parole. Lieutenants & Captains now spawn with IR lasers. Fixed a bug that caused the "Add IR Laser (Lethal)" action for Lieutenants and Captains to delete their IR laser if they don't have a primary weapon.  Fixed a bug that allowed people to lockpick vehicles while inside of a vehicle. The Sync button on the phone will now fix the Arma naked bug in addition to syncing player data. Players can no longer sync their location while inside of the Federal Reserve. Fixed an illegal gathering exploit. Fixed a bug that allowed cops to restrain other cops. Default gang rank upon joining a gang is now 4 down from 3. Gank rank of 4 can no longer access gang house storage.
