  1. I agree something in that part of the map would be fantastic.

    But....

Playing devil's advocate here... would people be willing to travel to that part of the map for a fight? How often was the wongs cartel north of drug runner 1 faught? (Not sure if this is still a location or not cause I never pay attention to it!)

When we had rotating drug fields people were unhappy with the meth location up north.

  2. Already thought about this and discussed it with some people. A big problem with this is ratio. Soft logging and getting ratioed, while very annoying, is actually a good thing. As much as people hate the ratio and shit on it, it is needed. It helps to keep the balance. With this option it would remove one of the most frequent times cops soft log. Thus you could end up with 15+ cops on when there should only be 9 or fewer. I know soft logging can be a pain especially for those with lower end machines, but at the moment I think it probably is our best option.

  3. This is a very interesting idea. The problem I can see with it is the reaction like @Batcan's. I can't can't blame rebels for doing that either.

As was already said, the APD isn't meant to win every fight. The evidence locker was an attempt to switch to the APD defending and rebels attacking. Unfortunately there are problems with the way it was executed.

As for convoys like Randy (fuck your tag I am not taking the time to @ it on mobile) suggested... This has been done before in admin events. Sometimes they are fun but unfortunately they are generally plagued by one of a couple problems.

    1. Due to officers not wanting to get shot and the pure chaos that the event generates, they end up speeding as much as possible and the convoy gets split into 2 or more groups. This ends with people making bad decisions (vdming, ect) because they have no backup and ruins everyone's fun. (Yes I am well aware that good coms on police side has the potential to fix this but good luck with 15 people in a single channel on a moving location)

    2. Some troll decides it is funnier to sui/rpg/speed bomb the convoy and ruin everyone else's fun so they can get their jollies.

OK, we were told by a Lt last night after he seized gold bars out of a quillin, that a higher up can seize immediately if he thinks its necessary.  He seized them inside 20 seconds

The situation being referenced was not actually an LT who said it. It was DarkKnight who did it. As I understand it, he did it because all of your partners in crime had been captured at that point. As Chow already said, Captains are not required to follow the guidebook, but are generally expected to have a reason for why they are not doing so. If you want to discuss this more, I would recommend speaking with Dark directly.

Ask yourself why you shouldn't issue a 25k ticket for a 200k bounty that roleplays like a god. Seriously: ask yourself. Stop reading this post and think about it.

Never said you shouldn't. I have pardoned higher bounties for fantastic roleplay. I have no problem with cops issuing a low ticket to someone who has a high bounty and above and beyond roleplay. I also do not believe we should force cops to issue a set reduction based on how long someone roleplays. (Yes I know this is not what you are proposing)

Anymore to see a bounty over 100k is in and of itself a rather uncommon occurrence compare to what it used to be. I believe this is more due to the lack of cartel fighting than high tickets. You used to be able to go to cartels and fight other big gangs for the entire day. You didn't even have to see a cop if you didn't want to (spawn at a gang shed and return). Now if you want a big fight it is usually going to be against the APD. This will result in either you being captured or lethaled. Either way you bounty is going to drop.

As I said in my original post I am not for or against your idea for cop payouts. I was more addressing the claim that people shouldn't report robocopping.

For this I will refer you to how RP is evaluated around kidnapped officers.

This is a response regarding being kidnapped as an officer.

On 8/24/2019 at 1:15 PM, DarkKnight said:

Server rule states you must wait 10 minutes before logging. You may do the same on cop as long as you give effort in your rp. If someone throws you into a locked house and leaves then log after 10 minutes. If the person who kidnapped you is rping you must rp back. Officers that go afk or don't say anything and set a 10 minute timer to log will have action taken against them. If you are kidnapped and you rp during the first 10 minutes it is your call if you want to stay longer. All we want to see is effort.

Since this question has been asked many times, I thought I would put it here in a hope it will answer this question for someone in the future!

Just because someone has an excuse for their wrongful action does not mean that wrongful action should be and will be excused. The difference between a whitelisted player APD and an AI APD is that we as people have the ability to have a two way interaction with civilians. An AI would not be able to listen to you explain your charges and reduce your ticket based on effortEffort is what should be rewarded. When I say rewarded I do not mean that you must issue a low ticket to them. I think Samp said it very well in the post about bringing parole back.

On 12/5/2019 at 8:59 PM, Samperino said:

So, I always tell cops that if someone has a really high bounty, you don't have to reduce the ticket down to a price where you feel they can pay it. It all depends on the amount of effort someone gives, not necessarily their story as well. So if someone with a $200k bounty gets caught, and they put lots of effort into their role play, something like a $125k reduction for a total of a $75k ticket isn't unreasonable. In the end, they decided to wait until their bounty got to $200k. There's the courthouse if they want to reset their bounty as well, so "I couldn't find any cops to turn myself in" isn't a great excuse nowadays especially when the maximum jail sentence is already very low and pressing plates was significantly improved.

Edited to add: in the end, this is a cops vs robbers game. Getting caught is part of the game.

Edited to add 2: Parole was extremely exploitable, and sucked.

