Most if not all games nowadays have some kind of wipe/season system. You say you don't want to grind, yet you're still gonna do it, and it'll make the rest of your time much more enjoyable

• Given the state of the server and majority of others feedback our developers have been working on creating a new environment for Asylum (Some make call it Asylum v3, Asylum Reborn, call it what you want).  We have taken a step back and are going back to our roots.  Player progression will be wiped, your donor level and faction rank will remain untouched.

What-to-expect:

• We will be introducing new patches and changes more frequently at the start of the wipe introducing old/new content items.
• Starting out there will be four Fed events - Fed, Bank, Casino, & Prison.
  • This is to prevent players hyper inflating the economy in the first month as seen in the previous test wipe.
• Talent System - Removed entirely (No more grinding for unnecessary talents).
  • Some talents were redistributed to faction ranks, others were dispersed behind infamy, prestige, and honor.
• Housing Changes:
  • 3 houses total (Including 1 shed)
  • Increased max storage options for both virtual and physical items.
• Legal and Illegal money methods have been reworked to where both can be affordable living - with the exception that illegal methods will still pay more.
• Removed Drones for time being.
• Starter money increased.
• Gang bank payouts every 5 minutes based on the amount of cartels you own.
• Removed purification.
• Simplified crafting.
• Many, many, more things that are just too much to list for an pre-announcement. 

Server-rule-changes:

• Admins - will not be getting any money or perks for the time being, including spawning in vehicles. (They will be a new player just like you)
  • This is to ensure fairness across the community.  However, admin duties outside of normal game play will remain and can still run events to make it fun for the community. 
• We are wiping your current count of bans for this year.
• Ban times will be reduced drastically overall. The goal is to have players in game.
• Player conflict dispute - If a player does not intentionally break a rule they may try to resolve with compensation.  The player does not have to accept compensation, however, the admin team will take it into consideration if we feel your situation is genuine. Note - this is not an in game feature… yet. 

APD Changes: (Temporary Changes)(Subject to Change)

• No house raiding will be performed at this time
• No drones
• All cop ranks will follow helicopter guidelines. (No searching illegal areas without ground units)
  • Cops may respond via helicopter if ground units in area.
  • 20 30 minute timer cooldown for drug fields. 
  • 2 1 Life rule for all illegal drug areas regardless of how many cops are online (Ex: 5 cops or less is no longer valid) 

**I want to re-iterate these are just a brief example of changes to come and more will be released in the upcoming patch notes laying out exactly what was changed and what will be changing in the upcoming updates.**

The developers are working hard to make this work and we hope you guys are excited for the upcoming changes.  Thank you for continuing to be apart of our community, we love all of you. ❤️

 First of all, I'll return to a primary crusade of mine: to get more achievements added into the game. Currently, the primary way you can get a colored name, aka an Achievement, is to get kills, caps, or deaths in the Asylum Domination event. With the wipe effectively nixing Domination for at least a few weeks and the new focus on a "good" grind to keep players engaged, we should add more aesthetics you can grind for. When I play MMOs like World of Warcraft, I grind for good gear and AESTHETICS, such as mounts/transmogs. You should take a page out of their books and allow players to grind for more Achievements. I propose adding in colored Achievement titles for the Cops, Medics, and Civs on S1 outside of Domination.

 

Here's some ideas from an old suggestion of mine.

This is just an idea for cop titles, but there should be a TON of achievements for civilians to grind for. Colored names are arguably one of Asylum's most unique aesthetic features and it would be nice if more people who play S1 could get them. As of yet, they are only given out to Dom gangs and Olympus gangs who only play S2. Stop prioritizing other servers' playerbase over your own 😠

Moving on...

Vehicles prices for the new wipe should probably be reduced. A 140,000 cost for an Ifrit would be insane, as they are just going to get immediately get chopped/seized. 80,000 or anything in that range is more than reasonable for a vehicle that basically is a huge "ROB ME" sign.

Also, you should take a page out of Olympus' book and have sheds be gang-houses only, and can only be purchased by gangs with 15-20+ people in them. If you're wiping the server, then stop giving a fuck about people having """their""" sheds and change the system for the better. Sheds are really high-value real-estate and it's always been the case that they're purchased by scavengers with too much time on their hands- with the wipe, gangs are just going to pool all their starter money together and buy the most valuable sheds on the map for 250,000 and hold it until they can flip it for millions. You can stop this just by making it 1 shed per gang with a certain amount of active players.

doing this will make the asylum kiddos who grinded for there money and houses I guarantee they will not touch asylum again.

Unban kids who have stupid VDM bans and other stupid shit the server wipe isn’t the solution it ain’t going to make it 120 pop everyday and all day arma is dead already no one plays I guarantee this wipe will make olympus blow up

all asylum players at sweatlords. they’re complete addicts. everyone cried just like this when they did the previous wipe but every single one of those simps were playing asylum day 1 of that wipe. air it out, maybe then you’ll come to terms.

when the options are touch grass or play on wiped asylum, it’ll become clear how many fear the grass.

So the server is dying and the admins decision is to split the remaining players in half with a wipe. GG Asylum is cooked. the only people who agree with this decision are career cops and a handful of staff members no one ever sees on the server. I'm seeing more forums interactions than play time from staff members and that is one of the glaring problems.

after 5 years.  This is it for me. Your devs are incredibly inexperienced if they dont understand wipes only work when there  is an influx of new players wanting to come in. That is just not the case in arma 3. That being said your wipe will simply push more players away than it will attract. Guys that play every few months  got a couple week stretches will come in. see all their progress is gone and just never come back. This will beyond any shadow of a doubt reduce server population.

also, doesn't the server pop drop every summer, I feel like a lot of people are just out traveling and in about 1-2 months the server will back up to where it was.

This needs to be executed correctly, launch of the server needs to be done at a time where EU and NA can grind, unban ALOT of people, daily rewards to keep people coming back, cop to civ ratio needs to be looked into because every field will be camped by cops... it will be fun to have that excitement of driving a box truck full of coke with the chance of being robbed and actually giving a shit about money.

currently we just log on, buy whatever without a care in the world because we've been playing for so long it doesn't mean anything and maybe the wipe won't change that but currently its at 10 people peak time.

Maybe its not the right move but I think its better than nothing, please back up the server, monitor the retention of players, this is make or break...

Last summer around this time was full pop.

Keep a backup of the current (what would be old) server database so if needed it can be reverted if it is blatantly failing after a few months. Keeping that back up is a good fail safe. From what little I understand about databases, it can't be that hard to do or costly long term.

On the bright side I see light at the end of this if its executed with near perfection and maybe with some new solid content as icing on the cake.