I am not saying that I disagree with your idea regarding payouts. In honesty I do not have the time to sit down and analyze it and see if it could be abused / what issues could arise from it. I am only addressing the not reporting robocopping.

I understand people may get frustrated when they file a report and there is no action taken. BUT, whenever an LT reviews an IA and takes no action, there is a reason. While they do not always type it out as sometimes it would be an essay, there is a reason. Feel free to contact that LT (talking in TS would be the easiest to go back and forth) and ask them why.

I am often hearing these complains, but there is not much we can do without reports and proof. Just because you tell me X person did Y does not allow me to take action. I am hearing an increase in complains, yet I see no increase in reports. How do you expect us to catch people, if you will not report them? Yes we do have means to catch rule breakers without reports, but we will never catch everyone. Reports is the best way for us to catch those who violate the guidebook.

  7. They way vehicle on vehicle collisions are handed by Arma I just don't see this as being a possibility. The only reason armor on armor works is because these vehicles are armored. A few other things which have already been touched on by others, but I wanted to add on to.

    1. If someone is deliberately trying to kill you with their vehicle, and they do, report them for VDM here.

    2. Having a helo can greatly help keep up the pursuit and can also land officers in front of the chase for the following two options.

    3. Set up ahead of the suspect so that officers are there and able to shoot at them head on. It is much easier to shoot someone through the windshield of a hatch sport than even the sun roof.

    4. Set up spike strips ahead. When you do this make sure there is nothing to give the suspect any clue there are spikes set up. If they see an officer or a car they will swerve off the road and go a different direction. Place spikes covering the entire road and a little on either side of the road (2 spike strips can easily do this to any road on the map) and then hide. As soon as they hit the spikes start shooting. Now they are not going to get far and it doesn't matter if they see you.

  8. I personally support the idea of lethals not clearing bounties and cops not getting paid. This is however, the long term solution. I do have a short term one.

If officers and abusing lethals file a report here. Please continue to read prior to complaining that all reports are no action taken. If officers are lethaling as soon as they get on scene you need to show that is what happened. Show video prior to cops arriving on scene and the first thing they do is lethal someone. While there could be a valid reason (you just went from a bank to a prison and they know how many of you there are) this is what we need to see to understand what is going on. Simply telling us "they lethaled two people, you can see it in chat" is not enough evidence. For all I know those people were in unreachable locations.

This evidence requirement is not meant as a slight against the reporter. In fact the requirement is the same for all members of the community regardless of their status with the exception of senior APD staff. Even then we need to have video for certain violations. For minor infractions of the guidebook the higher up witnessed without video, they are required to write a detailed account of what happened.

We understand there are people in the APD who do not follow the guidebook, but we need sufficient evidence of these situations issue disciplinary action.

  9. I am not a developer, but this seems like it would be annoying (if even possible) and possibly lag inducing to code. It is not like cops or medic where they are classed as a different side (side east, north, ect.). Because of this they would have to check what license you have within that radius and then disable your ability (again if even possible). Personally I think that might be more work on the devs part than it is worth. I understand you are frustrated with the situation, but I would rather see the devs work on new content everyone can enjoy than a change like this.

  10. Thank you for all the time and dedication you have put into the server. I know the developer title can sometimes be a thankless one, but know that there are always those in the community who appreciated the hard work and effort you and the others on the dev team have put in and continue to put in.

  11. Flashbangs are already aids enough, we don't need a way to launch 5 or 6 at a time. Additionally officers would have to fall back before pushing so as to not get flashed themselves. This would defeat the purpose as it gives rebels more time to recover from the flash.

Please don't let the fact that is one suggestion seems to not  be well received deter you from making future suggestions!

If you limit it to only 2 vehicles then make sure uranium is used for something else like for crafting certain items so people have to go there for it. I know right now some guns need meth to be able to craft them so why not change the meth out for uranium but make it like x2 the amount or something or just add uranium to crafting guns because why not. Food for thought anyway.

Ifrits are now always fueled when pulled from the garage but require uranium to craft. (totally random idea)

I like the idea of diversifying the crafting in general! +1

I like the rule, it gives a little bit more room to breathe when it comes to making money. I would suggest this rule should be implemented to meth (hear me out). Mainly because meth is very toxic in real life (in production that is), and is not something you just "make" it is a chemistry experiment that can blow you up.

I see where you are going with this. I would be against it because the same could be said for cocaine. I mean really most drugs are rather volatile when being produced. I think the limit on uranium isn't really a bad thing. People have hated on uranium because the price isn't high, but when you consider how close the processor is and the restriction on cops, it could actually be a good money method. Especially if the devs add a lead lined box truck or van! Right now the way most civilians make their money is either scotch or meth (Don't get me wrong plenty of people use other methods). I like that this could introduce a new potentially good money making method.

hey would you have someone update the guidebook with this quote? I know you all don't want to spell out every little thing but this little blob of text is really easy to understand and will help us all out with how we should act. if anything a good reference so the question doesn't get asked all the time in cop channels during these situations.

I may not be able to edit the guidebook, but I can move DK's response to somewhere it maybe seen in the future!
